Impact Wrestling stars The LAX will no longer be facing WWE NXT Superstars at the upcoming EVOLVE events in December as Impact officials have pulled them from the show. As noted earlier, LAX's Santana & Ortiz were set to face EVOLVE Tag Team Champions The Street Profits (Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins of NXT) and Leon Ruff & AR Fox in a Triple Threat at the December 15 EVOLVE event in Queens. They were then to team with Austin Theory to face The Street Profits & Darby Allin at the EVOLVE event in Long Island the next night. These matches were just announced by WWN Live this morning. WWN's Gabe Sapolsky, who also worked for WWE with the NXT brand, took to Twitter today and announced that Impact has pulled LAX from both EVOLVE events www.wrestlinginc.com/news/2018/11/impact-officials-pull-the-lax-from-upcoming-evolve-matches-648269/

I wonder why?
I mean, it's not the OGz, so it can't be for safety concerns for the Street Profits.

Yep. Wouldn't want them having a great match with better known teams to help maybe pull some eyes toward Impact.
Brilliant.
Impact gonna TNA, no matter what.

They probably thought if HHH saw them wrestled they'd be nxt bound. In a match where AR Fox is present even if it has five more people Trips will see only one man - him. On a side note Street Profits are not good enough to score a pin against LAX

It's safe to assume that they did it because Evolve is basically a WWE developmental promotion at this point.

This boggles my mind.
On the one hand, I give TNA credit for actually avoiding the age old criticism they may have faced of TNA always chasing after WWE and deciding not to do it just once.
But on the other... This. Was. Your. Chance. You. Dummies. After years of feeding off of this "That Company Up North" idiocy, this was your chance to have 2 of your wrestlers take on 2 of the WWE's wrestlers in a match that WWE was alright with...and you goddamn blinked. You. Goddamn. Blinked. All of the criticism that TNA was all talk, no action, you just proved it. If they canceled the match because they were afraid LAX would impress and get signed, that's shitty. But if they just got cold feet...that's TNA doing what TNA does best. Leaving money on the table.

I get the mindset here
Like already said EVOLVE is just a developmental to NXT and no way were their guys going over the street profits.
On the other hand this may just backfire on TNA with the guys looking at it from the perspective of TNA taking an oppurtunity away from them

Given how WWE are locking down their wrestlers to stop anyone else doing shows and making money with them... Fair whacks to Impact. Why give WWE guys a win over your guys? Because we all know who's taking the pin with who funds Evolve.

Can’t say I’d want one of my top teams to take a pin from the Street Profits either. I’m sure that’s what it boiled down to.

I would have done the same thing. LAX wasn't going over the Street Profits and LAX wouldn't be the ones taking the fall either, thus the third team and then the six man. Just poor booking by Gabe, IMO. He had to know that the matches were not going to fly. Should have done a 8 man with them teaming or some sort of scramble type match where they wouldn't interact much.

Yeah. I'm the first guy to shit on TNA when they've earned an L, but this just makes sense. No way should you let your top team lose to the champs of the developmental league's developmental league.

If WWE is gonna big league specific companies then by no means should those edged out companies be used as a stepping stone beforehand.
Good on TNA here.

Funny thing is that happened before once - Abyss faced Matt Hardy on some random indie shortly after he come back following his brief firing during the whole Edge thing.

Why would Impact want one of their top teams wrestling (and losing to, let's be honest) an obscure WWE developmental team with no name value, especially in a time where WWE is signing away literally everyone that breathes in their direction slightly?
Like, I'm not one to defend TNA decision making, but this is the best course of action they could have taken.

So you'd book a match to end without a real finish, knowing you won't be able to follow up on it and expect a smart heavy audience to be okay with that?

Off topic.
Am I the only one who every time they see the name "Santana" in LAX, they mis-read it as "Santina" and picture Santinos sister?
