Which is quite the far cry from the stupidity of the Bat Embargo and how apparently a cartoon featuring Two-Face would've killed Dark Knight's box office. There is still some restrictions, such as the use of the name Joker not being allowed on Gotham despite having two obvious Joker stand-ins, but for the most part DC have been pretty free with letting their shows reference other characters. I suppose another part of it is DC have embraced the multiverse, so when one character on one show mentions Batman, for example, they're referring to the Batman of their universe who may well appear at some point. When a Defender mentions Hulk, they can only refer to the Mark Ruffalo Hulk, who will never appear unless Marvel's TV division is merged with Marvel Studios. Which is gonna be really interesting once Disney+ launches, considering there are multiple shows planned based around movie characters. I believe they announced a show runner for Vision and Scarlet Witch yesterday, and they’re supposedly working on a Winter Soldier show. Sure I’m forgetting one

I'm not gonna lie, this has me more interested in signing up to the streaming site then anything else DC has ever announced for it.

I think that one was more them not wanting to have Black Manta shot and killed in an episode, or did they do that due to not being able to use him, anyway? I'd assume more due to not being able to use him given that was supposed to be an Aquaman episode instead of a Wonder Woman one. Yes. The WB pilot was being filmed, and so they cut JLU off from using Aquaman characters too. The Devil Ray/Black Manta was one way around it (makes one wonder why they didn't sneak in other "banned" characters and just not name them?) And I still say the embargoes were all a ploy to get JLU out of the way as soon as possible. WB had lost interest in the Timmverse and wanted to push new shows instead. Notice how you don't see these issues turn up as often once JLU ended? Oh it does happen sometimes (Deadshot and Deathstroke being banned from the Arrowverse), but nowhere as frequently. And I know it's not a new thing by any means...see: the characters Superfriends and the Filmation Batman could or couldn't use because of one another; the reason for HERBIE the Robot; no Sandman or Max Dillon Electro on Fox Spider-Man...

I choose to believe "remastered" means that they have a poorly dubbed ill-fitting voice say "Shazam." every time Captain Marvel is uttered

I was going to put this into the Titans thread that I’m sure I seen but either I imagined it or the sucky search feature rears it head again but after swearing off it based on the edgelord trailer I finally cracked and watched Titans
.......And it ain’t half bad. Yeah sometimes it tries a bit too hard with the swearing and violence that really seemed over the top at first but then I started to understand where they were going with Robin & the violence
Just some bizarre choices though like the whole end on a cliffhanger in 2 of the last 4 episodes which immediately is followed up by a out of nowhere detour and the last episode especially a bizarre way to end a season however I actually am glad I watched it and I might go and look out the original cartoon series that I’ve heard quite a bit about but never seen

The original movie for it is kinda meh, but worthwhile enough to watch after if you want a little more.

It's been years since I've watched the original Teen Titans cartoon but in my experience the quality is... mixed. By and large I mostly enjoyed it, but you pretty quickly have to get used to the show ricocheting back and forth between dark, serious stories and incredibly surreal, ridiculously goofy nonsense at an absolutely bizarre rate, and both types of episode have very mixed track records.
There's also a very clear divide in quality between the good and bad story arcs. Like personally if I were to watch through the show again I probably wouldn't even bother with the plot episodes of season 3 or with season 5 at all.

And then to mitigate it, they dropped the first teaser to it. io9.gizmodo.com/dc-universe-drops-its-first-cryptic-swamp-thing-teaser-1834120036Honestly, I'm pissed that they cut the show order, because this was the one thing that I was looking forward to on DCU, and it sounds like they cut it for the jankiest reason. Someone speculated that the reason it got cut down too was because DCU is getting prepped for discontinuation and folded into a streaming service WB is going to announce soon to complete with Disney+. It sounds like a rumor, but seems pretty legit considering that they need to compete with D+ and considering the subscription numbers for DCU are probably on the low end, driving as many people as they can to their service while saving resource money is probably the smartest way to go.

Bumping this because I was continuing YJ: Outsiders after a long sabbatical. And I just got to the episode with the Scooby-Doo Mystery Incorporated expies.

Just got an email from DC Universe. It said since I preordered before the service’s launch I’m eligible for an annual discount. The new price is now $59.99 from the original $74.99. At this price I’ll keep it. I was thinking of canceling recently.

Anybody watching Titans Season 2? I just got caught up, it’s definitely better then the first season but still has issues. Jericho and Bruce Wayne are both incredible episodes tho, enjoyed the Aqualad episode as well. It feels a lot more like Titans, and the flashback stuff is usually really strong.
However, it was really f***ing dumb to save the season 1 finale to be the season 2 premiere. That would’ve worked way better as a finale then what we got last year

Loving Titans season 2 , I had dipped out of season 1 very early on because it was just not interesting but once they casted DeathStroke I started watching and really enjoying it.
Love the change to the Nightwing origin even though they probably had no choice but to they made it work perfectly IMO.
Cannot wait to see more of BlackFire but I assume they are gonna really hold off on really doing anything big with that untill next season

I think season 2 is as good as season 1. A lot of Dick, Donna and Hawk and Dove arguing in the living room for my taste. Season 1 had some clear direction with the road trip aspect.
