List your favorite athletes who absolutely dogged in for your franchise?
When things were so full of despair for the said athlete, they gave up and gave next to 0% effort.
Vince Carter, Raptors, 2004-05. He said he won't dunk anymore and apparently he was giving away plays to the opposition.

Although, I'm not sure Jay Cutler ever stopped trying because I'm not sure he ever tried in the first place.

Can name players but there been moments when the whole team just half hearted it. Last season for the Blues they had a stretch where you can tell most everyone played half hearted and some where so bad they got benched. Coahc called them out. The STL Cardinals under Mike Matheny is another one. Look at the team now and look at it a couple months ago. Night and day when you look at them as a whole and I'm not just talking about the rookies. Just overall the simple plays mistakes a lot of players where making are gone. Being one of the worst defensive teams all of sudden became one of the best. Bullpen I can't say only because it turned around because most of the players are fresh faces from a couple months ago.

It seems to me that the second something happens to Aaron Rogers the entire Green Bay Packers franchise stops trying.
A lot of the time a twenty-one point deficite (even with Rogers) does the same thing.
Really, one bad series derails that entire team

Not a franchise but if we are talking about an athlete who gave up then Roberto Duran is on the list no doubt

My favorite football player for years and year was Warren Sapp. In 03 though he left the Buccaneers for the Raiders. He had one good year, then time caught up with his lack of work ethic and he got pretty out of shape. It was sad watching him get pushed around every down and be one of the more overpaid players in the league.

Albert Haynesworth. After he cashed in on the record-breaking 100 million dollar contract. Slob.

Johny Hendricks after Lawler took the Welterweight belt from him. Ended up being a punchline thanks to his weight failures, the loss of his dreaded punching power, and the loss of his chin.

Derrick Rose is too recent a case to ignore. Once that knee injury got him, he got skittish about coming back. Always some reason why he couldn't play, even though doctors tell him he's alright.
Got so bad he was given a nickname, General Soreness. The Derrick Rose statue at United Center will be an empty folding chair because he couldn't be bothered to even show up to games in a suit and tie.

Speaking of Cutler, who could forget him riding the bike on the sideline during the NFC title game against Green Bay? I was watching that at the airport in Baltimore at the time and it had no sound, so I didn't have the context. It seemed like he was either pulled for sucking too much or that he just didn't want to be in there. I always kinda view him and Phillip Rivers as the two sides of the douche coin but Rivers is at least a die hard competitor, one who played an AFC title game with a bad ACL. Speaking of that game vs. the Pats how about LaDainian Tomlinsom just playing a series or two and then just leaving the game despite not being all THAT hurt.

Albert Haynesworth got huge money due to Dan Snyder being a dumbass and then couldn’t even be bothered to stay in shape and was a general nuisance.

Yea, D Rose saying something to the effect of he wants to be able to walk with his son or something to that affect took away all his goodwill in Chicago
He can be referenced over the last 2 years too. He got on a plane and didn't tell the Knicks anything because he missed his son. He left the Cavs for a while too because he suffered an injury and he sort of fell back mentally.
I understand having injury after injury can be very taxing on the brain but if Kobe is a guy you point too who played through pain, can't say the same all that much about Rose.

I thought that was the coach decision to leave him out the full game ?

You can look at his fellow Chicagoan Jabari Parker, who has had 2-3 ACL injuries already but he's working hard constantly to get back on the court.

Rose is mentally fragile and I can see why to an extent after he was what we thought would be a HOF path but he got gun shy after the injury and never really recovered
The crazy thing is he still talented and can contribute in the league but his mindset will always be what turns franchises away. If he doesn't rebuild his value in Minnesota under Tibbs then he may be done. On the right team he can be a contributor like Shaun Livingston is for GS

That's what I mean. At the time the screen I was watching had no audio with the Cutler thing so I was left to think he was just either sucking badly or didn't want to be there. It's entirely possible it was a coaches decision but the dude didn't seem all that bad off watching it.
