I might suggest that the very first Rumble (in 1988) would be a very good choice. Never on pay-per-view but taped for VHS release, it has some decent pacing and gets some unbelievably strong live crowd reactions.

The one everyone hates, 2014? Just for your family to see what an entire crowd turning on a show is like. 2014 is actually a fairly solid Rumble until they lose the crowd at #30. 2015 is the one that becomes a proper wreck for most of it.

2010 is great. Punks in ring promos after each elimination, Beth Phoenix eliminating Khali, HBK screwing over HHH as he was desperate to face the then champion Taker and his despair once thrown out, Miz/MVP carried on their feud in the match, Edge's shock return and tossing Jericho who had mocked his injury months before, the seeds for the Cena/Batista program being sown there and a winner we didn't even know was in the match. So many stories told.

I'd actually go with last years. One of the better booked rumbles in recent history. Not a lot of wasted spots

The 2007 Rumble was the first wrestling match I'd watched in close to a decade, and got me back into following WWE again, so I'd definitely rank it up there.

2001 and 2003 are two of my absolute favorite rumbles. 2002 was awful after Taker beats the living hell out of Maven, it becomes a jobber fest until Stone Cold comes out and the ring never really fills up.

2001 and 2007 would be the first two on the list if you are excluding the 90s. (If you weren’t then clearly 92 would be as well)

2005, clearly. Every non-fan needs to see Vince tear his quads.

Definitely 2002. I think that's the only Rumble from the 2000's that I've ever watched multiple times.
Showed it to an old girlfriend too and she was pretty riveted despite not knowing who most of them were.

I know you said non-'90s, but I just can't imagine even a non-fan not getting a kick out of Heenan's performance at the 1992 Rumble. I agree it wouldn't be fair to Flair to rule out 92.
