In some news that makes me happy, Lindsay Gottlieb, a Brown graduate (my alma mater), has been hired as an assistant coach for the Cavs!

I know it’s different injuries and different skill set but I wonder if Bol Bol has a Pervis Ellison type career. About a year and a half of all star level talent that just becomes overcome by injuries.
Also listening to the talking heads scouts seemed to question his commitment

Whiteside opts into his 27 million dollar contract.
What’s Miami’s cap like? Would they want to get out of that before free agency? Is his massive ender more valuable at the eventual trade deadline?
I’m kind of just spitballing anything at a wall over “Resigning Willie Cauley-Stein.”

They want to shed cap and basically he would be number 1 Right now I think they been working on a deal to shed some contracts line Waiters and Johnson to the Cavs for expiring contract of JR Smith

Whiteside holds the fort for one more year of Giles’ development before he takes the reigns as starter, contract expires, Kings (attempt to) make moves next offseason. I’m also in “Just resign DeMarcus” mode, if the price isn’t stupid... basically anyone except Willie. I’m done with him.

Kings probably exhaust all their free agent options before considering trades that will take up cap. Whiteside contract will be a chunk but only if they run out of options with everyone else. Cousins I don’t think is worth the investment. At his current level he is the 3rd best player on that team and while his ego can stand being behind all time great players, idk if he takes kindly to going back to his old stomping grounds where he was the man and not being a big focus. He wants to get his career back on track, to all star level

Kings hire Joe Dumars as Vlade’s advisor. Hopefully he pans out better than the last idiot advisor we had (Chris Mullin). He has championship blood, but he also drafted Darko at 2. So we’ll see.

So Lakers look to be pursuing Brooke Lopez , Deandre Jordan and Nicolai Vuevic.
I know nothing of Nicolai but atleast this is a better sign of things that the Lakers aren't just trying to pursue a 3rd max guy
no search party needed for Rasheed Wallace even though his post game promo skills would be amazing to have.

Horford’s potential offer is now thought to be 4 years / 112 million.
That’s A LOT of money for Al Horford.

Got to be the Mavs giving him that contract It's basically the same Boston offered him and I thought it was too much then but to his credit he lived up to his contract. However, he was 29/30 when he signed it. Now he is 33 and giving him a 4 year deal will backfire as soon as year 2 like it has with Chris Paul and the Rockets

Not like they’d say anything else at this point though. I think this also has Vlade / Sacramento’s scent on it. Overpay to attract name free agent - Big check Valuable locker room / character guy - check Ballsy yet potentially very stupid - check

However, sometimes you got to make that jump and they are in a position where they could make that jump. I don't think it is Sac tho as they will exhaust their cheaper vet options before committing to this unless they feel Horford is the key ingredient and help get this team over the hump as far as being an 8th seed this upcoming season and the seasons after that being a perennial playoff team Could be the Nets that give Horford this contract. He'd fit them like a glove and he'd help them in the East be in the 4/5 range or higher assuming everyone but Philly takes a step back

Don’t think it’s them.

Nets have also been reported to say that they don't like Kyrie by himself without KD We do know they are interested in Harris and Horford as fall back options

They may be interested, but I doubt they’re floating numbers out there already.

No one is offering anyone a contract right now, just talking numbers because they can without actually committing to it right now

Horford would be a good get for anybody if they already have an A and B scoring option in place.
That's a lot of money for a lot of time, and I wouldn't put much stock in years 3 and 4 being anything other than an albatross.

The Celtics signed Tacko Fall to a Summer League contract. He's going to have to impress because teams being intrigued by his height will only last so long He makes Shaq look like Nash at the line. He can't do anything away from the basket on offense and teams will foul him making him a big nothing on the court and on defense you drag him outside on the pick and roll and he is too slow to adjust after you blown past him He will get a few chances to show if he can play but he's set for the G League if he doesn't have any improvements
