Jared Jeffries: He was just a bum overall
I was a fan of the guy personally (local boy who led my alma mater on a Cinderella run and then made the pros, after all), I felt the Knicks massively overpaid him. Still, it isn't fair to call him a bum. He stuck around the league for 13 years, did better than others, and retired to go to the executive side of the league. Massively overpaid is the word indeed
For the money they gave him I swear he played like 30 mins a game and somehow only ended up for 5 points and 4 rebounds

God, the Cubs did so many bad ones...
Soriano, Big Z, Milton Bradley, Fukudome (one of my great regrets in life is that Harry Carey wasn't alive to murder that name), Dusty Baker, Wood/Prior, LaTroy Hawkins
It's really amazing Hendry kept his job as long as he did.
As far as deferred money, I think that's going to become more and more common. The Nationals have a ton of deferred money going to different players (Strasburg and Scherzer are two that spring to mind). If it wasn't the fact that it is against MLB rules, I'm sure some team would have offered ownership stake to a player.

Teams would have probably gaave LeBron a percentage of their team in his prime to have him for 4 years

I'm sitting here waiting for the Phillies to be anchored to Harper and/or Machado for a decade.

In like 1997 Wayne f***ing Gretzky was in contract talks with my Vancouver Canucks. The Canucks call him at like 2am and agree, he goes great. They say, "Well, come on down and sign" He says, "Yeah, it's 2am I agree, I'll be down at a reasonable hour and sign" They go, "It's now or never" He goes, "Goodnight"
And that's the story of how Wayne Gretzky wasn't a Vancouver Canuck.
