Don't really have an opinion on it, but at the back of my head thought that it would be amusing if the money that paid for the painting gets shredded as well.

One of the first things I saw about this was a tweet showing someone from the band Massive Attack in the auction audience seemingly making a quick exit before the shredding.
A Google search shows that this connection between Banksy and Massive Attack had been made a few years ago, too.

And, of course, people are saying the painting has now doubled in value because of his stunt. Honestly I bet that was expected. "Fine Arts" is pretty much a scam where they control the price if they can find any stupid reason they want to.
