NWA Wrestling [75%] Episode #20 12/10/11 TAPED in Atlanta, Georgia Announcers: Steve Prazak & Peter LaSalle - After the show intro and that dope Lupe Fiasco song, the camera goes straight to the ring where Bob Backlund is standing all serious-like. Backlund addresses the brutal assault he suffered at the hands of Bad Bones last week, mentioning that heâs been advised by the NWA Executive Board to fire Bones. Shockingly, Backlund declines that option. He talks about how as a commissioner, he was both legally and morally obligated to not lay a hand on any NWA superstar. Thatâs why, effective immediately, he is stepping down from his position as Commissioner. Earlier today, he did sign a match for Starrcade as one of his last acts in power. Bad Bones vs. Bob Backlund! Backlund says that Bones may have gotten the jump on him last week but on December 18th, he wasnât gonna be facing NWA Commissioner Bob Backlund. He was facing the 2-time WW(W)F champion, the master of the Chicken Wing, MR. BACKLUND! [74%]Â
1. Even though they only officially became a team three days ago, the Stellar Ninja Squad have a huge opportunity in front of them as they face The BLKOUT in a non-title match. Jeez & Ruckus had a tougher night than they expected, eating several dives to the outside. In the end, however, they prove why they are the champs by connecting with the Death Sentence to RV1. Good opener. [**Ÿ]Â
- Drake Younger is backstage with Tommy Dreamer. Heâs asked to address the news that came out this week that Eddie Kingston is going on a indefinite sabbatical. Before Drake can get two words, he drops a charging Sami Calihan with a punch! Jon Moxley soon comes in as well and Drake, after initially holding his own, is overwhelmed by the numbers advantage. The Switchblade Connection lay out Dreamer as well because lol, itâs Dreamer. Leaning over Drakeâs fallen body, Sami says that they got a call from their boy Eddie Kingston that there was a âultraviolent sell outâ that needs to be taught a lesson. âSince Eddie canât be here, weâre here to teach that lesson. School is in session, Drakey boy.â [73%]Â
2. In what is essentially a showcase for Jimmy Rave, the former world title challenger defeats Shiima Xion. Fun match as Xion doesnât get in a lot of offense but for the few moves he does, he looks good doing them. The announcers mainly use this as a way to plug tonightâs main event where Austin Aries will reveal the 4th and final member of his team for War Games. [**Ÿ]Â
- After the match, Chuck Taylor comes out onto the stage with a mic. He buries Jimmy Rave for destroying his set, claiming that he destroyed $30,000 worth of equipment. Taylor demands that Rave reimburse him but of course, Rave is like âhell nah.â Since he canât get his money back, Taylor challenges Rave to a match at Starrcade. âIâm gonna beat $30,000 out of your ass!â Rave accepts before we quickly cut commercial. [80%]Â
- We get an in-ring interview with Randy Orton, conducted by Steve Prazak. The interview is going fine when Orton abruptly cuts it off, saying that heâs not gonna participate in this âfluff piece of an interviewâ any longer. âIf people want to see me do anything, they better be willing to pay for it.â When Prazak points out that this crowd here in Atlanta DID pay to see him, he calls them a bunch of hillbillies that still donât deserve to see him. âJust when I think Iâve seen in the ugliest person in Atlanta, my eyes land on somebody else. This entire state is nothing but a cesspool of failures and washouts!â Orton leaves the ring to plenty of boos from the crowd, officially cementing himself as a dastardly heel. [95%]Â
3. Jerry Lynn ended up looking at the lights last week thanks to some brass knuckles. Heâs looking for a different outcome this week as he locks up with Shawn Daivari. Very good, old school match here. Lynn got his shine, Daivari took over and got the heat before the veteran made a comeback, culminating in the Cradle Piledriver that earned Lynn the win. Ray Gordy tries to get some revenge by attacking Lynn post-match but the vet ends up yeeting the rapper outside of the ring. [***Âœ]Â
- Derrick Bateman is munching on a salad at catering when he spots Ryan Eagles walking by. Since he needs to talk shit every day to keep his teeth white, he calls the Australian out for sticking his nose in where it doesnât belong, referring to his recent issues with Paul Burchill and Keith Hansen. Bateman wonder if Eagles has a napoleon complex to intentionally target heavyweights like Burchill & Hansen while the pyromaniac is âoh so tiny.â Eagles, fully aware heâs on the shorter side, loses his cool and tackles Bateman to the ground. The two roll around on the ground brawling for a bit before security breaks it up. Bateman hasnât even been on the roster for a week and heâs already made an enemy! [68%]
4. Hurricane Helms has a match scheduled with Low-Ki on the 18th but he better focus on his opponent tonight as NWA Worldâs Champion Kevin Steen would love some momentum going into his Starrcade title defense. The belt isnât on the line here but that doesnât stop Helms from bringing the fight to the champion. Following a Clothesline off the top rope, a Shining Wizard from Helms has Steen seeing stars but he still manages to kick out at two. Flexing for the crowd, Helms raises his hand high to signal for the Hurri-Chokeslam. Steen connects with a Headbutt! The superhero is stunned as Steen sends him tumbling to the outside. In a flash, the world champ snatches up a chair from ringside and whacks Helms with it! This match is over thanks to a DQ but that doesnât stop Steen from wrapping the chair around Helmsâ shoulder and sending him crashing chair-first into the ring post! The usually smiling Helms is howling in agony as backstage geeks flood the ringside area to get Steen away from his prey. [***Ÿ] Â
- Before heading to the back, Kevin Steen makes sure to snatch the headset off an announcer to send a message to Tyler Black. âHey Tyler, you see what I just did to our neighborhood superhero? Thatâs what Iâm willing to do when this (*lifts up world title*) isnât on the line. Imagine what Iâll do when it is.â [70%]Â
5. The main event was advertised as Jay Lethal & Xavier Creed vs. Austin Aries and whoever the 4th man on Ariesâ War Games team is. After coming out, Aries waits a couple of seconds for his partner to come out...Jeff Hardy! We know that Jeff is familiar with the BLKOUT as he and his brother unsuccessfully challenged for the tag titles at Scars & Stars. This winds up being a solid main event that gets the fans rocking during the finishing stretch. It comes down to Aries trying to plant Lethal for a Brainbuster but Creed manages to yank his leader back down. Aries quickly disposes of Creed and goes for the move again but Lethal reverses it into a Small Package cradle. Ariesâ shoulders are down and thereâs the three count! Once again, Lethal has pinned Aries thanks to Xavier Creedâs interference. [***]Â

NWA Wrestling [72%] Episode #21 12/17/11 TAPED in Atlanta, Georgia Announcers: Steve Prazak & Peter LaSalle
1. Weâre only one day away from Starrcade LIVE on PPV and we start off the go-home show with some in-ring action between Keith Hansen & Derrick Bateman. The action winds up being acceptable but unremarkable before Bateman pins Hansen thanks to some feet on the ropes! [*Ÿ]
- Derrick Bateman is gloating up the ramp when we suddenly hear some unfamiliar music. The face that comes out is familiar, however, as Adam Pearce is a multiple time NWA Worldâs Champion. He comes out in a suit and quickly announces that heâs been selected by the NWA Board of Directors to become the new Commissioner, effective immediately. As such, heâs adding another match to Starrcade. A âshowcaseâ four-corners match between Ryan Eagles, Paul Burchill, Derrick Bateman, & Keith Hansen! Bateman doesnât seem super pleased by the news as he pouts before we go to commercial. [70%]
- After commercial, we see Adam Pearce in his new office talking to Jerry Lynn. The new commissioner quickly informs Lynn that heâs been scheduled for a huge match at Starrcade against none other than âThe Viperâ Randy Orton. Yes, Ortonâs first match is coming with literally oneâs day notice. Feel free to call me a trash booker. For what itâs worth, Lynn thanks Pearce for the opportunity and says that he plans on shocking the world when he defeats the Legend Killer. [77%]
2. In preparation for his match with Bob Backlund tomorrow, Bad Bones destroys Cliff Compton in four minutes or so. Compton gets in a few shots but heâs completely overwhelmed before getting murked by the Big Boot. [*Âœ]
- Steve Prazak conducts an in-ring interview with NWAâs local superhero, Hurricane Helms. His arm is still in a sling following last weekâs brutal attack by Kevin Steen. After getting pleasantries out of the way, Prazak asks the question on everybodyâs mind. Is he medically cleared for his match with Low-Ki tomorrow? Helms explains that there IS a possibility that he could compete tomorrow but his doctors have strongly advised against it. According to them, any further stress to his injured arm could result in long-term muscle damage. Out comes Low-Ki. The World Warrior appears sympathetic to Helmsâ plight but mentions that he doesnât think itâs fair to the fans to not have the match on such short notice and encourages Helms to wrestle tomorrow. Ki even promises to not attack Helmsâ injured arm during the bout. Helms is reluctant but after hearing the cheers of the fans, he canât say no and shakes the honorable warriorâs hand. [72%]
3. Jon Moxley and Drake Younger have a super heated bout that goes all over ringside. They brawl and they brawl and they brawl, clearly familiar with each other from their CZW days. The ref gives both men some leeway, not disqualifying them in situations where he otherwise might. Mox hits nothing but mat on an Elbow Drop attempt and quickly finds himself getting dropped on his head courtesy of Drakeâs Landing! Thatâs enough to get Drake the win. [***]
- The match might be over but the fighting isnât as Sami Calihan runs out to jump Drake Younger. Just when it looks like weâre gonna have a repeat of last week where The Switchblade Conspiracy laid Younger out, Tommy Dreamer comes running down with a Kendo Stick. He may be an announcer but he can still run wild on heels, whacking both men with cane shots before they retreat from the ring. Getting on the mic, Drake challenges The Switchblade Conspiracy to a Falls Count Anywhere match tomorrow which is quickly accepted. Younger will team with none other than the Innovator of Violence, Tommy Dreamer! [65%]
4. In a preview of sorts for War Games tomorrow, Austin Aries, Jeff Hardy, & The Super Smash Brothers defeat the makeshift squad of Shiima Xion, Kaos, & The SoCal Stretching Crew. This winds up being a showcase for the faces as they all get in their signature spots before Hardy gets the win for his team with a Swanton Bomb. [**Œ]
- The BLKOUT cut a short promo backstage, calling themselves a brotherhood and saying that nobody will fight harder for you than your brothers. Jay Lethal says that his men will decimate Team Aries and establish themselves as THE dominant force in the NWA. [75%]
5. Main event time! The TV championship will be defended tomorrow against Rocky Romero. This match between Robert Anthony and Jimmy Rave is meant to decide who will be champion going into that match. The announcers make sure to point out that Rave will pull double duty if he wins tomorrow, defending against Rocky Romero and facing Chuck Taylor in a non-title match. This match kicks all sorts of ass until the 20 minute mark when the match is officially called a time limit draw. The crowd obviously wants âfive more minutesâ based off their chants but before any kind of decision can be made, Chuck Taylor sneaks into the ring and hits Sole Food on Rave! Anthony tries to attack Taylor for his interference but the crafty Kentucky native bails through the crowd. Thanks to a draw, Anthony retains the title tonight but you gotta think him and Rave are gonna tear it up once again to determine a decisive winner at some point. [****]
- A scheduled confrontation between NWA Worldâs Champion Kevin Steen and Starrcade challenger Tyler Black closes out tonightâs show. Black calls tomorrowâs match the biggest of his career, saying that itâs been his lifelong dream to follow the path of guys like Ric Flair, Dusty Rhodes, Harley Race, etc. by winning the NWA Worldâs Championship. For what itâs worth, Steen doesnât seem particularly moved by Blackâs speech, mentioning that heâs taken on the biggest stars the NWA has to offer since becoming Worldâs champion and heâs defeated everybody thatâs been put in front of him. As far as Steen is concerned, Black is nothing but a statistic. Another successful title defense in a long line of defenses during the greatest title run of all time. Amazingly, neither man lays a finger on the other. The show closes out with both guys staring eye to eye before we cut to a video package highlighting the major matches for tomorrowâs PPV. [78%]

STARRCADE [76%] 12/18/11 LIVE from Houston, Texas Attendance: 4,119 Announcers: Steve Prazak & Peter LaSalleÂ
