Ultimately he has to deliver football worth watching. Far as I know no players have been an announce or signed and the league is supposed to kick off next year. The players are not going to have near enough time to learn to play together and the football going to be shit just like last time. At this rate I don’t see it lasting three seasons. Vince is flushing his money down the shitter True. I've seen women's softball on ESPN and the college Spikeball championships as well as a Cornhole tournament on ESPN2. I'm sure they all did terribly in the ratings. You have to take advantage of the platform. The AAF proved people don't want to watch 3rd rate football, and the original XFL proved that just having big connections and a platform doesn't make a cash cow. The thing that would really be a bankable asset would be top notch football, and I just don't know that Vince is the guy who would know how to get that. He's a control freak, and he would need to delegate to other people marketing-wise and football minds who would not only make it a viable option for talented players, but good, innovative coaches. What they need to steer away from is NFL retread coaches. The NFL's mostly-conservative playcalling is not entertaining.

XFL 1.0 was put together in under a year. There behind the scenes prep work wasn't there. The AAF was also rushed and admitted done to only beat the XFL without having the capital legit in place. The XFL this time does have better TV deal and fans will have a better chance to find a game compared to the AAF. Players not being signed will be done by the end of Summer. If they train all fall to Feb. How is that not enough time?

As much as Vince want to make it out as XFL being completely separate from WWE, this deal with Fox (who just became business partners with WWE) and ESPN/ABC (who WWE has been on increasingly positive terms with the last 5 years) has lots to do with WWE. True. I've seen women's softball on ESPN and the college Spikeball championships as well as a Cornhole tournament on ESPN2. I'm sure they all did terribly in the ratings. If they train all fall to Feb. How is that not enough time? I'm not comparing the prep time in the two leagues. I'm saying the XFL has to find entertaining and talented players and produce good football. Like Rutgers. Rutgers has tons of time and resources and puts together awful football every year. NFL Europe ran forever and always operated at a loss and never really produced great football. Outside of the CFL who has found their niche up north, the USFL was the only secondary league who ever gained any ground. They actually got stars and other NFL caliber talent, and they still only lasted 3 seasons. This is a good deal for Vince in that it cuts out a cost while giving him good platforms. But he still has a serious uphill battle in trying to get the talent, the football, and the local fanbases to get lift on this league. If he takes care of those things, the ratings and money will come. But those 3 are tough things to crack.

The one thing to keep in mind with the AAF and there ratings is when the hype was there, the football was awful. It's been said a bunch but the teams were nowhere near ready to play that first month of the season and it showed. By the time the football ended up being decent the interest was gone.
As I've said in the past I fully expect the XFL to only be around short term but there is interest in football in the spring especially on weekends when there is nothing on TV. But the product (or more so the offense) has to be enough to keep casual fans watchibg

If he takes care of those things, the ratings and money will come. But those 3 are tough things to crack. This kind of TV deal can help in the talent pool, because a lot of players want to have the exposure and be able to play. Now if your a guy who had the choose to play every week on the platform the XFL has which is way better that the AAF has may I add or to be on the NFL practice and have a very slim chance of ever seeing the NFL main roster. More skilled players may want to go there. NFL caliber talent as well, there is a good amount of NFL veteran currently without deal, they need to try for them. The reason why the are doing the draft and late summer is so anybody who gets cuts from the NFL during camps could be in the talent pool. If they draft and by Oct the teams get together and practice and runs plays. Do that for 2 months before Jan they have there league "training camp" as they say, which I hope that more a pre season like deal. That should get a hopefully good start. I've talked about this in other places.

Alright, all the coaches have been hired. Now let's get the names, the logos, and colors of each team.
I need to figure out if I'm gonna stay with the trend and support another Dallas football team, or go with the Washington team, since my sister and brother-in-law live close to DC.

I still don't understand the need for year round football, especially in the spring.
You got baseball starting up, NHL and NBA playoffs about to start, the NFL Draft, the Kentucky Derby, Preakness, and Belmont, and sometimes some good boxing and UFC fights.
Do people really need some half assed football to watch? This is going to fail again. Maybe not as bad as the first time, but it won't last.

NFL ratings and TNF ratings are going down, the NFL is as oversaturated as ever. The AAF ratings and interest (or lack thereof) seems to indicate that there isn't as much of a demand for more football as there was in the days of USFL or even the first incarnation of the XFL. There's been more expressed frustration with the NFL than there has been in my lifetime that I can remember. Which results more in people being less interested in pro football as a whole, rather than them badly wanting an alternative. Much like when WCW died; many looked for an alternative, but many also just stopped watching wrestling altogether.

The XFL has failed before, the AAF couldn't finish a season, and everybody else who has tried has failed. I watch the NFL, the best of the best. But even I am one who has lost a ton of interest. I usually just catch the highlights and scores. Year round football isn't going to work with scrubs on the field.
