It's the wildest & cardest week of the NFL year! The postseason playoffs start this weekend with the 'not as great 8' of the best 12 teams still alive to win the Championship, playing in hopes to get to the Big Super Bowl Game.
Saturday, January 5, 4:35 PM #6 Indianapolis Colts at #3 Houston Texans on ESPN
Saturday, January 5, 8:15 PM #5 Seattle Seahawks at #4 Dallas Cowboys on FOX
Sunday, January 6, 1:05 PM #5 Los Angeles Chargers at #4 Baltimore Ravens on CBS
Sunday, January 6, 4:40 PM #6 Philadelphia Eagles at #3 Chicago Bears on NBC

Cowboys are going to lose. Their weaknesses on defense play right into the strength of Seattle.
Colts and Texans feel like a coin flip
Chargers SHOULD win... and win big. But they are the Chargers so would anybody be surprised if they laid an egg when it mattered?
The Bears really are something special this year, but the Eagles man... the Eagles.

Colts over Texans. Eagles over Bears (bad move to let them in if you're Chicago). Cowboys over Seahawks. Ravens over Chargers (why are so many people on the Chargers?).

Colts over Houston. Colts are a super-hot team that stops the run. Houston is rolling into the playoffs with some deficiencies. Close game with the more experienced QB going over.
Ravens over Chargers. Everything should be out there for the Chargers to win this game. Seen Lamar Jackson. Correct the mistakes they made two weeks ago. Healthier than they’ve been heading to this matchup. So of course they’ll lose to Baltimore again. Rivers in the playoffs is not to be trusted.
Seahawks over Cowboys. Bet on the Cowboys to do something exceedingly stupid. Like not give Zeke the ball 25+ time
Eagles over Bears. There’s a few parallels that this Bears team can draw from their 2001 team. Minus the abject bums at the QB position (Shane Matthews and the dreaded Jim Miller if you need em.). But if the Bears pass rush is neutralized at any point in this game, they’re as good as dead. Young QB in his first playoff home game vs a battle tested opponent is a recipe for disaster.

Anyway, here are my predictions for the first weekend of playoff football:
- Houston 20, Indianapolis 17: Indianapolis comes into the playoffs riding a four-game winning streak, but there appears to be some smoke-and-mirrors to it. They beat these Texans on the road and shut out the Cowboys, but they also beat the woeful Giants by one point and went deep into the fourth quarter against the Blaine Gabbert-led Titans. This is going to be a tight game, but because Houston has home-field advantage, I give them the slight edge. If this game were played in Indianapolis, I'd probably pick the Colts to win.
- Seattle 23, Dallas 17: This will be an old-fashioned grind, a three-yards-and-a-cloud-of-dust throwback. Seattle has done a good job emerging from a potential downturn in the franchise's success and they appear to have a strong core for the next generation. Dallas, meanwhile, keeps winning in ways I don't expect them to. Ultimately, though, I'll take Russell Wilson versus the Cowboys defense over Dak Prescott against Seattle's D.
- Los Angeles Chargers 27, Baltimore 17: The Chargers may have the most well-rounded team in the league. As good as Baltimore's defense is, I could see Philip Rivers and the Chargers' weapons figuring it out. I don't know if rookie Lamar Jackson and the Ravens' lackluster skill position players could figure out Los Angeles' stout defense.
- Chicago 23, Philadelphia 21: If this game is won by the Eagles, it won't be because Nick Foles turned into a playoff hero. It'll be because the Eagles' offensive line held Khalil Mack, Akiem Hicks, and the Bears' front seven in check. But I think Chicago's defense has the talent to stop Philadelphia and the Bears offense will do just enough to put points on the board.

