Well guess this be our early Playstation 5 thread. At this point it's a matter of time before we get blueprints and a date

You'd think with the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X, we wouldn't be rushing into Generation X so quickly.
But, Sony decided to throw down the gauntlet.

I mean, as they’ve said the console’ll probably won’t be announced until 2021 at the very earliest, this is pretty much in the same way Microsoft was this year in that they’re in the stages but they won’t go fully in until WAY later so it’s a strange thing for them to be coming out with.

Console cycles have usually been at most 5 years and the PS4 and Xbox One’ll celebrate their 6th year on the market this November.

Yea when it's all said and done the PS4 will have been out longer then the PS3 or just as long considering that had a 7 year run and if we assume PS5 comes out 2021 as they been saying that would give the P5 an 8 year run
PS2 had a 6 year run I believe

I'll probably wait and buy it (or the next Xbox, we'll see which is better this time around) a year or so after launch. Unlike Nintendo where they take an eternity to drop game prices if they ever do making it more economical to get stuff as it releases, with Sony and Microsoft it's a lot cheaper and easier to just load up on stuff after the fact.

But the Switch came out last year. Jesus. Yea, that had me go WTF cause I want a switch Nintendo is probably trying to break their curse of low 3rd Party Support by keeping the system power up. The Switch is already far behind the curve and sales for games available cross console have been bad because of it. This always leads them to their sales models tending to be big initial hits and then steadily declining sales peppered with big Nintendo releases like Smash and Zelda until they release something new.

That's pretty much always been a thing for me. On Nintendo consoles I really only buy Nintendo games and always have one of the others for everything else.

The main difference is the start of this generation took forever to actually really start. like the first xbox one and PS4 games were remasters of last gen games... for like a year and a half.

The Switch thing might just be an update like the New 3ds and not a full new console.

you may say it's early but there was a time where you could set your watch to a new console coming out every five years, and it wasn't that long ago.

Keep in mind for like 6 months as well it was hard to even get a damn console cause them shits kept selling out. Even when they released it for pre-order you had to literally order it within a few mins otherwise it got sold out
