I think that the only DVD release of "KISS Meets The Phantom Of The Park" is the European Theatrical release, and only as a part of the KISSology DVD sets.

The entire opening scene of the Marx Brothers' A Night at the Opera has been lost for 70 years. The movie opens with no establishing shot or even a caption that tells you that this is Milan. Originally, there was an elaborate three-minute musical number with ordinary Italians singing in the streets before it transitions into the scene at the hotel. The entire sequence was cut from the movie during World War II to remove the most obvious reference to Italy. Unfortunately, they cut it from the main negative of the movie, so the whole thing was completely lost.

THX 1138 got the Star Wars special edition treatment. I believe that it’s only available in director’s cut edition in its DVD and Blu Ray releases.

Martin Lawrence monologue for SNL has ever re-aired.
Similarly, you're probably not gonna find Chris Farley's hostin ep shortly before his death where he was clearly coked outta his mind.

Your post made me curious and I checked it out. According to Wikipedia, a company called Cheezy Flicks released the original version of the DVD, but it was almost immediately pulled and now next to impossible to find. Also, KISSology Volune II which contains just the European cut as you mentioned is now out of print. I’ve always been curious about the film, but am not a KISS fan despite loving the movie Detroit Rock City. I’d check it out it was included in a bargain DVD set or showed up free on YouTube, but I’m not willing to spend much hunting for it.

Actually, I've seen it on Comedy Central (where they cut out the cold opening and the monologue, both which made reference to his problems), and on Netflix (where they kept those in).

I love this kind of topic. Some of this is stretching, but... It's Your First Kiss, Charlie Brown. This somehow became a watermark for "censored versions becoming the only version" to me. As in I'll call similar "It's Your First Kiss...Syndrome." After the first airing, any other airing and any VHS or DVD release is the copy with the scrubbed insults from Peppermint Patty. Only a couple years back did somebody post the proper scenes. Not that it takes too much effort, as the quotes are masked by playing them backwards. So you need only take the audio, re-reverse it, and you get the original lines. The original version of A Charlie Brown Christmas hasn't been shown in it's entirety since it's original few airings. It had a bit more commercialism in it than the current version aludes to. That was The Projected Man, and it wasn't intentional, from my understanding.

I guess viewers at the time misunderstood it and thought it was some kind of permanent change. Related to the holiday specials...Frosty the Snowman minus June Foray has been the canon version for quite some time

Not a film, but I just read the original Johnny Quest Series was released on DVD with some episodes edited and with incorrect closing credits. Are the unedited episodes available anywhere?
I was considering picking it up sometime, but one thing I really liked about the series was how dark it could get. I’d hate to see that toned down.

The first three seasons of Red Dwarf got a make over. Mainly model shots of the ships were replaced with cgi versions seen from season 7 onwards. With this content was cut from the episodes.
And for a while it looked like these were going to be standard. Luckily when the series was put on DVD, they put the original versions on them.

I like the Star Trek TOS episodes with the updated effects, even though the original versions definitely have their charms.

I think they finally changed the part in Aladdin where Aladdin says that good teenagers take off their clothes.

In 2009 or 2010 Bounce aired 2 or 3 hours of Fat Albert every Tuesday.
Most of the stuff mentioned isn't hard to find, just no official releases. In 2005 got at a con all of WKRP with the original music.

And speaking of Filmation...how about everything in the library having to be PAL version? Probably more to do with PAL being higher quality than NTSC and that it runs slightly slower.

The VHS that I have and the version I saw on TV later on begs to differ.

I get that was the original design of Red Dwarf and we only wound up with the version that appeared in the first five series because the effects team who built the original model misread the design plans and they couldn't afford to rebuild it correctly, but that was a damn happy accident.

Hell, they even put that in canon, where the original was smaller because the company was cheap and Kryten's nanobots built what it was supposed to be like just for series 8.
