The biggest difference is the people were immediately ready to get behind Becky when the push started while it took a lot of the wwf fanbase awhile to take to Austin most of the crowd weren’t ready for him for a bit.At Survivor Series 96 while still a heel he got a bit of a face pop for his entrance but then for months the crowds were indifferent, the mania 13 match did a good job of getting him a face reaction for 1 night but the shows post that his reactions were weak the fans weren’t ready for essentially a heel to be a top face at that time they got there but it took some work and pretty much all of the credit for Austin’s turn should go to Bret Hart being such a whiny jerk and Austin terrorizing him helped ease the transition but it always catches me off guard when watching post mania 13 stuff is how uneasy the fans were about cheering Austin it feels like they feel they shouldn’t cheer him but when they do much like Lita it just feels right.

She may not have the same aura Austin had or be as big as he was (I grew up watching him and I remember how huge he was), but she IS like Austin in her ability to deliver a promo that makes you believe she truly feels what she's saying. And here’s another thing, when’s the last time there’s been this much positive buzz around one person? Maybe Bryan in 2013? Just look at this forum, a great deal of the conversation is about this women. And it’s pretty much all positive. The story of just how big a star she can be is far from over. She’s cool in a way that today’s WWE struggles with. When she’s healthy, keep pushing her, and see where it takes you.

Austin made wrestling popular worldwide. Austin made Vince a billionaire. Austin is the reason why we’re not watching Nitro every Monday night. Becky well not so much. Bobby Heenan: It’s like comparing ice cream to cow manure. Nia is the cow manure to Becky's ice cream

It is a big shame Steph is not the SDN GM as that would be a perfect story line for her.

No offense to Becky but Bryan was much more over than her during the late 2013 period. Even the yes chants received mainstream attention. Becky is pretty over in the scope of main event wrestlers but Austin/Punk/Bryan were at a different level. Like I don't see Becky getting this type of reaction

Austin competed with a broken neck, Becky had a boo boo and got pulled out, just sayin To be fair, this was also a time period where people were regularly having chairs wrapped around their heads. Safety in general has tightened up quite a bit. Even Cena had to sit on the sidelines when his nose was broken.

Y'all know damn well Austin would have been talking MAD reckless on twitter if it was around during his beef with Bret Hart, lol Now I’m picturing the pager 3:16 moment, but with Rock getting a Twitter DM. So, thanks for that.

She needs to put Stephanie down before she reaches Austin levels. the McMahon/Lynch level feud. maybe they'll try that if becky beats rousey and becomes RAW champ. steph comes out to congratulate becky for finally putting down rousey and tries to take her under her ring and becky's all "the Man doesn't need a McMahon to be the best because i'm already the Man." steph gets furious and we're off. while Austin/hart was the breakout feud for stone cold, Austin didn't go nuclear until he started feuding with Vince. becky would currently be in the Austin/hart stage- first I thought charlotte would be that feud but now it seems rousey will be it. character-wise yeah they're similar but atm we're trying to compare becky who is just starting out on the path to a prime mudhole stomping, middle finger flipping, beer swilling Austin. it's not fair to flair...er becky. unrelated note- did anyone else notice how steph DIDN'T emasculate braun when they went 1 on 1 promo-wise on RAW?

She's not the next Austin.
She's the first Becky.

DB, leading up to Mania 30, was the most over Superstar since the Attitude Era. That’s why I used him as the cutoff. I don’t remember this much positive buzz, about one person, since then. Guys like Seth, AJ,, and Rusev are super over, but I don’t know if they’ve ever gotten people talking quite like this. And this version of Becky Lynch is till in its early stages. In an earlier post, I said it’s unfair to compare anyone to Austin. But it’s also unfair to put some sort of artificial limit on something that’s just getting started.

Whenever people bust out this comparison when a wrestler gets really hot, it really sort of undersells the fact that Austin from 1997-1999 has a strong argument for being the most over wrestler OF ALL TIME.
Becky's been on fire for the last several months but if you're like "I see a lot of Austin in her", it's a reach.
