That “weak mind” tweet is the social media equivalent of D’bo knocking out Red.

I agree with the spirit of it but this video just highlights the difference between Becky and Austin. If that were Austin he'd have taken care of business before the 40 second video was done.

Yeah, it's an exaggeration. But this is, like, so enormously obviously an in-character thing (and similar in spirit to Becky's recent twitter behavior) it's bizarre to me anyone's taking it remotely seriously. I think people are enjoying the idea that Becky's somehow going rogue and actually roasting egos with her twitter, and it's making them lose some perspective. Yeah, I’ve been a tad bit surprised that so many people on multiple platforms in the community think this was Nias genuine apology and chose that to pile on the already existing backlash as if this wasn’t the most kayfabe’d Twitter apology ever. A tad bit weird and a sign that people need to really learn to separate the person from the character, in my opinion. This is why wrestlers should have two accounts. One under their real name for out of character posts. And one under their wrestling name for in character posts.

To be fair, most would probably be ran by interns who would have to tweet the cheesiest shit lol I’d rather it come from the person themselves, even if it does become a bit much at times. Besides, people should be a bit smarter than to think Nia really meant her tweet lol

Very true, which leads me to how I was going to answer this, until someone else posted it first.
In an age where most people understand that professional wrestling isn't real, and a good portion of the fans on the internet consider themselves to be "smart" to everything, WWE has figured out how to use social media and the internet to create a new sort of kayfabe, or at the very least blurring the lines between what is happening in character or not to the point where "smart" fans find themselves still being worked.

Exactly. It’s actually a really smart idea. You get to see a real side of them with their love for wrestling and or their day to day routines and still “keeping it kayfabe.” And its clearly working as people hate Nia even more for that tweet instead of it being a public apology.

In my mind, as bad as this accident and crazy as the response has been, can you imagine what this board and the wrestling internet scene in general would be like if Brie Bella had been the one to bust up and concuss the Lass Kicker?

Wait wait wait. Wtf is the story behind this? Why did this happen? Is "Vince McMahon" a good enough answer? Bobby Lashley does muscular poses, and this is the one he does to each side of the ring showing off his glutes.

This is so weird to me. Nia's tweet might as well have had a neon sign on it saying "in character." Part of the reason a social media thing like this can work is how obvious it is... it's fun. If it's 'real' it stops being fun. I think lots of wrestling fans just cannot and will not give up the notion of wrestlers getting THEMSELVES over (instead of it being a process involving a bunch of people telling ongoing stories on serial TV shows). And so they've latched onto this Becky twitter thing and because it's the new way of proving meritocracy could work in the WWE. It's weird.

I'm pretty sure most people realized that post was in character. I hope they do, but I’ve made the mistake of reading tweet replies to wrestlers more than once, and believe me it is a sobering experience.

Are they setting up a Ronda heel turn? Because it's been interesting seeing Rusev and The New Day guys jump in and gang up on Ronda, lol. Unbeatable babyfaces get boring quickly so she was going to end up getting some boos anyway. Edit: I guess it could simply be that weirdo Survivor Series brand loyalty shit too.

You’d be surprised unfortunately. Yeah, meta kayfabe confuses a LOT of people. Yeah, ive seen people on twitter and SquaredCircle take this to heart and really turn up the vitriol. Kinda sad, but it gets the heel heat they want. So technically it’s a win for heel Nia.