My picks:
Colts over Texans. The Colts are just a more well-rounded team. The Texans have a great defense, but their offense is just Watson and Hopkins. Which, sure, if you are going to only have an offense of two players, those are a good two to pick, but it would also be nice to have, say, an offensive line.
Seahawks over Cowboys. Fun little fact about the Cowboys: They aren't all that good. They are an ok team that has been the beneficiary of a weak division, but they are basically the NFC's version of the Titans - a team that depends on its defense not giving up points (the Titans were third in points allowed, the Cowboys were sixth), with an offense with a spotty QB that depends on its run game to be successful. The Seahawks, on the other hand, have one of the best QBs in the league.
Ravens over Chargers. The Ravens 1970s-ass offense is kryptonite to the Chargers defense, and the league f***ed over the Chargers by putting this game at what is to them 10 AM. So, they are facing an offense uniquely designed to beat them, at a time when they will be half-asleep.
Bears over Eagles. The Bears are 9-1 in their last ten games, and have won eight straight games that Trubisky has started (the one loss in their last ten was against the Giants in OT, in which Chase Daniel was the Bears QB). Their four losses have been by a combined 14 points. Trubisky has been much more efficient the past few weeks, and so long as he avoids turning the ball over, and the defense does not have issues tackling, the Bears should be able to win easily enough.

At least the Colts winning would leave some intrigue. The Colts have tormented KC so many times over the years that the storyline writes itself. Houston winning would be like if you had a Choose Your Own Adventure book where you die no matter what. The Texans have zero shot at NE next week so just lose tomorrow and be done with it. Besides, the Chargers or Ravens would be a very interesting match up for the Pats, more so than the Texans.

New England fans are crossing their fingers for Houston to win.
The Ravens don't seem to be afraid of Foxboro and the Chargers are an infinitely better road team- if they can win at Arrowhead/Heinz Field, they can win anywhere.
Houston is flawed as hell, New England's track record vs. the Texans is comical (BAL has played NE tough and they have only played the Chargers twice at Foxboro this decade, so the Pats have little familiarity with the Bolts).
OTOH, the Pats have only lost once ever to Houston and somehow the schedule makers seemingly never make N.E. go to Houston.

The Seahawks, on the other hand, have one of the best QBs in the league. Seattle's division isn't exactly that much better- Cards/49ers, lost twice to the Rams.

Colts VS Texans Two teams that started like crap but have turned it around and have become hot when you want to be hot. I think this will be the best game of the weekend and I think it's going to come down to Watson's lack of playoff experience VS Andrew Luck who's been playing out of his mind as of late. I think the Colts are the hotter team and they have a more experience group of players in the playoffs. I could see this game going to OT but I think the Colts are a team that's got potential to make a Cinderella run.
I got Colts.
Seahawks VS Cowboys Both have a killer running game so I think it's going to go down to who can pass the ball better. I'll take Wilson over Dak anyday and I think that will be the difference maker. Cowboys had a somewhat easy division and Seattle looks more like a workhorse team that gets it done in big games. It's going to come down to Russell Wilson to take the Seahawks to the next round and I think he gets it done.
Seattle over Dallas
Chargers VS Ravens I'll give LA this and I hate to admit this as a Chiefs fan, but they got a good team. With that being said, they got the bad draw when it came to the playoffs. Ravens beat them earlier in the year and the Ravens look like a better team then when they beat LA. They are getting how Lamar Jackson is working better and working him better in plays. If LA can't stop Jackson's run game, it's going to be a long day for the Chargers. I see this going one of two ways. Either Ravens shut LA down completely or it comes down to a last moment play leaving the Chargers coming up short.
Ravens beat the Chargers.
Eagles VS Bears Eagles have been a strange case. Once again Foles has been the hero for Philly and has sneaked them into the postseason. However the Bears I could see being a team in the Super Bowl with that defense and an offense that's at least good enough to get wins. I think a hurt Foles comes up short and I think the Eagles get shut down by the Bears defense. I don't think weather will be much of a factor as everyone says it is but I just don't see the Eagles as a team that can make a deep run, the Bears however are a different story.
Bears over Eagles.
Can't wait to come on Sunday night and be totally wrong about everything.
