This week's Gems are.... WrestleMania 2 Press Conference WrestleMania 3 Press Conference WrestleMania 4 Press Conference WrestleMania 9 Dark Match; Apr. 4, 1993 Papa Shango vs. "El Matador" Tito Santana (includes commentary from Jim Ross) WWF Superstars Unaired Segment; Feb. 22, 1994 Vince McMahon interviews Lex Luger and Jim Cornette WWF Superstars Unaired Segment; Feb. 20, 1996 Vince McMahon interviews WWF President Roddy Piper and Razor Ramon That's a hell of a list right there, looking forward to watching it. The Luger segment, isn't that the one where they had Luger come out with the title to see how it would look? Yeah, pretty much. Luger came out, stole the belt from Cornette, then Vince was like "let's see what it would look like if Lex Luger becomes the champion!" He then had the ring announcer introduce Luger as the new champion as Luger did a full ring entrance with the belt. This segment would have aired the first or second weekend after WrestleMania. It's also been said that Vince had already decided by February that Bret was getting the title, meaning this was done as a decoy.

Is the Wrestlemania 3 Press Conference the same one that was on the VHS way back in the day? The one where Mean Gene says something to Bobby Heenan about Hulk always looking up to Andre and Helena reminds with “that’s because he’s 7ft 5”.

I was watching during that period and I never knew about that Luger segment until now. Sounds pretty cool.

This sounds like one of the best weeks of Hidden Gems yet, the press conferences alone will be fascinating.

Great stuff with Tito vs Shango, this was only mentioned yesterday in the Mania 9 thread. Looking forward to that!

No, it's a different one, I wish it was that one as I found those clips entertaining than the one they showed. Just saw Luger's segment being introduced as the WWF Champion and coming out with the belt, the crowd was kind of mild for it. It's titled "Luger's Golden Opportunity" and mistakenly labeled as 2/22/84, when it should be 2/22/94. Though the segment feels like something they would have used if he had won, they had the music play and had his Lex Luger insignia on the big screen, I could see them using it as the intro to the show if they went with him.

Wow, the homophobia in the Razor/Piper interview is...rather uncomfortable by today's standards.
It's surreal to actually watch the Shango/Santana match after years of that one still image being the only proof it happened at all.

So did Jim do the commentary for Shango/Santana because they were going to use it on a Coliseum Video but then shelved those plans?

Well, they accidentally listed the Luger segment as being in 84 instead of 94, so you'll have to scroll to 84 to find it. As for the rest, I had no problem finding them by scrolling to their respective years.

I loved it when JR called an audible to Bruce Pritchard during the Santana/Shango WM 9 dark match I guess JR really wanted a test run before the PPV began

Happy to finally see the Shango/Santana match uploaded.
Hopefully they have dark match footage from other early '90s PPVs in their archives. I know photos of Paul Roma vs. The Brooklyn Brawler at WM 6 and The Bushwhackers vs. The Beverly Brothers at WM 8 exist.

Wow, slow week I guess. I mean, I may watch it to see how DiBiase carried Magee through a match but that's about it.

I recall at least seeing their entrance.

WWF @ Huntsville, AL - Von Braun Civic Center - August 10, 1992 WWF Superstars taping: All American Wrestling - 9/13/92: The Beverly Brothers (w/ the Genius) defeated the Bushwhackers at 6:07 when Blake pinned Butch with an elbow drop as Beau held Butch's legs down from the outside after tripping him; after the bout, another referee came out and reversed the decision (the version of the match aired on the 9/28/92 Prime Time Wrestling did not show the part where the decision was reversed) (WWF Wrestling World Tour)

I thought for sure I recalled the entrances to their match taking place in that roofless Hoosier Dome. Ah well, thanks for the correction.