Match #1 4-Corners Match Ryan Eagles vs. âThe Ripperâ Paul Burchill vs. âMantasticâ Derrick Bateman vs. âOutlawâ Keith Hansen We got a fancy new ring and stage set-up for our first ever traditional PPV event and this Houston crowd is HOT as the competitors come out for the opening match. All four guys would love to raise their stock with a win on PPV but only one can walk out victorious. This match is a bit of a âsampler plateâ, giving fans an idea of the style of each man. Burchill hurls men like sacks of potatoes to showcase his âBritish Strong Style.â Hansen isnât afraid to trade blows with anybody and spends a good portion of the match brawling with Bateman on the outside. Eagles shows his complete disregard for his own safety with his generally chaotic style, taking several reckless dives, clearly not caring if he connects or crashes to the ground. Bateman showcases his ring smarts, picking his spots as if he was a much more seasoned competitor. This plays into the finish as he manages to avoid a charging Hansen while they are brawling on the outside, causing him to go crashing into the steel steps. The fans are scattering like roaches as Eagles gets the better of Burchill in the ring, planting him with a Standing Sliced Bread. He goes for the cover but gets thrown out by Bateman! The former NXT star picks up the scraps and pins Burchill for the win! [**ÂŒ]
Match #2 Falls Count Anywhere Tag Team Match The Switchblade Conspiracy (Sami Calihan & Jon Moxley) vs. Drake Younger & Tommy Dreamer When Eddie Kingston announced that he was going on a sabbatical earlier this month, many fans naturally assumed that his feud with Drake Younger would be put on hold. Plans changed when Jon Moxley & Sami Calihan got involved, citing that they are fighting on Kingstonâs behalf. While targeting Younger, Tommy Dreamer got caught in the crossfire and is now here to back up Drake. This match winds up being a fun, brutal sprint. Itâs almost like a stunt show as the match is just one big spot after another. Dreamer and Younger staple a stop sign to Samiâs head to set the tone early on but things quickly escalate when Moxley drags a cheese grater across Dreamerâs head. Younger also gets some color thanks to a chair shot from Sami but that doesnât stop him from Suplexing Mox through a table on the outside. Things look bad for the faces when Moxley introduces a barbed wire bat into the match, wreaking havoc on both of his opponents. Sami drills Younger with a Piledriver but somehow, the Naptown Dragon kicks out. The heels try to finish him off with a Spike Piledriver but Dreamer is there to low-blow Sami and cause him to drop Drake. A vulnerable Mox gets tossed off the top rope and sent through his second table of the night! My god! A bloodied Dreamer flexes for the hoes before tossing a Kendo Stick to Younger. WIth a Kendo Stick of his own in hand, both men lay waste to Sami, leaving all sorts of nasty red marks on his back. After about a dozen shots or so, Younger peels Sami off the mat to deliver the exclamation point. Drakeâs Landing! The good guys get the W. [**Ÿ]
Match #3 Grudge Match Bad Bones (w/ Father James Mitchell) vs. âMisterâ Bob Backlund
Next up is a match thatâs been building for nearly two months. Bad Bones got into a heated confrontation with then-Commissioner Backlund, causing the NWA representative to suspend Bones for 30 days without pay. Disrespected by this, Bones immediately targeted Backlund once his suspension was up, sending the former WW(W)F Champion face-first into a car window. Backlund, instead of firing Bones, instead decided that he wanted the smoke and made this match as his last official act in power. Backlund comes to the ring in classic attire, complete with the towel over his neck. Despite being 61 years old, he still looks like heâs in damn good shape.
So, this match donât last long. Both men go for a test of strength which Backlund surprisingly wins. Mitchell is in disbelief that his âmonsterâ is getting overpowered by a man older than Mitchell was but Bones remedies the situation by catching Backlund with a cheap shot. He puts the boots to his opponent in the corner before going to the opposite corner, clearly setting up for the Big Boot. Somehow, Backlund is able to duck under it and slap on the Chicken Wing Crossface! The Houston crowd is going nuts as Bones is slowly fading, falling to one knee. Mitchell is crying for his monster to do something and Bones answers the call, eventually muscling his way out of the hold. A determined Backlund tries to go for his signature hold again but he gets whipped off the ropes. BIG BOOT! That puts out Backlundâs lights and Bones has no problem making the cover. The whole match, in total, went about 90 seconds but hey, it was fun while it lasted. [*Âœ]Â
Match #4 Singles Match âSexyâ Chuck Taylor vs. âFine Like Wineâ Jimmy RaveÂ
Chuck Taylor started beef with Jimmy Rave on the first edition of his talk show, resulting in Rave destroying the set and running Taylor off. Ever since then, Taylor has been trying to make Raveâs life miserable. Solid, lengthy match here as Chuckie T goes after his rivalâs leg, targeting it with chop blocks and stomps. While this is generally a sound strategy, Taylorâs ultimate goal is revealed when he tries to slap on the Heel Hook only for Rave to wiggle his way out. The Kentucky native wants to defeat his opponent with his own submission! Rave, now aware of his rivalâs devious plan, isnât gonna just allow himself to be put in his hold and starts firing off shots. Just when it seems like heâs gonna get some momentum going, Taylor goes right back to the knee and sends Rave crumpling to the ground. The fans rally behind Rave as he fights from underneath but Taylor manages to roll his opponent over and apply the Heel Hook! Taylor is sitting deep on the hold as Rave hollers in pain, just barely having enough strength to pull himself to the ropes. Chuckie T goes for the hold again but Rave punches his way out, fighting his way to a standing base before sending Taylor sprawling to the outside with a RIDICULOUS Back Body Drop. Taylorâs body just went SPLAT~ on the pretty black mats. Chuckie T barely beats the 20 count but finds himself getting caught up in the ring ropes. Rope-hung DDT from Rave! He just spiked Taylor on the crown of his head. Both men slowly recover on the mat before Rave stands up first. Ghanarea! Thatâll do it! Once again, Raveâs resilience and endurance pulls through. The fans chant his name as he heads to the back, making sure to slap hands with plenty of fans. Itâs weird. Almost unintentionaly , heâs become one of our most popular faces. [***1/4]
- Itâs worth noting that Danny Havoc, beer in hand, has been spotted in the front row. When asked why heâs here, Havoc explained that he has a special interest in âolâ Randallâs match.â Hmmmm...
Match #5 Winner Receives Future TV Championship Match âThe World Warriorâ Low-Ki vs. Hurricane HelmsÂ
Back in September, it came down to these two men fighting on a ladder to decide the inaugural NWA TV Champion. Helms came out victorious that day but Ki has wanted a rematch ever since. Now that heâs taken care of Teddy Hart, he can now focus on his march towards the title that he was inches away from. For five minutes or so, this is a squeaky clean wrestling match. True to his word, Ki goes out of his way to avoid attacking Helmsâ injured arm, instead engaging in some chain wrestling with the handicapped superhero. Both men appear to be even when it happens. A kick from Ki lands flush on Helmsâ bad arm. For a second, the hero looks to Ki to see if it was a mistake before taking another kick to the arm! Almost as if a switch has gone off in his head, Kiâs whole demeanor changes as he begins a vicious assault on Helmsâ injured wing. The fans, initially supportive of both men, turn on Ki as he breaks his word. Helms tries to fight back but he just canât do much with that arm being targeted. It comes down to the World Warrior methodically stomping on Helmsâ arm, causing it to shift into awkward angles. An uncomfortable silence comes over the crowd as the ref finally calls it in Kiâs favor, acknowledging that thereâs no way Helms can continue the match as he canât intelligently defend himself. The boos are loud and clear as the ref raises Kiâs hand. The World Warrior has earned a future title match but perhaps at the cost of his sense of honor. This was more of an angle but the match but the crowd reaction was *mwah*. Overnight, Kiâs become one of the most hated men in the company. [***Ÿ]Â
Match #6 Singles Match âThe Living Legendâ Jerry Lynn vs. âThe Viperâ Randy OrtonÂ
Itâs the time for the NWA in-ring debut of the youngest world champion in WWE history. As he poses in the ring, Orton stares a hole in Havoc. Lynn is technically the babyface here but you could never tell just watching this match. The former ROH champ does all of his usual babyface tactics, playing to the crowd, sympathetic selling, etc. The issue is that this crowd came to see Randy Orton and they let the world know it by cheering him on the entire way. Even when Orton uses a poke to the eye to take control, the fans still cheer him on. Lynn gets in a decent offense but he obviously isnât winning here, eventually falling to the RKO. After the match, Orton gets into a stare down with Danny Havoc at ringside. The two jaw at each other before Havoc throws his beer all over the Viper! An incensed Orton sparks a brawl that has to be separated by security. Havoc is escorted out of the building as he and Orton continue to shout obscenities at each other, none of which are bleeped because the showâs live. Yeah, probably should have put this PPV on a time delay. Ah well, it wouldnât be us if it wasnât a bit ghetto. [**] Match #7 NWA Television Championship âAzucarâ Rocky Romero (w/ Armando Alejandro Estrada) vs. Robert âEgoâ Anthony © Â
A few weeks ago, Robert Anthony stunned Rocky Romero by defeating him for the TV title just a few days after Romero himself won it. Embarrassed by his short run, Romero is looking to become a two-time champion tonight. To the surprise of no-one, these two put on the match of the night as Romero utilizes his striking ability to put the champion in a bad position. Armando is cheering his man on all the way as he gets nearfall after nearfall. Finally, Ego is able to turn the tide with a Standing Spanish Fly. Slowly, both men return to a standing base where the champ takes control, driving the challenger into his knees with a Gutbuster before planting him with a Springboard DDT. Ego heads to the top rope for some kind of dive but gets stopped by Armando Estrada grabbing his ankle. Immediately, the ref admonishes the manager and forces him to break his grip but the pause in action is all the time âAzucarâ needs to go running up the ropes and connect with a Release Belly-to-Belly Suplex off the top rope! Romero crawls into the cover but Ego kicks out at 2.9! The challenger is stunned but his manager is screaming at him to follow up and go for the Tombstone Piledriver. Sure enough, Romero does so but Anthony manages to counter and teases a Tombstone of his own! They continue this game of âTombstone chickenâ until Anthony rolls up Romero. 1, 2, he kicks out! Romero hops back to his feet right into a TKO! Thatâs enough to get the three count! [****ÂŒ]Â
Match #8 War Games The BLKOUT vs. Team AriesÂ
Nearly 25 years ago, Dusty Rhodes developed âThe Match Beyondâ known as War Games. The rules are simple. Each team sends out one man to start the match. Every five minutes, another man will come out. Once all four members on each team have entered the ring, The Match Beyond officially begins and will not end until somebody is forced to submit. We donât have two rings and there ainât no roof to the cage but Iâm hoping this match will live up to its predecessors. Â
To the surprise of no one, the heels won the coin flip earlier tonight to be awarded the man advantage. The experienced Ruckus has been chosen by The BLKOUT to start things out while Austin Aries chooses himself to be the first man in. The two men go at it, getting their licks in until Aries gains the upper hand with a Discus Elbow. A-Double is in fine form as he goes to work on Ruckus, making sure to keep an eye on the clock. Soon enough, five minutes pass and Blk Jeez comes running out to help out his tag partner. Aries holds his own for a minute or so but ends up getting beat down by the tag champs. A Death Sentence lays out the face team captain just when the clock strikes zero. Reinforcements for Aries arrive in the form of Player Uno. The masked video game character runs wild on the heels, paying tribute to Dusty with some Bionic Elbows. Unoâs insertion into the match gives Aries time to recover and join in the fun, sending the tag champs crashing face-first into the steel much to the fansâ enjoyment. Â
*BEEP*Â Â
Time for another man to enter as the leader of the BLKOUT, Jay Lethal, strolls out. Both Uno and Aries are waiting for him to enter but the former Hydro takes his time, jaw-jacking at the faces from the ramp. It turns out to be a ruse as he was just giving his boys inside the ring time to regroup and jump the faces from behind! Now, Lethal is willing to enter the ring as he, Ruckus, and Jeez put the boots to their rivals. âThe Cornerstoneâ instructs his men to hold Aries in place for a Killshot but here comes Player Dos to even up the odds again! Much like his partner, he comes in as a house of fire and turns the tide in favor of Team Aries. Making it clear that they are still gunning for the tag titles, The SSB hit both of the champs with the Fatality before making the âIâmma be championâ signal around their waist. Another five minutes pass as out comes Xavier Creed to complete the roster for his squad.
