One of the reasons cited for Spike souring on TNA is that when they signed their last Spike deal, Bischoff did the negotiations and promised all kinds of growth in the viewerbase, and that never materialized. On Destination America, TNA got higher ratings than anything else, but not high enough to attract interested advertisers due to a problem wrestling has always had with selling ads, but DA also underperformed in those regards and their slapdash attempt to save ratings was to trim reruns and side programming to try and concentrate viewership onto one time block. This is utter madness.

Ratings matters to sponsors. They know most people who don't watch it live just skip the ads. Although if I remember right Impact gets no money from sponsors and it all goes to Pop, which means that Pop cares about ratings. Which means that Josh should care about the ratings since if Pop ain't happy there won't be a f***ing show soon. It’s a bartering deal like the territories used to have with the local stations, impact and pop share whatever ad rate they get. This according to the Corgan lawsuit. The problem is that advertisers hate wrestling. If wwe has problems attracting advertisers imagine what bottom of the barrel stuff impact gets. Sponsors are one of the most important things for a wrestling company to grow and survive. Impact had the highest ratings out of everything on Destination America, but still couldn't get sponsors to go for it, and that was a channel that mainly has ghost and Bigfoot hunting shows. Impact is in a really bad spot right now. They can't afford to go live every week, so spoilers come out which will stop people from watching it when it airs, and due to horribly managed years, most people don't give a f*** about Impact so they don't even DVR it. Edit: Sponsors are so important to wrestling that the last time WWE actually backed down from a controversy is when Snickers said they would drop them if they kept the Women's battle royal as the Fabulous Moolah memorial battle royal. Basically my 2 long paragraphs means ratings = sponsors. Sponsors = money. No ratings means no sponsers, no sponsors means no money, no money means no company, no company means no buckets of cash Joshua.
