I may be biased, but it does seem that Kawhi Leonard might have quit on the Spurs. I say might because I can't for sure say that his injury wasn't legit, but if it is shown that he milked it then he has earned this dishonor.

Darrelle Revis comes to mind.
After he won a Super Bowl ring with the Patriots in 2014, he signed a five-year, $70 million contract with the Jets and got (literally) fat and happy, looking visibly out of shape during his second run with New York as he was roasted by opposing receivers - regardless of whether they were studs or retreads.
Two seasons into that five-year deal, the Jets had released him and he didn't find a home until midway through the 2017 season, signing with the Chiefs but barely appearing during the final six games of the season. The most memorable play in his post-Patriots career is probably when he deflected a Marcus Mariota pass back to Mariota for a touchdown in the Wild Card round.
At age 33, when some aging cornerbacks decided to convert to safety to prolong their Hall of Fame careers (Rod Woodson and Charles Woodson immediately come to mind), Revis retired.

Although, I'm not sure Jay Cutler ever stopped trying because I'm not sure he ever tried in the first place. Cutler is someone who has the physical talent but absolutely no football IQ or any shred of heart to go with it

Derrick Rose stopped giving a f*** and he just blew off the team by leaving and not telling anyone.

In fairness to Revis I think that his skill just eroded badly on top of him finally getting the big money and got fat and happy as you said
It was clear Year 1 with the Jets during that deal he's lost some skill. He had been campaigning about a move to safety but I guess teams figured he is falling off a cliff skill wise and because he got his money the passion isn't there as it used to be

The best answer is if you're in a sport where you're part of a pool or field of others like golf.
At one time, some of these guys were good and battling for top prizes every week. Maybe they won a major or two. Now, they're content to do the bare minimum to stay in the top 100 or whatever so they can qualify for next week's event.

Any mid/low tier vet that signs with the Sacramento Kings. Examples include George Hill and Marco Bellineli.
Funny enough, they escape Sacramento and they begin to try again.

Any mid/lower tied vet that signs with TNA Wrestling. Examples include too many to name. Funny enough, they escape TNA and they begin to try again.

Apparently you can stick my girl Angelique Kerber on that list. She gets down a couple of games, she gets frustrated. She starts making mental errors. She gets down, she get into "f*** it" mode. She's got a helluva lot of talent, really good, but this attitude I described is why she only has 3 majors.

Johny Hendricks after Lawler took the Welterweight belt from him. Ended up being a punchline thanks to his weight failures, the loss of his dreaded punching power, and the loss of his chin. Agreed except he didn’t lose his chin. He gained a couple

How about Oliver McCall during his second fight with Lennox Lewis? One of the most bizarre things I've seen in sports.

Vontae Davis literally retired at halftime during a game yesterday. That takes "stopped trying and gave up" to incredible new heights.

I could add a few Knicks to the list but the one I can think of is Jerome James
They gave that man like $30 million and he was in decent shape in Seattle and came to NY fat and happy
Don't even think he made it through the season

I have been reading sports history and watching sports most of my life and have never heard of a non injured player quit and retire mid game. This is definitely uncharted territory. However, part of me really can't blame him because the Bills might be worse than the Browns last year, at least in terms of point differential.