With all four members in the ring, The BLKOUT take over the match, grinding their opponents into the sharp steel of the cage and drawing blood from Aries. âHardy! Hardy!â chants are already filling the building as the clock counts down the final ten seconds. When the man actually does come out, Jeff Hardy gets the biggest pop of the night. Before he can even enter the cage, heâs met on the outside by Xavier Creed. The two brawl for a bit before Jeff puts Xavier on the backoot, causing him to resort to an eye rake. In a flash, Xavier yanks something out of his tights and grabs Hardyâs hand. By the time Jeff can see again, heâs been handcuffed to the cage! A furious Jeff tries to break free but itâs no use as Xavier mockingly waves at him before hopping back in the ring. Â
Lethal grabs the ref and demands that he âofficiallyâ start the match so a submission can actually occur. The ref is hesitant since technically, not every man has entered the ring but some physical intimidation from the tag champs prompts him to reconsider and follow their commands. With full access to an assortment of weapons and an (unfair) man advantage on their side, the heels lay waste to Team Aries. By the end of the carnage, Player Unoâs mask has been ripped off his head and each member is bleeding significantly. Jeff can only watch from the outside as The BLKOUT drag out the beating the instruction of their leader, telling his boys to âmake a statementâ and âlet the world know who we are.â When heâs finally ready to go for the win, Lethal drags Aries to the middle of the ring and places him in a Figure Four Leg Lock. A-Doubleâs pride is the only thing stopping him from tapping as heâs in a lot of pain and has no help on the way. Â
Just when all hope seems lost, the crowd comes alive as Matt Hardy comes running down with bolt cutters! He frees his brother and daps him up, telling him to âgive emâ hell.â Jeff starts climbing the cage from the outside, making it all the way to the top. HARDY DIVES OFF THE CAGE ONTO THE BLKOUT!!! Jeff has not only fulfilled his â1 crazy bump per monthâ quota but also saved his team. The freshest man in the ring, Jeff rallies the troops and hands each member of his squad a weapon. Similar to how the BLKOUT brutalized them, the faces beat the brakes off their opponents, smashing them with every object they can get a hold of. Hardy sets up a table in the ring and directs traffic, working with the SSB to send Lethal off the ropes before catching him on the rebound with a 3-D through the table! Meanwhile, A-Double grabs Creed and delivers a sickening Brainbuster onto a trash can before quickly transitioning into the Last Chancery. Creed holds on as long as he can but has to tap out! Team Aries survives War Games. [**Âœ] Â
Match #9 NWA Worldâs Heavyweight Championship âGodâs Last Giftâ Tyler Black vs. âMr. Wrestlingâ Kevin Steen © Â
This is it, the big one. Ever since Tyler Black arrived in the NWA, heâs been asking for a shot at the Worldâs Heavyweight Championship. He finally gets that shot here. Kevin Steen has weathered every challenge so far but this might be his toughest to date. As per usual, Steen starts out the match by taking a couple powders to the outside. Black, known for his temper, tries to keep his cool and be patient on the inside. After Steen goes rolling to the outside for a third time, Black has enough and gives chase. Unfortunately, he falls right into Steenâs trap as the champion sends him crashing into the guardrail. Â
Eying the arpon, everybody knows what Steen has in mind. Apron Powerbomb! This one might be over already as Steen rolls the challenger into the ring and makes the cover. Black somehow kicks out! Still feeling the effects of the powerbomb, Black is at the mercy of the championâs back-focused offense. A Sharpshooter takes a lot out of the challenger but he still finds a way to battle back, firing off a Superkick before dropping Steen with the Sling Blade. He tries to lift Steen up for Fade to Black but his back wonât allow him to handle the weight. After a couple blows to the back, Steen hurls the challenger to the outside. After muscling him up and driving him back first into the ring post, Steen forces the challenger to slump in a corner of the guardrail. After taking several paces back, he comes running full force for a Cannonball through the guardrail! Thereâs one issue though, Black wasnât there! The challenger somehow managed to move out of the way at the last second. Dragging himself back into the ring, Black recognizes the ref is counting Steen out on the outside and knows he canât win the title. Gaining some momentum of his own, Black goes to one turnbuckle before running to the opposite corner and flying over the top ring post (not the ropes, mind you. THE RING POST) onto a vulnerable Steen! The challengerâs back has to be in pieces right now but heâs willing to put it all on the line to walk out of Houston with the title. Â
Both guys are damn near dead on the outside as the refâs count gets dangerously close to 20. Suddenly, Adam Pearce appears at ringside and orders the ref to not count both men out and allow this one to continue to a finish. Pearce wants a decisive ending to this one as much as the rest of us! Eventually, both men wander back into the ring and return to a (unsteady) standing base. They trade punches for the âboo/yayâ spot. Jumping Knee to the jaw of Steen! Black bounces off the ropes, LARIAT FROM STEEN! He just turned the challenger inside out. The champ goes for the Package Piledriver but Black rolls through and lands on his feet. Superkick to Steen, The champ is stunned but still on his feet as he stumbles off the ropes right into the challengerâs arms. Black mentally prepares himself before hauling Steen up. Fade to Black! Taking time out to soak in the crowd reaction, Black slowly drags himself to the top rope. He steadies himself on the top rope. Phoenix Splash! Black throws his arm over Steen as the ref makes the count for Black. 1-2-3!!!! Fans are jumping up and down as the ring announcer makes it official. Â
âYour winner AND NEWWWWWWWWWWWWWW NWA Worldâs Heavyweight Champion, âGodâs Last Giftâ Tyler Black!âÂ
Black is clearly overcome with emotion as heâs handed his title, having defeated the dominant Steen and making himself, âThe Man.â The show closes with confetti falling from the sky as Black celebrates in the crowd. "A new era is upon us in the NWA!"Â [***]Â

Hell of a show. I knew Wargames would rock, it's probably my favorite gimmick match lol and BLCKOUT are the perfect guys to fill the Horsemen/Undisputed Era role. I guess with Robert Anthony retaining and Low Ki killing The Hurricane, we know what's coming... RIP Ego... Good for Black on capturing the title. Steen has been a great Champion, but now it's time to see what Tyler can do with the belt.

