Patriots as constructed are not a great team. The lack of defensive playmakers is really troubling. They needed to do a lot of work on that side of the ball and instead of trying to improve they added a bunch of stop gaps and put together a “bend and only occasionally break” defense that doesn’t work unless you have a dominant offense.
But the Chiefs' defense is pretty suspect so maybe Brady finds a way to throw 7.
I get that, but the Colts defense was pretty suspect before the season started and wound up playing most of the game without 7 of their defensive starters (Margus Hunt also missed some downs as well) and Brady did not drop 7 TDs on them. Granted, it sure seemed like he could have, but didn't. Even worse if you are a Patriots fan, the Colts also were missing 5 starters on offense and the game was still a one possession game at some point early in the 4th quarter. They are going to have to play much better if they expect to beat KC.
On the plus side for the Patriots, they have 10 days to get ready for KC, and Belichick is good at using that time.

Gordon and Edelman should be even more integrated into the offense. James White is having a terrific season, Sony Michel is starting to show first round talent and Gronk isn’t going to stay subdued forever. This offense should be legit but with a defense void of any playmakers and not too many stars at different levels they’ll have a REALLY tough time with an offense like KC
