Justus Sheffield, Erik Swanson and Dom Thompson-Williams go to Seattle in return, also according to Passan. Actually not a horrible trade for the M's Yeah, not a bad start to an eventual rebuild. Next year everyone possible will be traded sans Haniger.

Probably thinking about locking up Haniger and Gonzalez if he produces like this year with that and then saving up for some big trade splash a few years down the line. Gordon and Leake also leave in 2020, so the M's might try to shop them around the trade deadline for a contender looking to add something.

Justus Sheffield, Erik Swanson and Dom Thompson-Williams go to Seattle in return, also according to Passan. Sad to lose Justus who was the top left handed pitcher but Yankees are in win now mode and when Paxton is healthy he's a dog They still got money to sign another pitcher too but I assume that takes them out the running on Corbin Yankees rotation now is Sevy Paxton Tanaka C.C. Now whoever they get moves C.C. to the bottom of the rotation which is where he needs to be. Wonder if they try to drop money to get back Evoaldi. Will be interesting to see what pieces they get back for Sonny Gray. They got to make a big move without giving up Andujar. I will be honest in wanting Kluber more but can't be sad about James
Agreed on the point about Kluber. Kluber will give you 200+ IP year in and year out. Paxton might be a poor man's Chris Sale with an added caveat of an injury history, but his stuff is just as legit. I'm of the belief that the Indians probably asked for Andujar in a Kluber deal, so Cashman went with the next best thing. Sheffield is going to be a big-time #2-#3 pitcher in the majors and maybe even a higher ceiling once he masters his control, but it's officially win-now mode for New York. I expect guys like Abreu, Frazier, Florial, Acevedo/German, and Estrada to be shipped out in short order when reinforcements are needed. FWIW, I think Erik Swanson is not going to be a slouch either. Had it not been for the other fringy guys like Loaisiga, German, and Cessa, he probably would've got a shot in the majors. He was likely also a Rule V casualty-to-be. I'm still intrigued with Happ returning to the Bronx, particularly with the steep price tag that Corbin is going to come with. Corbin also has spent his career in the NL West whereas Happ has been tested in the AL East and has succeeded. Nice trade. I give it a B.

Paxton is such a beast when healthy. Good trade for the Yanks, even though I am very interested to see what Sheff turns into. Gotta bet on the proven track record when you're a contender.

Yea, the best thing about the yanks is the fact they still have a deep farm system despite all the trades they made and they also been hitting the international draft so got touted players not on the radar yet But yeah I’m surprised we never got a good look at Sheff especially when the Yanks considered him an untouchable. A possibility is they think he could take a few more years to develop but still not like Yanks couldn’t have spent the money on a Corbin and slowly developed Sheff even if he became an Andrew Miller type reliever. The B grade I agree with. They also still have Adams who was right behind Sheff as the top Yankee pitching prospect. Still can see them trading Andujar for a top flight pitcher if they go after a Harrison or Dozier Yanks aren’t done getting pitching but they made a big splash early

He had 33 HR and they DFA'd him which the Pirates picked him up
That is one cheap ass franchise

Seems like Yanks were shopping Sheffield everywhere in terms of a bargaining piece to get a star
His name was involved in the Indians trades to get Kluber and the Arizona trade to get Goldschmidt

Sort of throwing it out there but I wonder if the Yanks was willing to eat all the money owed to Greinke which I think he had 3 years and $90 something million would that help facilitate a trade for Goldy built around a package of Clint Frazier and Chance Adams. This is assuming Grienke doesn't have a no trade clause
But yeah it's something the Yankees have the pieces to do but it also be a steep price to pay. Still think Frazier has what it takes to be a big time player in the league but he's stuck behind a deep OF. It would fill a need at P and 1B for Yankees and make them dangerous
Their SP rotation would Sevy, Paxton, Grienke, Tanaka, and CC
However, I wrote them off getting Corbin after getting Paxton and I think I may have been wrong about that. If Corbin comes at a good price they would still be in on him

Brian McCann back to the Braves Braves also signed Josh Donaldson. 1 hear deal for 23 million. Good deal for both sides
Donaldson gets to prove he's healthy and get a contract for next year while Braves get a beast middle of the order bat to pair with Freeman assuming Josh is healthy this year
Thought their was an outside chance of Philly getting both Donaldson and Harper
Even bigger I think this takes ATL out the Machado sweepstakes. Unless they aren't sure on Swanson because if you sign Machado, Dansby is now a man without a starting spot

It's an iffy proposition to expect Josh Donaldson to be healthy for an entire season, as he's dealt with calf injuries for the better part of the last two years - missing 129 games since 2017 - but if he can consistently man the hot corner, then the Braves have established an extremely formidable top of the lineup. Ronald Acuna Jr., Ozzie Albies, Freddie Freeman, and Donaldson is arguably the best 1 through 4 hitters in the National League.
Now we await how the Phillies respond. They've been linked to virtually every big-name free agent or trade target this off-season, and they'll need to respond to the Braves putting some space between them in the division.