NWA TV on Syndication 12/21/11 Quick Results- Just a few days before Christmas, Santa Claus is tossing out presents to the crowd when heâs interrupted by Derrick Bateman. Bateman verbally buries Santa but olâ Saint Nick gets the last laugh as he blows a fireball in Batemanâs face before revealing himself to be Ryan Eagles. [70%] - The Party beats C&C Wrestling in a decent match. [**ÂŒ] - Johnny Gargano defeats Shiima Xion with the Hurts Donut. [*3/4] - Randy Orton cuts a pre-taped promo, burying Danny Havoc and calling him a ânobodyâ trying to get famous off of The Viperâs name. [83%] - Stellar Ninja Force continue to show good chemistry, defeating the SoCal Stretching Crew after a Gobstopper from Trenton. [**Ÿ] - In a stellar house show match, Low-Ki forces Rich Swann to submit. The DGUSA import put up a tremendous fight and nearly secured the win before getting caught in the Dragon Sleeper. [***Ÿ] - Backstage, Low-Ki is approached by an unnamed backstage geek about why he broke his word on Sunday but simply walks off without saying a word. [68%] - Despite taking the L on Sunday, Jon Moxley rebounds by defeating Tommy Dreamer in singles action. [*didnât get the star rating for this one, lol*]
NWA Wrestling [69%] Episode #22 12/24/11 TAPED in Houston, Texas Announcers: Steve Prazak & Peter LaSalle - Following his big title win on Sunday, Tyler Black was out to flex for the hoes to start out this weekâs show. After a typical ârah-rahâ babyface promo, heâs interrupted by Austin Aries. Still bandaged up from the wounds he suffered in War Games, Aries congratulates his longtime rival before getting to brass tacks and challenging him to a title match. Before Black can give an answer, heâs interrupted again, this time by Jeff Hardy. Despite being Ariesâ teammate last night, Hardy is out here to campaign for himself to receive the first title match instead of Aries. The trio bicker for a bit before Adam Pearce walks onto the stage with a mic. The NWA Commissioner makes it clear that while he is an employee of the NWA and a representative of the Board of Directors, he also has to appease the network executives at VH1. The network wants star power and the ring is currently full of it. As such, Pearce books tonightâs main event. Aries, Black & Hardy will team up to take on The Switchblade Conspiracy and Paul Burchill. The three men in the ring look at each other with uncertainty before we go to commercial. [68%]1. Building off a victory in War Games on Sunday, The Super Smash Brothersâ good fortunes continue as they defeat the SoCal Stretching Crew with ease. BC is able to hold his own in the ring but the wheels fall off when Gatson gets tagged in. The gymnast quickly allows himself to be isolated and eats a Fatality to earn SSB the win. [**Âœ]- After another disappointing loss, BC has had enough and lays out Brandon Gatson with a Discus Lariat. He yells down at his former friend that heâs going solo before stomping out of the ring. [55%]
- Backstage, Adam Pearce calls Jay Lethal into his office. Lethal incorrectly assumes that the Commish invited him to his office to award him the first shot at Tyler Black. In actuality, Pearce called Lethal in to let him know he had a match scheduled tonight with tag team title implications on his stablemates. If Richie Steamboat defeats Lethal tonight, he and his partner Primo will receive a tag team title shot in 2 weeks on TV! âOh and that match with Steamboat? Itâs up next! I suggest you head to the ring now. âThe Cornerstoneâ certainly isnât happy but canât do much but lead his men out of Pearceâs office. [74%]2. Jay Lethal has a significant experience edge over his opponent but Richie Steamboat doesnât let that stop him from coming out the gates with a strong offensive flurry. The rookie keeps his foe on the back foot as Primo Colon cheers on from ringside, knowing that a potential title match is in the balance. Some Knife Edge chops force Lethal into the corner where Steamboat connects with a Stinger Splash. Lethal is stunned as heâs unaware of baby Steamboat climbing the top rope. Crossbody off the top! 1-2-Lethal kicks out! Shaking his fists with babyface fire, Steamboat goes for another Stinger Splash but eats nothing but turnbuckle. In a flash, Lethal cartwheels off the ropes and connects with the Killshot! It was close but Lethal pulls out the hard-fought victory. [**Ÿ]- After coming out for his scheduled match with Tommy Dreamer, Danny Havoc snatches a mic from a ringside geek and personally lets the fans know that Randy Orton is not here tonight. This draws a ton of boos as Havoc says that Orton hopped on his leer jeet after the PPV and flew home to âhis mamaâs tittyâ in St. Louis. âSince the so-called âViperâ is too scared to fight me, Iâm facing a real man in the form of Tommy Dreamer tonight. Tommy, I love ya man. Youâre a legend in this business but Iâm going after a Legend Killer. I gotta take ya out.â [60%]3. To the surprise of no one, Tommy Dreamer vs. Danny Havoc ends up being a give and take brawl with more punches than wrist locks. The fans loved this one even if the action was somewhat one-dimensional. Dreamer shows that heâs still got something in the tank but itâs not enough to prevent him from taking the L here. A General Order 44 puts away the Innovator of Violence. After the match, the two bump fists as a sign of respect. [***Ÿ]- In a short pre-tape, Jimmy Rave cuts a promo where he talks about going the distance with TV champ Robert Anthony. The journeyman says he wants another shot at the title against whoever wins tonightâs match. âThe second time around, Iâll finish the job.â [65%]4. For twenty minutes, Low-Ki beats the hell out of Robert Anthony in their TV title match. Anthonyâs chest becomes red from Kiâs kicks but he still gets in his own licks, nearly putting the match with a TKO that Ki somehow kicks out. Later in the match, The World Warrior hits his signature Ki Krusher but Ego gets the shoulder up! Ki tries to go for another Ki Krusher but the attempt backfires when Ego somehow turns it into a Stunner! Both men are selling on the mat when the bell rings, signifying that the time limit has expired. For the second week in a row, fans are denied a decisive finish in a TV title match. The fans arenât happy and neither is Ki but thereâs no more TV time to give to these guys since we still have tonightâs main event on tap. [***Ÿ] - Father James Mitchell and Bad Bones come out to the ring to brag about beating Bob Backlund at Starrcade. They donât get far before they are interrupted by Drake Younger. The Naptown Dragon basically calls the sinister duo a couple of hoes for picking an old man like Backlund. âIf you really want a fight, why not go after somebody under 50?â Mitchell asks Younger if he thinks he can be that somebody but before he can answer, heâs attacked by Bad Bones! Bones tosses Younger to the outside before going after hi-WHACK! Younger just threw a chair at Bonesâ head! Drake gets in a couple more shots with the chair before Bones retreats up the ramp with Mitchell in tow. Seems like Younger wants all the smoke. [65%]5. The âstar powerâ trio of Jeff Hardy, Austin Aries, and Tyler Black have trouble working together in tonightâs main event. Some early miscues allow The Switchblade Conspiracy & Paul Burchill to capitalize, cutting the ring in half and stopping Jeff from reaching his partners. Even when Jeff makes the inevitable hot tag, the hiccups continue as Black accidentally nails Aries with a Superkick. The Curb Stomp from Burchill that follows almost spells the end for the faces but Hardy is able to break up the pin. From there, the faces regroup long enough for Hardy to get the win with a Twist of Fate on Sami. After the match, Aries is still hot about the mistimed superkick and gets into a shoving match with the world champ. Jeff inserts himself into the argument as Steve Prazak hurriedly rushes off the air, insisting we are all out of TV time. [**Âœ]

NWA News & Notes January 1st, 2012 By Darius Stone
- Happy New Year, everybody! As per tradition, PWI released their annual Top 100 Wrestlers list for 2011. The NWA didnât have anybody in the top 10 but did have two people crack the top 20 ( Low-Ki at #12 and NWA Worldâs Champion Tyler Black at lucky #13). Other NWA performers on the list include Randy Orton (#32), Kevin Steen (#40), Jay Lethal (#46), Robert Anthony (#50), Jimmy Rave (#53), Jeff Hardy (#67), KENTA (#68), Sami Calihan (#69), Hurricane Helms (#70), Rocky Romero (#74), Rich Swann (#76), Jerry Lynn (#83), Paul Burchill (#88), Eddie Kingston (#91), & Chuck Taylor (#100). Hopefully, the NWA will have a stronger presence on the list next year. - If you missed the December 31st edition of NWA Wrestling on VH1, donât worry. It wound up being a quietly promoted âBest Ofâ special, showing clipped matches from past NWA TV matches last year. The national syndication show on January 3rd will be a clip show as well, showing the three best matches from NWA iPPV/PPV. - The company has promoted this weekâs (live!) VH1 show with two big matches. Robert Anthony will defend his TV title against Low-Ki and Jimmy Rave in a 3-way match. In the main event, Jeff Hardy battles Austin Aries to decide the #1 Contender for the NWA Worldâs Championship. Adam Pearce is promoting that he has a âhuge, groundbreakingâ announcement to make. Also, Teddy Hartâs suspension is officially up so donât be surprised if he pops up. The show is being broadcast from Nashville, Tennessee. - This monthâs iPPV, Winter Classic, will take place on January 29th. Capitalizing on the popularity of recent acquisition Randy Orton, the show will air live from St. Louis, Missouri. The companyâs been building towards an Orton vs. Danny Havoc bout so expect that to be one of the top matches on the show.

NWA Wrestling [73%] Episode #23 1/7/12 LIVE from Nashville, Tennessee Announcers: Steve Prazak & Peter LaSalle
- Adam Pearce starts out this weekâs show with his âhugeâ announcement. Heâs accompanied by Nattie Neidhart for reasons that are soon explained. Pearce goes into a long spiel about how women have historically been marginalized in this business. Far too often, female competitors are judged by their looks and not their in-ring abilities. âThe NWA wants to change that trend. We want to serve as THE premier place for professional wrestlers of any gender.â As such, Pearce announces that starting next week, the NWA will host a 12-woman round robin tournament.
The twelve competitors will be randomly divided into two blocks. Each woman will have one (1) match against every woman in their block. A win is worth two points, a draw is worth one, an L gets you nothing. At the end of the round robin portion, the field will be cut down to four competitors based off the top two point earners in each block. When it comes down to the final four, the tournament becomes single elimination. Whoever survives that will receive the revived NWA Womenâs Championship!
We get a rundown on the big screen of each competitor in the tournament, complete with a short highlight package. The competitors are:
- April Lee (TAFKA AJ Lee; former NXT Season 3 competitor) - Cheerleader Melissa (Seasoned vet of the independents) - Gail Kim (Former WWE Womenâs Champion & 1st ever TNA Knockouts Champion) - Ivelisse Velez (Former Tough Enough Competitor) - Jacqueline Moore (Former WWE Womenâs Champion & Cruiserweight Champion; 20+ year vet of the sport) - Madison Eagles (Former SHIMMER Champion) - Mercedes Martinez (Seasoned vet of the independents) - Nattie Neidhart (Hart Dungeon Graduate & Daughter of Jim Neidhart) - Nikki Roxx (TAFKA Roxxi in TNA) - Portia Perez (Former SHIMMER Tag Champion) - RAIN (TAFKA Peyton Banks in TNA) - Tenille Tayla (Relative unknown from Australia; Trained by Lance Storm)
The segment concludes with Pearce stating the tournament will begin next week on NWAâs live events! If you want to check out the start of the action, be sure to check out the next episode of the national syndication show. âMay the best woman win!â, declares Pearce. Nattie, half-jokingly, lets him know that she will. [76%]
1. Keith Hansen has been handing Sami Calihan & Jon Moxley some Lâs on the recent house show loop so they look for some revenge here on TV in tag team action. Hansenâs partner, Cliff Compton, ends working well with the rough and tough brawler. Unfortunately, that doesnât stop him from eating a Spike Piledriver to give the Switchblade Conspiracy the win. Very basic, meat-and-potatoes match. [**ÂŒ]
- BC gets a pre-taped promo to strut his stuff, talking about heâs already feeling better after dropping that âdead weightâ last week. He promises to be the next big thing on the scene, blah blah blah. Youâve heard it all before. Delivery was solid tho. [55%]
- For the second week in a row, Jay Lethal has been called into Adam Pearceâs office. This time, heâs backed up by his fellow BLKOUT members. Heâs informed that his men will be defending their titles tonight! When Lethal calls Pearce out on his supposed stipulation last week and how Lethal winning should have negated any title defense, Pearce simply shrugs and says that heâs true to his word. They wonât be defending against Primo Colon & Richie Steamboat. Instead, they are going to defend their titles in a four-corners match against The Party, Stellar Ninja Force, and The Super Smash Brothers! Lethal has to be restrained by his men and forcibly removed from Pearceâs office, spitting all over the place as he yells at the top of his rage-filled lungs. Pearce, still cool as can be, informs Lethal that he almost forgot something. Since The Network enjoyed his match against Richie Steamboat last week, heâs got a match this week against another young up-and-comer. âBy the way, that match...is next. You might wanna start heading towards the ring.â [79%]
