I don't see anywhere a Bryan title run leads either. I have no real interest in him vs. Miz again. Bryan/Shane might be okay as an undercard deal, but not a WWE title match. I have thought for a while they desperately want Omega to come in and face AJ at WM. There have even been jokes on BTE about it. There's way more opportunities and opponents with a Bryan run compared to a Styles run given Styles has beaten every credible heel on his side within the past year. Bryan's got more opponents by pure proxy at that point regardless how they're built. As for Bryan you can either give him Cena, Rusev (given Rusev beat Bryan clean), Jeff (former world champion), Mysterio (former world champion) or elevate Kofi or Big E. Actually, you can even turn Joe face if you need to. There's just more opponents for Bryan than there is Styles. To there being "zero long term here", I think that's false. Vince just decided to do it now because it was the best possible option from multiple points. Bryan being champion and Styles losing the belt after a year was bound to happen within the next 6 months so we've just sped up the process. For what reason? If AJ gets the title again where does it lead? Probably AJ/Orton He's still probably facing Orton at WM. It doesn't have to be for a title. Orton and Styles are big enough names to not need a title to face each other at a WM. Same with Cena and Styles in their first set of matches.

Wanted to bump this rather than make a new thread. With the Rumble over and Rollins apparently choosing Brock, who is left for Bryan?
I thought Cena or someone from New Day made the most sense with his anti-corporate thing but Cena seems to be headed towards a match with McIntyre and they didn't pull the trigger on Kofi again. I guessed Rey on the first page and think that is still viable, especially with how great Rey has been, but they seem to be keeping him and Almas together. Any other ideas?

To counter Bryan, we get rnvironmentally unfriendly Randy Orton, inexplicably booked as a polluting, animal punching babyface.

Should be the Miz, but right now he seems to be in this storyline with Shane, so I'm going off the board with Bray Wyatt.

Oh lord I can see Wyatt actually, especially with Rowan now being Bryan's lackey. As far as the picks here I would go with Balor since he's the guy that makes the most sense. I really don't get the notion that someone from the New Day would get such a spot. Those guys have lost all heat and momentum anyway. If they had split those guys into singles action a year or so ago then maybe Big E. or Kofi would have viable. But that ship has long since sailed.

Rey Mysterio and Mustafa Ali are the two likely options.

Seeing the responses to this thread and seeing where we are right now is pretty interesting.

Rey Mysterio would be incredible.
I think there’s a reason he’s not in the EC against Bryan.

Given the makeup of his new belt, RVD, Sabu, or Val Venis. Kayfabewise, Road Dogg or Godfather.
And I bet someone beat me to this joke.

I kinda wonder if this is the plan for Undertaker too. I remember newz from a few years back of him wanting to work with Bryan.

Should have been Rollins with Balor facing Lesnar as the demon. Now I don’t even know.

Miz challenges for the title leading to a new WWE champ- Shane McMahon.
balor would be a nice option though- especially if he goes full demon so bryan can rant about how he is what will happen to everyone if they keep eating hotdogs and drink from plastic cups and bottles and the six pack abs is because there is a literal six pack sewn into his stomach.

Why does the Batista thing keep getting suggested? That angle is completely heatless now. Batista beat him at Mania XXX, clean as a f***ing whistle, after doing a stretcher job and another half-hour match. That feud is OVER. He was even the one that lost, Randy has more of a claim than Batista does.
To be honest, given Bryan as WWE champion is unlikely to close the show, I want them to take a risk with it and just give us a really good match even though we know he won't lose it. I'd say let Mustafa Ali lose to him. Or Samoa Joe. Or Nakamura. Just something more interesting than the usual suspects, even if they are functionally championship jobbers.

I don't think Balor is out of play yet, though it seems he will be facing Lashley at least through the EC.
Him having the custom Champion of Earth belt gives them a lot of room to go with things. I can easily see him losing in the Elimination Chamber or at Fastlane and end up in a ladder match with the WWE Champ (and maybe a few others). Yeah, I'll go with Jeff Hardy winning the title at Elimination Chamber and then at Fastlane Bryan will ruin a match with Hardy, Joe, and AJ to set up a ladder match at WM (in this thread at least).

Rowan. All part of his plan to rise to the top.

I’ll go with Samoa Joe. Bryan can have a loose alliance in the Chamber & get Joe to do the dirty work before screwing him & winning the match. Seems like a way to turn Joe babyface without having to make many changes.
