Difficult to tell anything from that trailer but yea, I feel like Will could make or kill this film. Obviously, this is a *huge* if, but if Will Smith is good here, I could see a Best Supporting Actor nomination for him.

So many creative people working for Disney, and their idea is “let’s rehash what made money from 25 years ago in a different format”. I feel like they’re making movies for people my age who remember the original, and that’s just weird. They could remaster the original, re-release it, and make a fortune while saving themselves the cost of making a new movie. Just..... what is this for?! I grew up on Lion King, Jungle Book, Aladdin, etc. My daughters like those movies, but they LOVED the new Jungle Book and Beauty and the Beast movies. When I told them a new Lion King and Aladdin were coming, they were excited for that too. So that’s what this is for. Kids. And considering how much money they’re making off these new movies, I think their strategy is fine and the people shouting “why remake my childhood favorites?!” are right up there with the old people from my childhood who got angry anytime a remake came along. Life passed y’all by and kids wanna see new shit, not the old shit their parents liked as a kid.

Because, like others pointed out, they make shit tons of money so obeisly theirs a audience out there for these type of movies. So Disney will keep making them. For what it's worth, these remakes are hit and miss for me, I thought Jungle Book was amazing, while beauty and the beast was meh. Iam very much looking forward to aladdin thought

Agreed on that last point. Jungle Book was good. Beauty & The Beast felt like the most pointless film I'd seen in theaters since Peter Jacksons King Kong. i got hope for Aladdin and Lion King but ..still my anticipation is also checked.

Nice to know Black Scorpion's getting work after Starrcade 1990. Srsly, that looks pretty impressive so far. Not a lot to go by yet, so we'll see. Dusty Rhodes as the Genie or bust.

Huh. Smith not being blue is cool with me I guess, as that hints to me they don’t want to redo the 1992 film shot-for-shot.

Will Smith posted the cover on his Instagram and in the comments said he's going to be blue and CGI most of the movie, and these pictures are the genie disguised in human form.

He’ll be blue classic Genie in the film eventually. The special effects are still being worked on.

That EW cover is just going to create a whole new generation of people misremembering a Genie Sinbad movie.