2. Jay Lethal is clearly unprepared for this match but his opponent, Johnny Gargano, is looking for a chance to shock the world and pull out a huge upset. He starts out with a Suicide Dive to the outside followed by a Spear from the apron. As Lethal rolls outside in a desperate attempt to regroup, Gargano bounces off the ropes for a repeat Suicide Dive. Unfortunately, he only eats Lethalâs boot courtesy of a Superkick! A seasoned vet, Jay Lethal methodically breaks down the challenger, targeting his knees in an effort to slow him down. To his credit, Gargano never stops coming after his opponent but the wear and tear of Lethalâs offense adds up, culminating in his knee giving out when he attempts the Hurts Donut. Smelling blood in the water, Lethal cartwheels off the ropes for a Killshot to send the young Gargano to the showers. [forgot to get star rating, lol]
- After being called out by Danny Havoc last week for not showing up, Randy Orton is here tonight to confront the drunkard in the ring. As expected, tensions are high as both men trade verbal barbs. Havoc outright admits that he was never going to like Orton. To Havoc, Orton is a walking symbol of privilege. While Havoc had to destroy his body just to keep the lights on and create a name for himself in wrestling, Orton came into the business with a âsilver spoonâ in his mouth. âI became a star because I worked my ass off. You became a star because some backstage dork with a pencil had a hard on from you.â The crowd is actually cheering Danny on as he tears into The Viper, culminating with him saying that he âwants Ortonâs assâ (pause) at our next iPPV on January 29th. Orton calls Havoc a ânobodyâ thatâs gonna earn the biggest pay day of his life when he gets put in his place in St. Louis. In other words, he accepts the challenge! [80%]
3. The odds are clearly stacked against THE BLKOUT as they defend their titles in a four-corners tag battle. They donât even have to be pinned for them to lose their titles to the Super Smash Brothers, The Party, or Stellar Ninja Force. As expected, this match is a complete spotfest with fun and terrifying moments. Ray Gordy, in particular, nearly dies when he gets Suplexed onto a pile of bodies on the outside by Trenton. With Lethal still resting up from his match earlier tonight, itâs Xavier Creed that ends up being the difference maker here as he slips Ruckus a pair of brass knuckles. The tag champ decks RV1 with his loaded fist and gets the win for his team. It took a third man but The BLKOUT is walking out of Nashville with the tag titles. [**Ÿ]
- The announce team is hyping up tonightâs main event when they suddenly get word that Teddy Hart has arrived to the building! Sure enough, the cameras cut to the recently re-instated Hart prodigy pulling up to the arena backstage. Dressed in street clothes and having Brian The Cat draped around his neck, Teddy is asked by a random backstage interview geek why heâs over an hour late to the show. The Canadian blows off the question, instead mentioning that heâs gonna settle the score with âJeffreyâ tonight after sitting at home for nearly a month. [64%]
4. In two consecutive weeks, Jimmy Rave and Low-Ki respectively went the distance with the TV champ, Robert Anthony. Tonight, Anthony has his toughest defense yet as he defends against both men in a three-way match. Very early on, the announcers explain that this match is not elimination and that fact dictates the flow of the match. Each time somebody would hit a move that could potentially win them the match, the third participant would play spoiler and break up the pin. As the match reached the finishing stretch, Ki took an awkward tumble to the outside, instantly clutching his ankle. Medical staff check on him while Rave and Ego continue to battle inside the ring. Ego hauls up the challenger for a TKO but Rave wisely grabs the ropes, refusing to let go until heâs able to slip out. Ghanarhea, Rave got him! He climbs on top of Ego for the pin but right before the refâs hand slaps the mat for a third time, Ki crashes down onto the pile with Warriorâs Way! His ankle sure seems fine as he covers Ego and wins the title! Ki must have been playing possum as he snatches the TV title out of the refâs hands before throwing it over his shoulder and heading to the back, not even attempting to the do the usual celebration when somebody wins a title. [***]
- Time for another edition of âThe Chuck Taylor Showâ w/ your host, Chuckie T. This weekâs guest is Drake Younger. Much as he does with previous guest Jimmy Rave, Taylor rubs the ultraviolent star the wrong way, nearly causing Younger to put hands on him. In fact, the only thing that stops Drake from doing so is Bad Bones who runs in and blasts the former CZW champion with a Big Boot! Younger confronted Bones and Mitchell last week and the sinister duo made sure to give him his receipt. [75%]
5. With a future NWA Worldâs title shot hanging in the balance, former teammates Austin Aries and Jeff Hardy do battle in a lengthy, competitive main event. Both men obviously have respect for each other after surviving War Games together, demonstrated by the brief handshake they share at the start of the bout. After that, they lock up and itâs officially on. Both men have clearly done their homework as Aries manages to avoid Jeffâs Whisper in the Wind, only to find himself in a vulnerable position when Jeff gets his knees up on a 450 Splash attempt. A Twist of Fate winds up being a very believable near-fall just as Teddy Hart wanders out to ringside. Heâs clearly trying to distract Jeff with various insults but both men are too focused on their intense battle. Angered at being ignored, Hart grabs a chair from ringside and directs Brain the Cat to cause a distraction. Sure enough, the refâs eyes are averted as Hart slides into the ring and tries to whack Jeff. Instead, he blasts Aries in the head as Jeff ducked it! Hart tries to correct his mistake but get dropkicked out of the ring. Taking off his tank top, Jeff pumps up the crowd before connecting with a Swanton Bomb! Thanks to some inadvertent help from his rival, Hardy will challenge Tyler Black for the NWA Worldâs title in St. Louis on January 29th. [***Âœ]

NWA TV on Syndication Quick Results January 11, 2012
- The NWA Womenâs Championship tournament began with some Block A action as Portia Perez beat Tenille Tayla in a short, somewhat sloppy match. - Adam Pearce gives a brief, pre-taped announcement that heâs been paying close attention to the NWA roster and has selected two performers to compete in a best of five series. According to Pearce, their matches are guaranteed to be great TV which will make the network happy. The participants are Johnny Gargano & Jerry Lynn. Their first match will air on NWA Syndication next week. - Block B was up next as Ivelisse Velez put in a good showing despite her relative inexperience but still fell victim to an Air Raid Crash from Cheerleader Melissa to earn the vet 2 points. - After making sure her makeup is on point in a mirror, RAIN cuts a promo backstage promising to win her match tonight. - Brian Cage is using his old name again as he squashes Cliff Compton, finishing the greaser off with a Steiner Screwdriver. - The Switchblade Conspiracy & Stellar Ninja Force get in an argument over why SNJ got a tag title shot last Saturday. It doesnât come to blows but it could lead to a match later on. - Rocky Romero, whoâs been MIA from NWA TV since Starrcade, appears in a pre-taped video. He claims to have been in Japan filming a movie over the past few weeks but says heâll be back in the States soon. - Madison Eagles, the wife of Ryan Eagles, defeats RAIN in their tournament match thanks to a fireball that she spits in her opponentâs face while the ref is distracted. - Derrick Bateman hypes up his match with Ryan Eagles on VH1 this week. - In the nightâs main event, Gail Kim manages to outlast Nikki Roxx in a lengthy battle to earn herself two points. - A video airs showing what happened on last weekâs VH1 episode, just in case you missed it
NWA Wrestling [69%] Episode #24 1/14/12 TAPED in Nashville, Tennessee Announcers: Steve Prazak & Tommy Dreamer 1. This weekâs show kicks off with some NWA Womenâs tournament action as the future hall of famer Jacqueline Moore takes on April Lee in Block B action. Moore has an obvious size and experience edge over her opponent but April doesnât back down, doing her best to keep pace with the vet until sheâs able to trap her in a La Magistral cradle for three! Moore tries to run after her opponent but AJ high-tails it out of the ring, pulling off what has to be considered a minor upset. [ÂŒ*]
- The announcers can barely digest the match just happened before we have to cut backstage due to something âmajorâ happening. That major thing happens to be Austin Aries laying into Teddy Hart with punches! Hart is desperately trying to escape as Aries repeatedly screams at the arrogant Canadian for costing him a world title shot last week. Finally, backstage geeks break up the fight, allowing the announces to finally send us to commercial. [75%]
2. It only takes Bad Bones about five moves to decimate Jey Fatu. Yeah, heâs still on the roster. The real story is after the match as Drake Younger comes running out to brawl with the German. Although he initially has the upperhand, he may regret coming out as the tide soon turns, culminating in Bones putting Younger through a table at ringside! Mitchell cackles as his monster has once again shown his frightening power. [Not worth rating; more of an angle than an actual match]
- NWA Worldâs Heavyweight Champion Tyler Black is this weekâs guest on The Chuck Taylor Show. As usual, Taylor gets into it with his guest due to his shit-starting tendencies. The world champ eventually has enough and challenges the host to a non-title match so he can personally shut Chuckie T up. [75%]
3. After weeks of being at odds with each other, Ryan Eagles finally gets his hands on Derrick Bateman in a singles match. The pyromaniac takes most of the match, clearly keeping Bateman on his toes with his chaotic offense. As it turns out, however, the former NXT star is simply waiting for an opening. When that opening comes, he takes full advantage of it, causing Eagles to get nutted on the top rope before drilling him with a Uranage to secure the win. [**]
- Backstage in his office, Adam Pearce makes a match for the Winter Classic on January 29th. Apparently, he wasnât impressed by the way The BLKOUT retained their titles last week. As such, heâs scheduled a match for the 29th between The BLKOUT and The Super Smash Brothers. Not only will the titles be on the line but if Xavier Creed or Jay Lethal interfere in the bout, The BLKOUT will be stripped of the titles and theyâll all be suspended. [74%]
4. In a âMystery Opponentâ bout set up by Adam Pearce, Jay Lethal must have been expecting another rookie to come out to the ring. Instead, heâs greeted by Keith Hansen. The big man is always looking for a fight and he lays into Lethal early on with some hard body blows. âThe Cornerstoneâ gets in some offense after connecting with an Axe Handle off the top but soon winds up on his back after getting rocked in the jaw by Hansenâs right hand. Rolling out of the ring, the BLKOUT leader has had enough for tonight and is heading to the back! Hansen begrudgingly accepts the count-out win but clearly wanted to keep fighting. [**Âœ]
- Low-Ki doesnât have much to say in his first promo since winning the TV title but he makes it clear that he attributes his recent success to his change in attitude and the ârevisionsâ heâs made to the Warrior Code. He tells viewers to get used to his face because heâs gonna be TV champ for a long, long time. [71%]
5. In the final Block A match for this week, Nattie Neidhart is the clear favorite going into her match with independent mainstay Mercedes Martinez due to her family legacy and all. Martinez may not have the name value but she certainly has the ability as she goes hold for hold with the accomplished Hart Dungeon graduate. Nattie has some strong moments but canât find a way to finish her opponent before the 15 minute time limit expires. The battle hardened Martinez offers a handshake to her opponent but Nattie blows her off, clearly frustrated with herself. [*Âœ]
- Jeff Hardy cuts a pre-taped promo hyping up his world title match on the 29th. Typical ârah-rahâ stuff, not much to see here. [70%]
6. In a match made earlier tonight, Tyler Black defeats Chuck Taylor in a non-title match. Taylor gets in a solid amount of offense but thereâs a reason why Black is the champ. He shows why here by stunning Taylor with a Buckle Bomb before connecting with Godâs Last Gift. Pretty so-so TV main event, tbh. This shit was a bit of a filler episode if you couldn't tell. [**]

NWA Wrestling [71%] Episode #25 1/21/12 TAPED in Charlotte, North Carolina Announcers: Steve Prazak & Tommy Dreamer
- We get a cold open this week as we see Austin Aries attempting to enter the building only to be confronted by Adam Pearce and a wall of security. Due to the way he disruspted last week's broadcast by assaulting Teddy Hart, Pearce informs Aries that heâs been ordered by âthe networkâ to take the night off, If he resists, NWA security will be more than happy to escort him out. A few tense moments follow before Aries begrudgingly agrees to leave without a fight. On his way out, he bumps awkwardly bumps shoulders with Randy Orton. The two stare each other down for a moment before going their separate ways, potentially teasing a future match. [87%]1. Block A womenâs tournament action starts out the nightâs show as Portia Perez and Madison Eagles grapple for the top spot in their block. Portia showcases her agility, avoiding several of Eaglesâ strikes before catching her with a Diving Double Knee drop for a nearfall. Unfortunately for the feisty Canadian, Eagles eventually catches her and puts out her lights with a Bicycle Kick. After her victory, Ryan Eagles enters the ring to celebrate with his wife. [*Âœ]
