Going from the OT to the PT to the ST in that trailer... All it did was remind me of the good Star Wars movies and the bad but at least interesting Star Wars movies before jumping off a cliff into TLJ.

......those are Imperial Star Destroyers.
Not First Order Star Destroyers, but the old ones with the shield domes atop the bridge.
Oh boy.

Val's Theory: I think they are going to take a page out of the Heir to the Empire books and have a fleet of droid-controlled-linked-ships "lost" that are found and C3PO ends up commanding them using the battledroid software from Geonosis that they recovered from his memory.

I’d be willing to bet my years’ salary that the whole “Evil Rey” thing is nothing more than a dream sequence in the movie itself, but it’s being played up as something significant in the teasers to get people talking.

They have no idea what they are doing. This trilogy so far has been a directionless mess.

They have no idea what they are doing. This trilogy so far has been a directionless mess. I very much agree with this. I personally think they had, at best, a vague main path to follow. And by vague I mean like a super basic one paragraph outline possibly written on a napkin. And I also think they tossed most of that out the window at some point in time between the first and second movie. The only thing set in stone seemed to be "Rey and Kylo will be in all three movies". That's it.

I feel like anything is possible with this movie. It might not make any sense, but I feel like it's possible.

They have no idea what they are doing. This trilogy so far has been a directionless mess. I might argue that there's a plan, one that Last Jedi did nothing to contribute to (from a certain point of view), but between the movies and the books and comics and even Rebels......there might be something here. io9.gizmodo.com/what-palpatine-left-behind-1834054363(a 4 month old article, but revealing if you're not up on non-movie things)

Oh God, please don't let the Red Letter Media video be that accurate. {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}Basically that we'd get a straight-up Endgame situation with time travel and shit. I've said it before, but Star Wars as a compelling film series ended in 1983. I'll at least give this a look to see what they decide to do, I guess, but just think: all those years ago George Lucas told people there were "nine episodes" to this saga, and all along he was pretty much bullshitting, as he clearly didn't have much of a plan in mind for the prequels beyond "Anakin turns evil on Obi-Wan and falls in some lava" while these new ones clearly didn't have a plan in mind for a three-movie narrative, either. At least the recent ones have been competently made compared with the prequels, but they're ultimately pointless. And yeah, I know Lucas had his own sequel trilogy story in mind, but the odds that he had thought it up before a few years ago seem very slim.

SW never needed prequels or sequels. Three movies sufficed. That's all the story required.

The sequels are better than the prequels, but that bar isn't high.

World Between Worlds?
(But I don't think they knew it'd be accurate, the comment was made in jest re: Endgame, and not something SW actually has sorta set up) Listening to the Star Wars Minute podcast talk about it a year ago, there was a sequel trilogy idea out there at some point years ago - it involved Leia NOT being Luke's sister, the Emperor surviving ROTJ, and Luke going after him in a dual search for his real sibling; so obviously, changes made to ROTJ (oh, what changes) made sequels more out of the question. Part of my anticipation for The Rise of Skywalker is that this will basically be my end for Star Wars; that everything I've seen involving Star Wars on the fandom side (and even some creatives) has become so rancid and obnoxious that I just want out and that I'm willing to see it to the end and then be done with it all. Let Disney do whatever with it, but the Saga ending will hopefully make letting go of it all so much easier. Sad it's come to that, but fandom (plus getting older and getting generally tired of most things I have always liked) kinda calls for it..

Lol..so over the rey dark side tease. I’m sure it’s a vision but cmon lol.
It looks pretty good. I’m excited. This has been an up and down of a ST but i hope they go out strong and kinda glad it’s f***ing ending.
