I'm having a lot of fun with Pac-Man, didn't care for him much in the previous game but he feels better to play as this time.
Though I've just unlocked Richter, so...sorry Pac.

I've been a pretty high level tournament player and organizer for Smash games for a long time now, though I decided to retire from it this year. In that context, here is an early tier list I put together after a lot of extensive playtesting and going over matchups. Tier separation has more to due with size than overall character strength. The biggest gaps in character strength are between Top and Mid1 and between Low2 and LOL.

Gonna take a minute to be salty about World of Light - the utter absurdity of some of the challenges, especially on Hard mode, really detracts from the experience.
Like, the challenge for The Boss is fun; it's insane, it's intense, it's beyond challenging, but it's fun, since you feel like you can keep working at it and improving until you get the job done. Then there are battles like Hard mode Giga Bowser or the 9/18-Volt challenge where it has just about nothing to do with skill, patience, or even earning the proper spirits to make the fight easier due to the work you've done, it's just complete nonsense from the word "go".
It's still addictive as hell, don't get me wrong, but when the player's ability begins to feel completely secondary or even pointless to the proceedings, it hurts the experience a lot.

My roommate and I have been doing a No Spirits run on Hard mode and so far we've found it all to be pretty beatable except for challenges where they have buffed up teams of 3+ opponents that can't hit each other and have killing projectiles. One in particular we couldn't win was a large metal ROB that takes no hitstun and does 40+ damage per hit while the real opponent, a Dr. Mario, runs away behind him.

I thought it was absurd how many of the challenges were gimped if you simply equipped a Franklin Badge.

So I found out that in order to get the Mew Spirit from the Adventure Board, you have to defeat the True Final Boss in one go without getting your fighter knocked out in the battle in one go. If you lose, you have to restart the whole final battle from the very beginning.
Resetting the phase disqualifies you from getting Mew.

Did that yesterday, wasn't THAT hard. In the same dungeon you have the 9/18 Volt and Dr. Wily ones which are much more difficult. And before the dungeon you have Sigma which is the Ganondorf with buffed up sword attacks that's a bitch too (ironically I beat that with Marth and his pointy sword).

Finally beat WoL and got the true ending. I'm sitting at 96% though despite having defeated all spirits and faced Galeem/Darkon individually and getting both bad endings.

Turns out I had a bunch of battles I never completed in the multiple choice quiz area, so I went in and completed all for 100%. Guess I knew it was almost the end, and skipped most of them the first time.

Need tips on beating the 8 Metal Mega Man and Dr Mario. I've tried every combination of fighter (only have 30 of them so far) and spirit (several full-powered 4-star avatars of each color) I can think of and I can't even reach Mario.

I know for a fact I used Viridi for that one, don't recall offhand beyond that.

I've been using a combination of Viridi's Metal Killer and Pauline's Heal Shield, but I just can't keep my health high enough to get through the 8 Mega Man because every time one of them will get in close to grab or melee me while the other stays back and fires endless projectiles. By the time I get to the third round of them I typically have less than 20% health remaining.

So, I finally got the Mew spirit. I decided to go into Easy mode, which still gets you it, since you must have a perfect run throughout. I used Dr. Mario, and for Spirits, I went with Isaac (Dark Dawn) for that Energy Resistance buff and Celebi for the autoheal. Glad I did it, so that's something I don't have to do again.

K.Rool and Pichu should be in top and Corrin, Bayonetta and Ridley should be in either mid 1 or mid 2 at least. Pichu and K Rool are massively overhyped. Even top level players like Zero who were hyping Pichu are walkin him back already. The character literally dies in just three hits to several characters, one of whom is a candidate for best character in the game. He loses out to almost all trades due to horrifically shitty range. Pichu is easily defeated by most characters by just throwing out hit boxes at his attacks instead of turtling up. His hyper aggressive playstyle makes him look way better than he is because defense is bad in this game but most people kept playing like it wasnt when it first came out. K Rool is a noob killer character. You will win easily if your opponent isn't good. Otherwise he's a hard gimmick that is even better on wifi since heavies are always better on wifi due to lag+massive knockback. Armor isn't even full body, making him have horrifyingly bad matchups against forward air spamming sword characters like Marth, Lucina, Crom, Roy, and Corrin. He also struggles to recover against characters with good edge guards since his up B leaves him massively vulnerable to anything that can easily hit him from the side or projectiles. Sadly he will probably get nerfed hard since he's the most complained about character by wifi warriors which is what happened to Mac last game despite never being good.