- Backstage, Jay Lethal is reading the riot act to Xavier Creed. Mentioning that neither man can interfere in the tag title match on the 29th, Lethal questions what purpose Creed really serves to the group. After all, he was the one that cried âuncleâ at Starrcade and cost them War Games. Creed frantically pleads his case but Lethal ainât trying to hear it. He tells Creed that he got a match scheduled for the 29th between Creed and Keith Hansen. In no uncertain terms, Lethal tells Creed to defeat Hansen or heâs out of The BLKOUT. [74%]- Drake Younger cuts a pre-taped promo hyping up his Tables match with Bad Bones at Winter Classic. Not much to see here, Younger said he was going to beat Bonesâ ass and all that good stuff. [67%]2. As a preview for their upcoming tag title match, Player Uno is in rare singles action as he takes on Blk Jeez. Both menâs partners second them at ringside but surprisingly, neither are involved in the finish. Instead, Jeez is able to boot Uno in the gut before planting him with a Double Arm DDT for the three count. Solid match here as Uno carried his own weight despite his rustiness as a singles wrestler. [**Âœ]- After a commercial, we go to Adam Pearceâs office as the Commish is approached by Peter LaSalle. After pleasantries are exchanged, LaSalle asks why he was taken off commentary. Once again referring to âthe networkâ, Pearce says that certain higher-ups werenât exactlyâŠpleased with his performance at the announce table. Despite that, they do see some value in LaSalle as an on-screen performer. As such, they suggested that he become a manager. Just to make things easier, Pearce has already had a managerâs license whipped up for the former announcer. Still not taking the hint that he was pure cheeks as an announcer, LaSalle is still thankful for this opportunity and promises to make the most of it. [63%] 3. Jacqueline Moore took an L last week but sheâs looking to rebound tonight with a win over Gail Kim. This battle of former WWE/F Womenâs champions gets a strong reaction from the crowd as they are with the match the whole way, rallying behind Kim. Their support pays off when Kim ducks under a Clothesline and connects with Eat Defeat in a flash! Just like that, sheâs tied for the lead in Block B. [*] 4. In his first match back since his suspension, Teddy Hart looks impressive as he pins Primo Colon following Open Hart Surgery. Primo doesnât get a lot of TV time but he always makes the most of his minutes, looking crisp with every movement. That being said, Hart is the clear focus here and winds up taking most of the match. [**Âœ]- Robert Anthony cuts a promo letting fans know that heâll be getting his rematch for the TV title on the 29th. Ego doesnât know if Ki will still be champion by then but he certainly hopes so as he âowes him a receiptâ for taking his title. [73%]5. Speaking of the TV title, itâs defended in tonightâs main event as Keith Hansen challenges the champion Low-Ki. As expected, this winds up being a stiff, physical battle. Hansen manages to gain an edge at one point by using his size but that all goes out the window when a kick from Ki lands square on the button and has TAFKA Festus on Dream Street. Slipping behind his larger opponent, Ki slaps on a Grapevined Dragon Sleeper, almost immediately forcing Hansen to the mat and drawing the submission. [***]- Once again, Tyler Black is a guest on âThe Chuck Taylor Showâ to close out tonightâs show. This time, however, heâs joined by his opponent on the 29th, Jeff Hardy. Right off the bat, Taylor attempts to instigate by calling out the way Jeff âearnedâ this title shot. âI mean, come on, Another guy had to run in and use a chair for you to win. Do you really think you deserve this match?â For what itâs worth, Hardy acknowledges that he didnât earn this show in the cleanest way possible but he mentions that his past accomplishments should more than justify him getting a world title shot. In addition, heâs getting up there in age and doesnât know how far away his last match is. As such, he needs to take advantage of every opportunity he can to become a world champion while he can still compete at this level. When asked for a rebuttal, the champ acknowledges that Jeff is a legend but heâs also a symbol of the outdated past while Tyler represents the present. The segment closes out with both men face to face, neither one willing to back down prior to their title match. [75%]

NWA TV on Syndication 1/25/12 Quick Results- Brian Cage had a good match with Zach Sabre Jr, culminating in the SoCal native hitting the Steiner Screwdriver for the win. - Gail Kim solidifies her spot at the top of Block B with a win over Ivelisse Velez. - Mercedes Martinez cuts a pre-taped promo talking about how sheâs been waiting for this opportunity for years. After being patient and grinding on the independent scene for so long, sheâs not gonna let the chance to become NWA Womenâs Champion slip through her fingers. - Nikki Roxx picks up her first win of the tournament, pinning Jacqueline Moore after a Spear. - Jerry Lynn is a guest on The Chuck Taylor Show. Taylor basically calls Lynn old and washed up resulting in the vet walking off before finishing the segment. - In a non-title match, The BLKOUT defeat Primo Colon & Richie Steamboat following the Death Sentence on Richie. - Hype video for this weekâs VH1 show. Both Tyler Black and Jeff Hardy will select somebody on the roster to face their opponent on TV, 1 day before their world title encounter. Itâs âPick Your Poisonâ, yâall. - Portia Perez fought hard to keep her tournament hopes alive but is forced to submit to the Sharpshooter from Nattie Neidhart. Nattie now jumps to the front of Block A with 5 points. - Derrick Bateman is in the ring flexing for the hoes when heâs interrupted by Austin Aries. The two go back-and-forth with wise cracks before agreeing to a match right now! - Austin Aries defeats Derrick Bateman in the subsequent match, putting down the former NXT star with a Brainbuster.
NWA Wrestling [69%] Episode #26 TAPED in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Announcers; Steve Prazak & Tommy Dreamer 1/28/12 - Weâre only one day away from our next iPPV, Winter Classic, and we get another match added to the card in tonightâs opening segment. According to an announcement from Commissioner Adam Pearce, Jay Lethal will take on Jimmy Rave in what should be one of the stronger matches of the night. The show will also feature a womenâs tournament match as Madison Eagles takes on Mercedes Martinez in Block A action. Now that we got the formal stuff out of the way, on with the show! [68%]
1. RAIN earns her first win of the tournament, laying out Tenille Tayla with the Samoan Drop she calls Acid Rain. Bad match but not long enough to be offensive or anything. [N/A]
- April Lee cuts a promo hyping up her match with Cheerleader Melissa later tonight. She plans on handing the vet their first loss. [66%]
- Keith Hansen is chatting it up with some production geeks backstage when he gets attacked from behind by Xavier Creed! Armed with a lead pipe, Creed targets the brawlerâs right hand, striking it several times before fleeing the scene. Backstage geeks are calling for help as Hansen holds his hand in agony. [63%]
2. Itâs trios action up next as Drake Younger and Stellar Ninja Force unite to take on their common enemies, the Switchblade Conspiracy and Bad Bones. The babyfaces get some shine earlier on with a dive triplet but itâs the heels that have the last laugh when Bones nearly sends RV1âs head into the bleachers. Following the match, Bones makes sure to stare down his opponent tomorrow as Mitchell lets Drake know that Bones is going to break him. [**1/2]
- Randy Orton was scheduled to be this weekâs guest on "The Chuck Taylor Show" but he never even makes it to the ring as he gets jumped on the ramp by Danny Havoc who disguised himself as a fan! Havoc lays into Orton, drawing blood before exiting through the crowd. Orton is able to get back to his feet but is clearly in a sour mood as heâs escorted to the back to receive medical attention. Before we cut to commercial, we see Chuck Taylor calling his agent and asking if heâll still get paid for this show even if it didnât happen. [70%]
3. Cheerleader Melissa has dominated Block B competition so far but April Lee is looking to put a stop to that in their tournament match. Leeâs relative inexperience really shows in this one as this is the longest sheâs been asked to wrestle since debuting. Melissa does her best to keep the match from falling apart but she can only do so much. Mercifully, the end comes when Melissa goes for the Kudo Driver only for Lee to roll her up, securing the three! Lee picks up another upset as Melissa takes her first L. [*]
- Back from break, itâs time for Jeff Hardyâs match against an opponent selected by Tyler Black. That opponent turns out to be the eccentric Teddy Hart. The champion clearly wants to benefit from the beef that these two men have in an attempt to give Jeff some extra bumps and bruises heading into their title match. Before both men can lock up, however, they are interrupted by Austin Aries. Despite having a week to sit at home and reflect, he still wants to kick Hartâs ass! Even though he has a match scheduled with Hart for tomorrow, he wants to get his hands on the Hart prodigy TONIGHT! As such, he asks the ref to make this a three-way match. Hart objects to this idea but after being pressured by Aries, Jeff, and the fans, the ref makes it official and rings the bell! [77%]
4. As expected with three talented performers, the three-way match between Austin Aries, Jeff Hardy, and Teddy Hart is a fun spectacle. Aries clearly focuses his offense towards Hart but he also gets in his shots on Jeff, clearly not over the fact that Hardy is getting the world title shot and not him. Despite his involvement, A-Double doesnât factor into the finish as Jeff lays out Hart with the Twist of Fate before finishing him off with the Swanton. [**Ÿ]
- Madison Eagles cuts a pre-taped promo hyping up her tournament match with Mercedes Martinez tomorrow. [61%]
5. Itâs Tyler Blackâs turn to face an opponent of Jeff Hardyâs choosing. To the surprise of many, Hardyâs pick turns out to be Rocky Romero whoâs been off TV for the past few weeks due to filming a movie in Japan. Armando Alejandro Estrada knows what a huge statement it would be for his client to defeat the world champ (even if itâs non-title) and is cheering âAzĂșcarâ on as he gets a nearfall from a Tiger Suplex. The resilient champion manages to rebound, connecting with a Superplex off the top rope before somehow managing to muscle his opponent up for a Falcon Arrow! The crowd pops big for the spot but Romero still gets the shoulder up. He struggles to get back to his feet only to walk into a Superkick. Buckle Bomb! Fade to Black! The champion gets the hard-fought win. Excellent TV main event. [****]

Winter Classic [78%] January 29th, 2012 LIVE from St. Louis, Missouri Attendance: 3,068 Announcers: Steve Prazak & Tommy Dreamer
0. Before the actual broadcast is underway, the chunk of the crowd that decided to get to the building a little early are treated to a match between Xavier Creed and Keith Hansen. Building off the angle last night, Hansenâs right hand is all taped up here and practically unusable. Unsurprisingly, Creed focuses his attacks on that injured hand. Despite having only one functioning fist, Hansen still gains the upper-hand against Creed at various points, stopping a Crossbody attempt with a Big Boot. He eventually manages to connect with a Lariat but Creed manages to get his foot on the ropes. The Outlaw goes for a Chokeslam but Xavier manages to drop him with a punch. Itâs those damn brass knuckles that he keeps in his trunks! The Unprettier quickly follows and earns Creed the win. Solid dark match. [**]
Match #1 NWA Womenâs Championship Tournament Block A âThe Awesome Aussieâ Madison Eagles (4) vs. âLatina Sensationâ Mercedes Martinez (3)
For the first time, women compete on an NWA iPPV as Madison Eagles looks to regain her spot at the top of Block A by defeating the tough Mercedes Martinez. Both women shake hands before the bell rings but it doesnât take long for the intensity to kick up when the match gets going. Eagles is the more technically sound of the two but Martinez clearly has more power in her strikes, causing the Aussie to visibly wince whenever she has to absorb a shot. Eagles soon finds herself gasping for air as Martinez rams her knee into the challengerâs ribs several times. Martinez isnât done as she hauls Eagles up for the Fisherman Buster! She got all of that one and itâs enough for three. What a statement Martinez has made by defeating fan favorite Eagles in decisive fashion! [**Âœ]
Match #2 Tables Match Bad Bones (w/ Father James Mitchell) vs. âThe Naptown Dragonâ Drake Younger
Last month at Starrcade, Bad Bones defeated Bob Backlund. On the following episode of TV, he was confronted by Younger for his ho-ish behavior. Since then, the two have been beefing with Bones laying out the Naptown Dragon multiple times. Younger starts off the match hot, laying into Bones with punches before sending him down to the mat with a Dropkick. Youngerâs momentum doesnât last, however, as heâs soon shut down by a vicious Shoulder Tackle from the German heel. Utilizing his power and sadistic tendencies, Bones puts a beating on his opponent, allowing Younger to get back to his feet multiple times before going back on the attack. Finally, James Mitchellâs bloodlust appears to be satisfied as he gives his client a signal from ringside to stop playing with his prey and end the match. Sure enough, Bones sets up a table in the ring and drags Younger to the middle turnbuckle. He goozles the former CZW champion for a Chokeslam but Drake gets off a kick below the belt! Itâs all legal here as Bones is clearly hurt. Knowing this is his chance, Younger muscles Bones onto his shoulders. Death Valley Driver through the table! Somehow, The Naptown Dragon is walking away with a win. Bones is clearly in a bad mood after the match as heâs scolded by his manager for not being able to finish the job. [**Ÿ]
Match #3 NWA World Tag Team Championship Super Smash Brothers vs. The BLKOUT ©
With fellow BLKOUT members Jay Lethal and Xavier Creed banned from ringside, this St. Louis crowd truly believes this is the night that the Super Smash Brothers will walk out with the titles after chasing them for nearly two months. The Smash Brothers themselves clearly believe that as they carry themselves with a confidence that just wasnât there in their earlier title matches. We get a long match here that can broken down into two separate parts. The first half features all of the conventional tropes of tag wrestling (complete with Jeez & Ruckus cutting the ring in half to work over Dos).
