I just noticed that they'll have a team in LA. Why? There's now 2 NFL teams in LA, neither one of which has a fanatic fanbase, even with the Rams making the Super Bowl. Why not go make a deal with SD, or with any other SoCal city with a football stadium? I guess it's due to the AAF having a team in SD, but it still feels like you should go to cities with a decent sized fanbase that are hungry for football. LA was being chased by the NFL not because there were rabid fans clamoring for football again, but because developers were hungry to develop stadiums and because the NFL sees LA as a big money mark. The XFL trying to establish a team in LA feels like it's another hole they'll be throwing money into, because they're going to have to pay through the nose to rent any stadium in the city, and aren't going to have a lot of income from fans to make up that amount. Well, they went big all over and yes LA didn't make sense. Than again the fact outside of St. Louis, they are all NFL Cities. LA made no sense because of fan base reasons and the same could be said of Tampa Bay. Nothing wrong with going to NFL markets that are clear football cities. New York same thing but they have more of a fan base than LA.

New York Metro is very much a pro team town. We got nine pro teams in just the big four along with at least two MLS teams and various minor and independent league teams that all enjoy varying amounts of success. Obviously, an AAF or XFL team won't do nearly as well as the Giants or Jets (and believe me, both the Giants and the Jets have extremely passionate fanbases so putting us in the same grouping as Los Angeles is a bit of a headscratcher), but as long as it's a quality product with some degree of sustainability, it will have its fanbase here. Granted, I don't have much of any faith in the XFL putting out a quality product.
If anything it's college sports that have trouble gaining traction here. Like, we'll pay attention to March Madness, especially if one of the locals makes a run. But we couldn't give less of a shit about college football outside of the National Championship Game and a couple of the major bowls.

This XFL have done the right things so for with who is in charge and the first coach/GM was a big name. The quality on the field is what I am more worried about. Mainly because AAF starting this weekend had first crack at talent. While they can look at the AAF as a what works and what doesn't, the games are going to be as good as the talent around it.

Asking fans to sit outdoors in the heat to see a mediocre or worse team isn't going to go over well. Provide a decent product and people might show up.

Pep Hamilton former Michigan, Stanford, Colts, and Browns OC has been announced as GM and coach for the DC team As a Michigan fan, I will say this is quite a step down from the Bob Stoops announcement. LOL

So are they going to reveal the names, logos, and colors of these teams? I'm trying to decide if I want to support Dallas more, or support DC.

AAF Didn't do it until after all the coaches was announced. XFL did it a little different, they announced the City first in one conference, and now going back to starting to announced Head coach/GM for each team. They seem want to drag this process out for some reason.

I'm going to spew out a random thought that very well might just be verbal diarrhea:
I'm curious if there would be a market for like a "semi pro collegiate-based" team made up of guys that didn't make the NFL but had good talent that all came through the same college. Like stick an XFL team in Alabama and make it basically the Crimson Tide Post College Edition. Bama has tons of 'good but not NFL good' talent sitting around ages 22-40
Or cast a wider net and have it based on a Conference. Big 10 Senior Tour Team or some bullshit.

I think the talent wise, is what the XFL best chances of having a good product. If by making teams based off of this. 81% of the AAF rosters are guys who where at one point or another NFL players in some way while some of the games where pretty good and entertaining, other not so much and you could see what teams had good talent and others not so much. I honestly think the XFL best chance if making teams based of these kinds of players to have good football on the field. Now as for the team all from the same college in a pro setting, that unlikely. But seek out those kinds of players from all over would be the way. They want to find that next Kurt Warner like story, This is how you find them.

Nothing to do with anything but I still laugh my ass off at the time that Zorn was coaching the Redskins and he called and lined a swinging gate play on MNF but the other team of course called time out, so what does Zorn do after the timeout? He lines up the exact same play and it gets stuffed. lol

XFL made the official yesterday. I'm Still waiting to see what St. Louis is getting. While everyone locally wants former St. Louis Ram great and still has a ton of local connections in Isaac Bruce, me included because he the kind of guy St. Louis football fans would rally around the team. From reports the XFL didn't connect him, and honestly its a shame they didn't. You sell a lot more tickets I think with him, over anybody else really. They have to be really stupid if they hired lets say Jeff Fisher for that job.

Bob Stoops now works for Vince McMahon. That’s pretty wild. Vince first meeting Bob Stoops. Vince: Welcome to the WWE family Bob. When I heard the best coach in Texas Longhorns history was available I knew I had to sign you. Bob: But I didn't coach at Texas I coached at Okl... Vince(puts up his hand to signal hook em horns): Moooo! Bob: I quit.
