I was just thinking about how jacked up it was that in MMA they have two sets of rules in the US currently. States who adopted the most recent set of rules have fights one way, and states who have not have different rules. These rules may seem minor but any time even a tiny rule is different the potential for something whacky to happen is there.
Are there any other major sports who have this problem?

It's not state to state but there is a different set of rules between the collegiate and pro levels in football and basketball.

The major sports are run by nationwide federations that have a universal set of rules. The only real difference is baseball where the American League and National League have different rules concerning the designated hitter but that doesn't have to do with individual states.
Though I have to imagine that boxing has similar rules to MMA in that regard.

In Iowa you have to have a drink in your hand to officially be playing Cornhole while in Wisconsin you need to be within 20 feet of sausage or cheese to officially be playing.
