I was more going for Munchak because of his experience but am excited to see what Fangio can do with this defense. Not sure I like the rumored set up of Fangio in charge of the defense having the title of head coach while the offense is Kubiak's to deal with and basically being HC 2. Sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.

The Denver Broncos have hired Vic Fangio as their next head coach The Cleveland Browns have relieved Gregg Williams of his defensive coordinator role. He is no longer with the team. The Browns will instead be promoting OC Freddie Kitchens to be their next head coach. Really bad decision (by the Browns?! Unprecedented! ) to let him go completely. He was great for them.

This is the same guy who coached the defense of the 2007 Skins who went to the playoffs largely thanks to his defense. That year's head coach, Joe Gibbs, stepped away for the second time, and Gregg Williams was a heavily rumored candidate to be that next HC. He interviewed for said job 4 times. Then finally, the Skins made the press release... that he would be removed from the coaching staff entirely. Is he somehow not a good guy to be around, or what?

Jets are gonna hire Adam Gase to be their new head coach. So you are hiring the guy who basically left Miami a complete mess in the locker room? Such a Jets hire

Freddie Kitchens has fired all of the Cleveland coaches from last year, including Hard Knocks stand-out Bob Wylie

Bruce Arians went on The Rich Eisen show and said that he would love to coach Cleveland. He talked about Mayfield and the city and the fans. He then said he probably jinxed himself by saying that. I wonder if he even got an interview. Probably not.
Again, the Browns are gonna Browns. An established coach, who is loved by his players and pretty much everybody else, who has succeeded, and has worked with Peyton Manning, Andrew Luck, Carson Palmer, and Ben Roethlisberger. But no, let's not hire that guy.

I want to point and laugh at the Jets and I want to ridicule Adam Gase for being perpetually mediocre, but he was stuck in Miami with Ryan Tannehill (when healthy) as his starting quarterback, which is an unenviable position despite the year-in and year-out pre-season hype that Tannehill receives, that THIS YEAR is going to be the year he breaks out.
There's obviously something to Gase. He's only 40 years old, he oversaw the Broncos' offense during the two years Peyton Manning wasn't a stiff, and he somehow coached the Dolphins to the playoffs in 2016. I'm interested to see what he can do with Sam Darnold and whatever weapons the Jets find in the off-season with their Scrooge McDuck money bin of salary cap space.
As for the Browns, woof, could they have hired a more uninspiring candidate? I guess one could argue that Freddie Kitchens was the offensive coordinator as Baker Mayfield blossomed, but this feels like a bridge hire for another year or two before they find their long-term option. I think if they went with someone like Mike McCarthy or Josh McDaniels, it would have showed a more long-term commitment, but I think the Browns at this point just want to do whatever it takes to not f**k up what appears to be a good thing, so Kitchens is it.

Can't believe I'm saying this, but Denver and Green Bay may have made the two best hires. Holy hell.

Carolina Panthers have informed LB Thomas Davis Sr. that they are not bringing him back for next season. He is officially a free agent.

Kyler Murray is said to be declaring for the NFL draft
Well the A's gamble look like it will not pay off and they can't get that pick back either
Can probably pursue the money tho

Why wouldn’t you choose baseball over football? I’ll give you football is a bigger sport but you’ll make more in baseball, play longer and probably won’t wind up a physical mess.
He’s also listed at 5’11 so he’s probably 5’9... not sure how many hits he takes in the NFL

With the Gase hire, New York sports radio is going to be a joy to listen to this afternoon.

I was gonna ask if the Jets could do anything right.
But then I remembered, they are the Jets.

He’s also listed at 5’11 so he’s probably 5’9... not sure how many hits he takes in the NFL His best-case scenario is to mirror Russell Wilson's career. Wilson is also a 5-foot-11 quarterback who can move the pocket and make plays with his legs or his arm, so it's not like it's impossible for Kyler Murray to find success in the NFL. That said, Johnny Manziel was also a shorter-than-average star quarterback in college who was dangerous on the run, so who knows how it'll work out. But yes, on the whole, I agree with the argument that if I were in Murray's cleats, I'd choose baseball over football. It's significantly less taxing physically, there's more money to be had if you're a star, and contracts are fully guaranteed, so if you hit free agency as a quality big leaguer, you can set yourself up for life. Meanwhile, in football you've got a much shorter window to make as much money as possible and as a mobile quarterback, he'd be dealing with the potential for more dangerous and concussive blows.

While what has been said about baseball vs. football is true, there's also no guarantee you make it or stay in the majors. I don't know a whole lot about Murray's baseball skills, but I would take the NFL money. You can make bank holding a clipboard, where you could potentially be playing Bull Durham for years and years in baseball.
