NBA tv is snowing the 09 dunk contest, Dwight Howard was over. It makes it sadder to see the joke he became. Dwight and JaVale (who WON that dunk contest, nobody telling me otherwise) really put on a show for being giants.

A healthy and young Howard is one of the most impressive and strongest players I’ve ever seen. Too bad he only relied on that and not on fundamentals.

They hired Patrick Ewing to basically be his personal teacher and he went to see Hakeem every summer and couldn't soak none of that in

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that every locker room Howard has been a part of ended up hating him.

Dwight is a two face backstabber and it got fully put out their when he dogged Stan Van Gundy and then Stan is doing an interview and he's hugging and acting a fool. Stan was his best coach and Howard could never except the fact he's not a 1st option player and it's better when he has a ton of shooters who can open lanes for him to dominate
He wanted to leave Orlando because he didn't like Stan, he left L.A. because he wanted to be the option over Kobe, he left Houston because he wanted to be the option over Harden and his tenures in ATL and Charlotte were short because he's not the same player he used to be

It also killed Howard that the game changed to become guard friendly during his early years, I think he only lasted that long because of his sheer strength and athleticism. Since birth he was only trained to impose his will. Unlike other big men like Anthony Davis and Boogie who weren’t dominant when they grew up, so they had to train all aspects of the game. f*** I think AD started as a guard because he didn’t grew until senior year.

Oh yeah there is no doubt Howard as a pure big man is a rare breed and somewhat a fish out of water as damn near all big men are required to at least be able to attempt a 3 and hit it except for a few notable exceptions like a Deandre Jordan but he's able to still play at a high level unlike Dwight or relied on his physical gifts more so than skill
AD was a PG I believe when he started HS and he had his growth spurt during that time frame. The guys know the game is changing and they try to change their game as well. AD came in with a baby jumper and no 3 point shoot and that's a big part of his game now, same with Cousins not shooting 3s until he's 4 years into the league. Those guys did not want to fall behind and a guy like Dwight when he was in his prime, he ever learned low post moves his value would be much higher thna it is

I feel like AD is injured 70% of the time.

I feel like AD is injured 70% of the time. He's big man version of Kyrie
He just came back from a fractured finger last week and now has a bruised shoulder from last night
The last two seasons he's surprisingly played 75 games but he's not reaching that goal this year

Pelicans part ways with GM Dell Demps

Pelicans part ways with GM Dell Demps They fired him because they were so pissed AD left the arena last night. 1: AD morphing into the biggest non wide receiver diva on the planet is glorious. I hope he acts like this everywhere he goes. 2; They’re looking to hire a guy to take command of trade talks and not send AD to a preferred destination... AKA, exactly what Demps already did once. 3; Obviously they were looking for the very first “excuse” to fire the dude.

It was stupid for him and Rich Paul to try to get a trade a week before the trade deadline especially when AD went on record saying his legacy matters early in the season when they asked about a trade
Dell Demps was always a lame duck. He was damned if he do and damned if he don't. No matter who they bring in, they need to take the best deal possible and not cut off their nose to spite their face
The sooner they trade him the better in the offseason. AD doesn't want to play and Pelicans don't want to play him, league shouldn't fine the Pelicans for not playing him.

I think Dell Demps got fired because he didn't accept an almost Billy King-esque offer from the Lakers for AD seemingly out of spite.

Lakers say the Pelicans were leaking negotiations and never had any intent in trading AD while Pelicans say Lakers did not come to the table "in good faith"
It's somewhere in the middle but Demps blew it not taking that last reported deal and trying to get greedy for 8 picks

Dell Demps was going to be fired the moment AD requested a trade. Ownership didn’t want Demps taking the deal. It had nothing to do with the LA trade. Pelicans weren’t even really communicating with the Lakers on trade talks because they wanted to wait until the Summer. Source is Pelicans beat writers.

He blew it by not putting the a good team around AD. He was fired because of that. Not because of the Lakers trade. The Pelicans were never going to take the Lakers deal because they were always going to be content to let this play out over the summer. They were never going to be bullied into making a trade just because Rich Paul/LeBron James/AD tried to force their hand.

In fairness, to Demps the the team the last 2 seasons haven't been that bad. They started the previous season with him and Cousins along with Holiday and a decent team but Cousins got injured and they still had enough to make the playoffs
This year the team was actually with decent roster but they aren't just capable of beating top West teams along with the coach not being great and AD missing games and imo not being a great leader as well
Demps biggest failure is never doing a proper build around this team and always going for a quick fix. They traded damn near every 1st round pick they had since they drafted AD
The Pelicans never wanted Demps to do the deal in the first place and he's damned if he do and damned if he don't but whether he made that trade or not he was getting fired

Doesn't exactly help that the temporary GM New Orleans is hiring is Danny Ferry, who got canned from the Hawks after commenting that Luon Deng had "a little African in him".

"Jersey of the future"
Probably a way to get ads on jerseys in the future as well

What’s everyone’s take on all-star weekend?
I can’t stand it. The games are a joke, and I just get the impression it’s all just a giant networking party of superstars trying to convince each other to come play in their big market of choice.
The only event I’m remotely interested in is the three-point shootout, but I don’t think I’m going to go out of my way to change the channel.
