Like, it’s obviously a dream match but the booking for it sucks.
No build up, just “oh and now this is happening this week.” It’s a David vs Goliath match, and how do you make David the heel? Unless Lesnar is chasing Bryan and trying to annihilate him and Bryan wins through nefarious ways and doesn’t get his comeuppance..but none of that will happen because there’s obviously no history and Lesnar can only do the same match over and over again anyway. And is Lesnar even a face at this point?
It’s such a let down. I’m interested in where this Bryan heel turn is going but it feels like it’ll be squandered when he inevitably gets fed to Lesnar.
What a mess.

2018 is so weird for so many potentially massive matches and moments feeling like nothing.

I’m just bummed that it’s preparing for UFC Brock which means he’s gonna give no f***s. Maybe Heyman can convince to him to have a real match like he did with AJ last year. I dunno, but my expectations are real low.

The Styles/Lesnar match came out of nowhere and it was great. I was gonna say they did like a one week buildup to Jinder vs Brock last year and then AJ became champ like a week or two before Survivor Series and then we got a good match instead of an awful one.

Same thing during TLC last year. Reigns and Wyatt became sick and they were replaced by Styles and Angle and both of the matches were dope.

There was just a weird period of "Suddenly, AJ STYLES!" for a month or so. And then Balor got killed by KANE the next night. What a couple years this company's had.

Seriously and those TLC matches were planned in 2 days without build too. It's like when they don't do a build the matches end up being really good.

I’m not watching it.
It’s gonna be like the concussion meter scene from Not another teen movie.

Brock squash
Styles-related non-finish
Bryan takes on a Backlund crazy persona & takes a ton of punishment before getting Brock in a submission that he won’t release.

Balor/Styles was a last minute decision and it was great.
They built up A.J./Brock a week before the actual PPV and it was great.
The only weird thing about it is how many head bumps Bryan might take.

The Styles/Lesnar match came out of nowhere and it was great. Yes, but it was heel Lesnar against face Styles, so it made sense. This is heel Lesnar against heel Bryan, who now has to battle the Goliath-like Brock Lesnar after a year-long "inspirational comeback" storyline and still remain a heel. This is what I'd do, and it's probably full of holes, but it makes sense to me: 1) Bryan and Lesnar are set to square off, the bell rings, and Bryan jumps out of the ring. He just walks away and Brock wins by countout. Shane comes out and is furious with Bryan, but Bryan just shrugs him off and says he's not risking an injury against Lesnar just so Shane can one-up his sister (echoing the sentiments of fans who don't see the point of the Raw vs. Smackdown feud). 2) AJ Styles comes out and says that if Bryan won't represent Smackdown, he'll be happy to, even though he's no longer champion. Brock at first refuses to "wrestle two matches in one night," but Styles goads him on until Brock agrees. We then get a Lesnar/Styles match, and as much as I'd love to have Styles beat Brock here, I'll keep things somewhat realistic and say that Brock gets himself disqualified by putting his hands on the referee. Brock goes ballistic and beats up a number of officials, maybe even getting himself arrested, but Styles is technically the winner. 3) AJ (who fought a tough match against Brock but avoided the worst parts of his freakout) tells Shane that these fans deserve better than a DQ finish. Shane says there's no way that Lesnar will be allowed out of custody, and Styles says he wasn't talking about Lesnar. He wants to invoke his contractual rematch against Bryan in a match with no countouts or disqualifications. Shane agrees and says that Bryan will come out right now and defend the title or he's in breach of contract and will be fired. Bryan agrees because Styles just took a beating from Lesnar so he should be easy to beat. We then get a competitive title match between the fighting Styles and the cowardly Bryan, which Bryan narrowly wins by cheating. We have in effect just seen a round robin challenge where every man went 1-1.

AJ is gonna distract him at the start of the match and Brock is just gonna give him one F5 for the win.
If this happens, I’m done. Brock has no business being champ if he can’t wrestle real matches let alone show up every week.

Since there is maybe a 1% percent Bryan wins, I would love if it ended with Bryan giving Brock a blatant low blow and just walking out.

Balor/Styles was an upgrade from whatever weirdness we were going to get.
AJ/Brock was a HUGE f***ing upgrade from what we were going to get.
Going from AJ/Brock 2 to Bryan/Brock with 5 days build is at best a lateral movement, and in the opinion of a few of us, a downgrade from a booking standpoint. Dominant 1 year long champion vs. dominant sometimes is there champion with history from having a previous match, and AJ being AJ he'd deliver. To Bryan rushed heel turn, rushed title win, rushed match with Lesnar. There's no oomph to it. And it should be a HUGE deal. Any David/Goliath storytelling was shot in Lashley's ass by having Bryan go heel 5 days before the match.
It's like apples and oranges to me to compare it to the other stuff.

Bryan being a crafty sneaky Bayard who can actually get the upper hand if can outsmart Brock could be fun. I love when two villains fight because all bets are off. It's about who can out evil the next man.

This match is going to be awesome. Bryan will not waste this opportunity. I have faith.
