The Patriots are a garbage road team this year, which is a problem in the AFC title game if it's on the road but they'll probably get there. A part of me does want to see Lamar Jackson just do a tap dance all over the Pats in the playoffs, though I dunno since the Ravens look more or less slotted as the 4 right now. Maybe a 2nd round game? Frankly I think the Ravens are the best team in the AFC right now. They've really been good for the most part this year but did stupid stuff like missing extra points against the Saints. In fact how about Saints/Ravens II in the Super Bowl? A great offense vs. defense match up and the Jackson aspect makes it different than the first game.
Would Seattle still be a playoff team if you replaced Russell Wilson with, say, Ryan Tannehill?
First off, Tannehill sucks.
Second, Russell Wilson is a good quarterback. He is not the problem in Seattle, or even one of the problems in that team. They basically need to rebuild their defense, which IS possible. Perhaps not to quite the level of the glory years with Richard Sherman and Kam Chancellor and them, but they can do it with smart drafting (and maybe also retooling the defensive coaching staff) and without breaking the salary cap bank.
The NFL must be doing cartwheels over how the final week of the season is setting up.
- Of the 16 games, only five (Miami at Buffalo, Detroit at Green Bay, Carolina at New Orleans, Dallas at New York Giants, Atlanta at Tampa Bay) have no playoff implications.
- The only seeds that are locked in heading into week 17 is the top spot in the NFC (New Orleans) and the four seed (Dallas). Everyone else in the NFC and 1 through 6 in the AFC, is still up for grabs and can be decided next Sunday.
- There's a winner-take-all game on primetime television.
I was in a Pittsburgh bar yesterday, rocking a Drew Brees jersey, and I was bitching about this call more than just about anyone.
I hate seeing shit like this significantly impact games, regardless of who I'm rooting for.
"Twelve can be found in 187 places in God's word. Revelation alone has 22 occurrences of the number. The meaning of 12, which is considered a perfect number, is that it symbolizes God's power and authority, as well as serving as a perfect governmental foundation."
