Bit off topic but for those who care, apparently Across The Nation which we all know and love as the RAW theme from 2002-2006 was originally written to be used as a new entrance theme for Test. There’s versions of it out there leaked from the early release where there’s weird ‘Test! Test! Test!’ chants dubbed in towards the end of the song. Wow I've never heard of this.

To add to the Motley Crue bodyguard bit, and to go a bit more with Mozenrath's "pass the Test to get to his charge" bit. I think it was more a the "rats" had to get through him to get backstage to hump the rock stars. I like the notion that Crue needed a screening for groupies, as opposed to just banging them all.

He used to test microphones for Motley Crue. “Test test test” It was a rib. When Mick Jagger and Keith Richards were on the Simpsons, Mick has line “Homer, we really just need you to tap the mic’s and say Test. Test.” Dan Castellena improvised the line “Can’t you do it?!” Mick apparently laughed his ass off and the producers said it was obvious no one dared say that to Mick before.

I had misread this as believing a specific "Test Test this is a Test" before Across the Nation began existed.

That could be "Test Test Test" or a million other things. I'm not seeing anything that says Across the Nation was made for Andrew Martin.

The name came because the office saw the potential in him because of his look but were very concerned at his inexperience, they saw him as a gamble.
Unfortunately for Test, Vince Russo told Triple H and Shawn that Andrew Martin was way better than Kevin Nash and that he was gonna put him in DX. Trips and HBK talked to Martin and found out that he had been in wrestling for just a month and was just barely out of training. That sealed the deal for him and he was never able to live the hype Russo put on him.
He started as a bodyguard as a nod to Nash and to hide his inexperience but instead of letting Test grow and develop, Russo instead wanting to prove Trips and Shawn wrong, decided to push and created the Test and Stephanie wedding saga but in typical Russo fashion, he didn’t have an ending in mind, and a short time later, Russo left for WCW.
Vince getting disappointed by Test and hating the wedding angle, soon demoted Test and his career never recovered. Some years later there was another megapush for Test in the Unamericans team but he and Christian didn’t want to cut their hair to have a military style haircut as Lance Storm, they also hated getting that heat.
