Sorry for the lack of polls for the last 2 days. My internet was down. Anyway, Brown and Thesz tied for the 1940s. And, since Thesz was the only champ for the years 1950-1955, he automatically wins for those years. Now, onto 1956:
Lou Thesz, 1st reign, won it on November 27, 1949, held it for 2,300 days, Awarded when Brown suffered career-ending injuries in an automobile accident on November 1, 1949. Thesz had earlier won the National Wrestling Association's World Heavyweight Championship on July 10, 1948 from Wild Bill Longson. Thesz became the undisputed champion of all of wrestling by winning the Los Angeles Olympic Auditorium World Heavyweight Championship, the remaining major world championship at the time other than the NWA World Heavyweight Championship, defeating Baron Michele Leone on May 21, 1952.
Whipper Billy Watson, 1st reign, won it at a house show in Toronto, ON, Canada on March 15, 1956, held it for 239 days
Lou Thesz, 2nd reign, won it at a house show in St. Louis, MO on November 9, 1956, held it for 370 days