The second half is just both teams going back and forth with big moves, pulling out every move in their playbook to try and secure a win. As the ref tries to enforce the rules and send Dos to his teamâs corner, the legal man Uno turns around into a belt shot to the head from Jeez! Ruckus runs traffic and knocks Dos off the apron as his partner makes the pin. 1-2-UNO KICKS OUT!
Jeez, in disbelief that Uno got his shoulder up before three, pleads his case with the ref but the official stands by his call. The action continues for a few more minutes before Ruckus attemps a Hurricarana on Uno. Somehow, the masked wrestler maneuvers him into a Gory Special prompting Dos to fly in with a Diamond Dust! In another universe, a WWE announcer is shouting, âthey call that the Fatality!â With Uno taking out Jeez, a now legal Dos heads to the top rope for the finishing touches. Frog Splash! Dos hooks the leg and hears the three count that everybody had been waiting on. Unsurprisingly, the building erupts when it happens. Itâs an emotional scene after the match as the SSB hug while holding their new gold, knowing that this is the culmination of six long years of hard work. [**Ÿ]
Match #4 Grudge Match âThe Viperâ Randy Orton vs. âThe Deathmatch Drunkardâ Danny Havoc
Ever since Randy Orton showed up in the NWA, heâs drawn the ire of Danny Havoc. A deathmatch veteran that cut his teeth in rings filled with glass and barbwire, Havoc sees Orton as an example of every privilege that he (and countless wrestlers like him) never had. The crod is hot for this one, cheering their hometown boy on as he trades punches with Havoc in a gritty brawl. Despite technically being a babyface in this program, Havoc works as a heel here, knowing fully well that heâs in enemy territory tonight. He even flips off the crowd before slapping on an STF, a move that has forced Orton to submit several times over the past several years. It doesnât get the best of him on this night, however, as he elbows his way back to a standing base. Havoc goes off the ropes for a Yakuza Kick but Orton sidesteps it. The drunkard turns around into an RKO! Just like that, itâs all over. [**Âœ]
Match #5 âThe Hart of the NWAâ Teddy Hart vs. âThe Greatest Man That Ever Livedâ Austin Aries
On the first episode of NWA TV this year, Austin Aries had a chance to earn a world title match. That chance was taken away by Teddy Hart as his botched interference allowed Hardy to secure the win. Now, Aries wants a piece of Hartâs ass. Pause. With two of the more athletic men on the roster, this match has no shortage of spectacular looking moves. In addition, their clashing personalities results in lots of trash talk throughout the bout. That banter actually leads to the finish as the intensity of the match reaches a peak. After the ref has to admonish Aries for not breaking a hold soon enough, Hart unleashes a verbal tirade thatâs apparently so vulgar it has to be censored here on iPPV. Just to drive the disrespect home, the Candian spits on his opponent. Aries, taking a moment to process what just happened, flies off the handle and delivers a kick straight to the balls. Of course, the ref instantly calls for the bell and rules the match a DQ victory for Hart but Aries doesnât seem to care all that much as he gets the last laugh by delivering a Brainbuster. [***]
Match #6 âThe Cornerstoneâ Jay Lethal vs. âFine Like Wineâ Jimmy Rave
So, Iâll be honest. This match was thrown together at the last minute as a way to get both guys on the card. That doesnât stop the competitors from working their asses off and putting on a really good match. The BLKOUT leader looks to be in a particuarly foul mood tonight following his men losing the tag titles earlier tonight. The action is evenly contested as Rave repeatedly goes for the Heel Hook but each time, Lethal finds a way to counter. The ring savvy Lethal makes a rare mistake when he leaves himself vulnerable to a Rave (Styles) Clash (which gets a nice pop from the crowd). The move, while not enough to keep Lethal down for the pin, stuns the BLKOUT leader and prompts Jimmy to go for his signature submission again. âThe Cornerstoneâ manages to reach up and secure a small package pin but Rave quickly turns the pile over and the ref counts to three! [***Âœ] Match #7
NWA Television Championship Robert âEgoâ Anthony vs. âThe World Warriorâ Low-Ki ©
Weâve already had one title change hands tonight and Robert Anthony would love to make it two as he attempts to regain the TV championship. Of course, Low-Ki doesnât intend to give up the title so easily after sacrificing his code of honor for it. Against his better judgement, Ego allows himself to be dragged into a striking battle with Low-Ki. He quickly pays for this decision as heâs rocked by The World Warriorâs kicks and is put on the backfoot. Ego tries to gain some momentum with a dive to the outside but unlike so many times before, his attempt here fails as the champ has the move scouted and allows his challenger to crash onto the black mats. Ki apparently came into this match with a gameplan to keep Ego grounded and he executes the plan to a T by grinding away at his challenger with various forms of joint manipulation. Anthony damn near resembles a pretzel at certain points but he refuses to give up, continually firing off punches whenever he can.
The challenger goes for another dive to the outside which is again avoided by Ki. This time, however, the dive turns out to be a ruse as Ego simply flips onto the apron, changes direction, and hits the mark with a Diving Elbow strike to Kiâs jaw! For the first time this night, Ego gets in sustained offense as he connects with a Springboard DDT and a Blue Thunder Bomb for nearfalls. Just when it seems like things are going the challengerâs way, his momentum is stopped dead by a Koppu Kick. The lights may be on but nobodyâs home for Ego as he crumples to the mat. Some may argue that the Ki Krusher the champion hits afterward is for insurance but the Warriorâs Way off the top rope that ultimately seals the win is just excessive punishment. The TV champion has looked damn near unstoppable in recent weeks and his dominance continued tonight. [****]
Match #8 NWA Worldâs Heavyweight Championship âThe Charismatic Enigmaâ Jeff Hardy vs. âGodâs Last Giftâ Tyler Black ©
Itâs main event time! In what has been hailed as a âdream matchâ by some, Jeff Hardy and Tyler Black will step into the ring against each other for the first time. By itself, that would be a big deal but the stakes are even higher with the greatest prize in the industry on the line. Both men are fan-favorites but the champion plays the de-facto heel here, working over Hardy early on and forcing him to fight from underneath. Black is the younger (and faster) man but Hardy takes advantage of his reckless style to leave the champion reeling at several points. The biggest example of that occurs when Hardy dives to the outside, connecting with a Swanton Bomb to Black! Unlike the ring, there is no absolutely no give on that floor. Black heaves like his stomach is about to come out of his ass but still finds the strength to kick out of Jeffâs pinfall attempt in the ring. A second Swanton attempt doesnât yield the same results as Black gets his knees up to protect himself. A Superkick from Tyler comes next before he hooks Jeff up for Fade to Black! 1-2-NO! The Charismatic Enigma gets the shoulder up. Having exhausted one finisher, Black pulls out his ace as he heads to the top for a Phoenix Splash. Jeff rolls out of the way to safety but the nimble champ is able to land on his feet. Hardy boots Black in the gut. Twist of Fa-NO! Black escapes out of it and muscles the challenger up. Buckle Bomb! Fade to Black! 1-2-3! âGodâs Last Giftâ retains his title in a hell of a main event. [***Ÿ]

NWA Wrestling [74%] 2/4/12 TAPED in Louisville, Kentucky Announcers: Steve Prazak & Tommy Dreamer 1. Portia Perez has been mathematically eliminated from her block due to her previous losses to Nattie Neidhart & Madison Eagles. Despite this, she gives her all against Mercedes Martinez, knowing that any win on TV would be big for her young NWA career. Perez gets her spots in as she wows the crowd with a Code Red but it isnât enough as Martinez is able to weather the storm and bounce back with her own offense. The Fisherman Buster seals the win for Martinez who seems to be red-hot right now. [**]- After commercial, The Super Smash Brothers are out to celebrate their title win. Player Dosâ right arm is in a sling as he was injured at a recent house show in a non-title match against The Party. Giving the fans plenty of time to chant their names, the new champs give a typical ârah-rahâ promo before being interrupted by NWA Commissioner Adam Pearce. After congratulating the team on their recent success, he mentions that the burden of a champion is having to defend the title even when youâre not 100% healthy. As such, he was letting the champs know that their first title defense would be next week against Stellar Ninja Force. âOf course, if either of you feel that you are unable to defend your titles due to Dosâ injury, you can always vacate the titles.â Obviously, the SSB arenât gonna just give up the titles so Player Uno agrees to the defense, even going as far as to say that heâll defend the titles by himself if he has to. [76%]2. Teddy Hart, coming off a victory on Sunday thanks to a low blow from Austin Aries, has another tough match-up ahead of him as he takes on Ryan Eagles. Very clunky match here as they both seem to be wrestling two completely different matches and canât get on the same page as a result. Much like Hartâs last match, this one ends in a DQ thanks to a large man hitting the ring and attacking Eagles. âThatâs DH Smith!â, Prazak quickly informs us. Smithâs intentions are quickly made clear as he bodies Eagles with a Running Powerslam before posing with his cousin Teddy. This will count as a loss for Hart but unlike Sunday, heâs the one standing tall at the end. [*]- Armando Alejandro Estrada is backstage with his men, KENTA & Rocky Romero. Estrada encourages his clients to work together tonight as a win over the world champ would be big for both of them. Unfortunately, Romero seems more concerned with his own personal glory, telling the Japanese import that he needs to follow Rockyâs lead. All the while, KENTA remains stoic, refusing to participate in a promo-closing fist bump with "AzĂșcar.â Instead, the NOAH star tells Romero to âstay out of my wayâ before exiting the room. [72%] 3. In Block B action, Cheerleader Melissa has a chance to take the lead if she can knock off Gail Kim. Solid, lengthy match with both women going back and forth with their offense. Eat Defeat nearly earns Gail the win but Melissa manages to get her foot on the ropes. Trying to find a way to finish this one off, Kim heads to the top rope but crashes and burns on a Missile Dropkick attempt. Melissa stacks up Kim into a pinning position using the ropes for leverage but somehow, the former Knockouts champion kicks out. Gail gets to her feet right into a Kudo Driver! Thatâs enough for three. [*Âœ]
- Backstage, Chuck Taylor (literally) bumps into Austin Aries. The two have a brief exchange before Taylor walks off. Or, he tries to before Aries snatches his arm and draws him back in. âI think you have something that belongs to me.â Taylor plays dumb but A-Double is insistent. Finally, the Kentucky Gentleman relents and hands Aries back his wallet. âYou dropped it, I was just keeping it safe for ya!â Aries doesnât buy it but must be in a somewhat good mood as he lets Taylor off with a warning. [72%] 4. In Match #2 of their Best-of-Five Series, Johnny Gargano defeats Jerry Lynn with the Garga-No-Escape. Great match that has the crowd rocking by the end. Lynn pulls lots of moves in his playbook but still found himself trapped in the submission. After the bout, Gargano offers Lynn a handshake but unlike their first match, Lynn shakes his head and walks off instead of accepting the show of respect. [***Ÿ]
- Jimmy Rave & Low-Ki talk shit to each other backstage in order to hype up their TV title match next week. Not much to see here. Rave wants the title, Ki ainât gonna give it up that easy, you know the drill by now. [74%]5. In his first TV match since signing with the NWA, Randy Orton has some trouble against Keith Hansen. The Outlaw utilizes his size and power to control the pace of the match but Orton turns the tide in an instant after blasting Hansen with a boot to the head as heâs trying to get in the ring. The Rope Hung DDT follows and the way Orton slithers on the mat while pounding his fists lets everybody knows that the end is near. RKO! Stick a fork in this one. [N/A, missed most of the match due to an argument with my cable company on the phone.] 6. Even though they were opponents six days ago, Tyler Black and Jeff Hardy form one hell of a team as they do battle with KENTA & Rocky Romero in tonightâs main event. Each man is talented in their own right but the significant difference is that one team is able to act as a cohesive unit while the other team canât stop getting in their own way. KENTA & Romero constantly bicker during the bout, refusing to take advice or suggestions from their teammate. The tension between the heels boils over when KENTA âaccidentallyâ blasts Romero with a Roundhouse Kick. The Japanese import doesnât even seem concerned when his partner eats a Twist of Fate followed by a Phoenix Splash before getting pinned. [***Ÿ]
- After the bout, Jeff Hardy and Tyler Black are celebrating in the ring when the lights go out. A few seconds pass before the lights come back where we see The BLKOUT in the ring beating the hell out of the babyfaces! The Charismatic Enigma ends up getting laid out with the Death Sentence while the world champ eats a Killshot before getting blasted in the skull with his own title. âYou suck!â chants are rampant as the show comes to a close with Jay Lethal taking the NWA World title and throwing it over his shoulder before escaping through the crowd. Great episode! Looking forward to Lethal vs. Black and KENTA vs. Romero. Hart and Smith back together should give the tag division a nice boost. And the women's round robin has kept things interesting. So glad this has returned!

