My condolences to the Houston Roughnecks. They just got the worst QB of the bunch.

With the draft starting today, the XFL announced the eight quarterbacks who have a guaranteed roster spot and their assigned teams: Landry Jones (Dallas Renegades) Cardale Jones (DC Defenders) Philip Walker (Houston Roughnecks) Luis Perez (LA Wildcats) Matt McGloin (NY Guardians) Jordan Ta’amu (St. Louis BattleHawks) Brandon Silvers (Seattle Dragons) Aaron Murray (Tampa Bay Vipers) I figured the board would appreciate this: The XFL is planning a series of perks for its season ticket holders, with one of them being a chance to join an online community called the Football Advisory Network. Hold on a sec, let’s look at that again. The Football Advisory Network? The ... FAN? I mean, I like Phillip Walker as a Colts fan, but the guy was buried on their practice squad for a reason. The franchise QBs? Landry Jones (Dallas Renegades) 19 total games, 5 starts Cardale Jones (DC Defenders) 1 game, 0 starts Phillip Walker (Houston Roughnecks) 0 games Luis Perez (LA Wildcats) 0 NFL games, 8 AAF starts Matt McGloin (NY Guardians) 13 games, 7 starts Jordan Ta’amu (St. Louis BattleHawks) 0 games Brandon Silvers (Seattle Dragons) 0 NFL games, 3 AAF starts Aaron Murray (Tampa Bay Vipers) 0 NFL games, 5 AAF games (3 starts) I mean, there are actual NFL quality QBs that are currently unemployed. Brock Osweiler might be the epitome of mediocre in the NFL, but he'd rip apart a spring league. Granted, I doubt the XFL can afford a Sam Bradford, Osweiler or even Tom Savage, all whom could potentially still get NFL backup jobs any day now, but it could not hurt to ask them. Btw, I did not include Kaep on the options. Not that he isn't the best available, but the XFL is still owned by a man man married to the head of a Pro-Trump SuperPAC. There is absolutely no chance that they would even entertain talking to him at all. The issue is Osweiler is it seemed like he felt the Spring league was below him. Bradford no idea if he had interest with his knee issues that he may gave it up. True there are other former NFL QBs out there any maybe better than the choices. However some of those guys still looking for that NFL hope with the injuries in the NFL.

It was funny hearing a talking head on ESPN desperately try to talk this up as being a big deal. And the people on NFL Live just sorta humored him.

Unlike the guys that were signed to teams, there is a very real chance the next time a QB gets hurt that Osweiler gets a call (the Colts kicked the tires on him this summer). A back up job pays way more than the XFL would. As I typed this up the news that Osweiler is retiring popped up on my computer. Must be nice to retire with $41M in career earnings at 28.

That's a hell of a payday for one good game against the Patriots.

Uh oh.
Corey Vereen, one of the players drafted has backed out because he's saying that his contract wasn't what was discussed at the XFL combine.
I wonder if others will take a second look at their contracts, and am I surprised that this hack league possibly lied to players already? Absolutely not.

Now if this wasn't ever explained to Vereen and whoever I don't know. But here it is using a team for an example in this

They might as well see “LOL “when they check their bank account to see if their direct deposit went through every week.

On a side note, I found a Buffalo nickel on the bus one time. They'd get more if they crush the freedom fighters before the start of the rainy season.

Perhaps it wasn't such a good idea to put Paul Heyman in charge of payroll.

To be fair, 27k for six months of work isn’t that awful Sure, if you're working in an office or something. It's a bit different when you're putting your physical body on the line.