NWA TV on Syndication Quick Results 2/8/12
- Cheerleader Melissa locks up the #1 seed in Block B with a win over Jacqueline Moore.
- Stellar Ninja Force cut a pre-taped promo addressing their tag title match on Saturday. They acknowledge what a huge opportunity this is but with the circumstances surrounding Dosâ health and the match effectively being a handicap match, they canât bring themselves to accept the match as thereâs no way for the win to be fair. As such, they are pulling themselves out of the title match.
- DH Smith pins Akira Tozawa after a Running Powerslam.
- Peter LaSalle approaches Zach Sabre Jr. backstage and offers his services as a manager. Sabre Jr. says heâll think about it.
- In the biggest shock of the womenâs tournament, the rookie Tenille Tayla defeats Mercedes Martinez with a roll-up after interference from Nattie Neidhart who was doing guest commentary at ringside,
- Nikki Roxx cuts a promo hyping up how sheâs on a two match win streak and looks to extend it to three tonight.
- Ivelisse Velez forces Nikki Roxx to submit with a Gogoplata.
- BC is looking at his own reflection in a mirror backstage when he encounters Keith Hansen. The two get uppity with each other, setting up a future match on the house show circuit and maybe TV if it isnât ass.
- Portia Perez defeats RAIN with an Inverted Double Underhook Facebuster she calls âKosher Pickle.â
- We get a hype video recapping the closing moments of last weekâs VH1 show where The BLKOUT brutally assaulted Jeff Hardy & Tyler Black and stole the world title.
- In Match #3 of their Best-of-Five series, Jerry Lynn takes advantage of a ref bump to whack Gargano with the ring bell and secure the pin. Yeah, itâs a heel turn on the B-Show. What of it?
NWA Wrestling [77%] Episode #28 2/11/18 TAPED in Louisville, Kentucky Announcers: Steve Prazak & Peter LaSalle
- The crowd is brought to their feet by the music of NWA World Heavyweight Champion (despite not having the actual belt) Tyler Black to start out this weekâs show. Snatching a mic out of a ringside geekâs hand, Black tells the BLKOUT to come out right now and face him like a man. âIf you boys wanted a fight, all ya had to do was ask!â Whether he has to face them in the ring or hunt them down in the back, Black doesnât plan on leaving Louisville without taking out the BLKOUT and regaining his title. Here comes Adam Pearce to try and calm down his champion but Black ainât having it. Suddenly, the lights go out and static appears on the titantron before a video playsâŠ[73%]
- âTHE FOLLOWING MESSAGE HAS BEEN PAID FOR AND SPONSORED BY THE BLKOUTâ comes across the screen in black and white text before cutting to a dimly lit room somewhere in the arena. In it, The BLKOUT stand united. Standing in the middle with Blackâs world title strewn over his shoulder, Jay Lethal speaks for the group. He says that for the past several weeks, Adam Pearce and his oppressive regime has made life miserable for him and his men. âOne can only stay silent in the face of oppression for so long before fighting back. Last week, the BLKOUT finally fought back.â The group is holding the world title hostage and promises to only return the title if Lethal is awarded a world title match at this monthâs PPV, Rise Above. If their demands are refused, they will destroy the championship that this industry holds in such high regard. âYou have seven days to give us a response. Tick tock, gentlemen.â When the lights come back on, Tyler Black looks to be furious and runs to the back to search wherever the hell the BLKOUT recorded that video. Commissioner Pearce runs after him, stressing to Black that âthe NWA does not negotiate with terroristsâ before the chaos is finally interrupted by a commercial break. [77%]
1. With a spot in the semi-finals on the line, April Lee composes herself before locking up with a woman that inspired her to get into the business, Gail Kim. The crowd heat winds up being a bit lacking for this one since it was babyface vs. babyface but the action is enjoyable as Lee produces counters to several of Kimâs signature holds. She nearly draws the submission with an Octopus Hold but her veteran opponent is able to get her feet on the ropes. Lee tries to stay on the offensive but her aggression leaves her open to an Eat Defeat that secures Kim the win. The two shake hands after the bout as AJ wishes Kim luck in the finals. [Ÿ*]
- Pre-taped promo w/ Father James Mitchell & Bad Bones hyping up Bonesâ match with Drake Younger next week. Mitchell reveals that next weekâs match will be a First Blood match and that Bones will redeem his past failures by painting the town red with Youngerâs blood. [85%]
2. We knew going into tonight that Player Uno would have to defend his teamâs tag titles. What we didnât know until now was who he would be facing as his original opponents, Stellar Ninja Force, dropped out of the match due to the âunfair circumstances.â Commissioner Adam Pearce personally introduces their replacements as âa team that has greatly impressed me.â That team turns out to be The Switchblade Conspiracy. What follows is a rather tragic tale. Player Uno puts up the fight of his life as his injured teammate cheers him on from ringside. The fans are behind him the entire way but it doesnât change the fact that one man is not going to beat a team as deadly as Sami Calihan & Jon Moxley by himself. After Uno gets dropped on his head several times, the end mercifully comes after a Spike Piledriver. Fair or not, we have new champions in Louisville! [**Âœ]
- Backstage, Jey Fatu (who has been turned into an interviewer because what the f*** else am I gonna do with him) tries to interview Jeff Hardy but is interrupted by Derrick Bateman. The former NXT star is in full on douchebag mode as he questions why Fatu is trying to interview a âwashed up burnoutâ like Hardy instead of THE hottest act in professional wrestling, Derrick Bateman. Of course, Hardy doesnât take kindly to being called washed up but Bateman backs off, stating that if heâs gonna beat Jeffâs ass, he wants it to be in the ring so itâll get the press it deserves. This leads to Hardy challenging the egomanaic to a match at Rise Above which is quickly accepted. [80%]
3. Time to decide who will move onto the semi-finals of the Womenâs Championship tournament from Block A! Nattie Neidhart has not been beaten since coming to the NWA. If she can win here, she moves onto the single elimination portion. On the other side, Madison Eagles has performed very well to this point but needs to win tonight to clinch her spot in the semis. Itâs also worth noting that if Eagles wins, Nattie & Mercedes Martinez will need to have a tiebreaker match as they fought to a time limit draw earlier in the tournament. Very physical match here as both women show how strong their desire to be champion is with each strike and hold. Nattieâs desire is just a bit stronger, however, as she brings Eagles down full force onto her knees with a Tilt-a-Whirl Backbreaker before transitioning into the Sharpshooter. Eagles fights and fights but she has to tap out after being dragged back to the middle of the ring. With Nattieâs win, we know that she will join Mercedes Martinez, Cheerleader Melissa, & Gail Kim in the semi-finals. [**]
- After the match, Teddy Hart (flanked by DH Smith carrying a Canadian flag) runs out to celebrate with his cousin Nattie Neidhart. As a proud Nattie beams, Hart declares the NWA Womenâs Championship is as good as hers. Soon enough, that championship will be property of The Hart Foundation! [68%]
4. Time for one of those âSpecial Showcaseâ 4-Corners matches that Commissioner Pearce loves booking for some reason. This one consists of Robert Anthony, Brian Cage, Chuck Taylor, & Austin Aries. The action is fast-paced from start to finish as each competitor gets a chance to shine. Cage shows some impressive strength as he lifts Taylor high over his head before tossing him over the top rope onto Ego. Flexing for the hoes, Cage turns around into a Discus Elbow from Aries. Brainbuster! Thatâll do it. [***]
- After the match, Austin Aries issues a challenge to âThe Viperâ Randy Orton for a match on PPV. âYou and me, one on one. Whatâd ya say, Viper?â [86%]
5. We get a championship contest to close out this weekâs show as Low-Ki defends his Television Championship against Jimmy Rave. This match ends up being very good but doesnât quite reach the level of being great, possibly due to time constraints. Rave has the champion on the ropes at several points, even connecting with Ghanarhea but being unable to follow up with a pin due to Ki wisely rolling out of the ring. After a brief battle on the outside, Rave goes for a German Suplex in the ring. Ki is able to grab the ropes and stop himself from going up. In the midst of this struggle, the ref doesnât catch Ki landing a kick square in the groin region of Jimmy Rave. The challenger goes down in a heap as Ki ascends to the top. Warriorâs Way! 1-2-3! It took an illegal kick but Ki is walking out of Louisville as the TV champion. [***Ÿ]
