#196 - Kingsman: The Secret Service
I liked this so much more than I expected to. It was a blast. So much action, violence, and a coolness that is almost unmatched. I loved this. [****½]

189. Maniac (1980). This was an odd one. Most of it was painfully slow but then BOOM (sometimes literally) something awesome would happen. That “awesome” was divided between the gory killings and the maniacs monologues. At first I was a little disappointed that they gave the identity of the killer away right at the beginning of the movie and was wondering what the point would be but once it started divulging into his twisted mind it was a nice angle. No story of a detective trying to crack the case or a particular girl who has all her friends dying around her; just a trip into a maniacs mind. It was good. The ending is the stuff of nightmares.

#197 - Hairspray
While it struggles to balance the heavy segregation plot with everything else, this remains one of the best musicals I can recall. Lots of fun music, solid acting, and just a good time. [****]

190. The Texas Chain Saw Massacre 2. This is a f***ing embarrassment. A travesty. At least all the Nightmare on Elm Street movies sucked (even the first) so I didn’t care that the quality diminished and fluctuated as they went on. But this followed a masterpiece and it was just as silly, stupid movie. Watching it made me sad. At least the gore was okay. And Bill Moseley was fantastic. Once he shows up the movie is WAY better. Ton the point where I enjoyed it. But it still pales in comparison to the original. It was nice to hear “dog will hunt”, that’s a quote in a Primus song that I’ve been listening to for years. Also, “it’s the Devils playground” was sampled by a Canadian band called Shallow, North Dakota. So it was cool to hear that too. My life came full circle watching this.

79. Death Race 2000 - Okay, so I am starting a Death Race marathon, but I started with this and another one I am about to mention. Anyway, before the first time I saw it, I had heard about its cult status with it being a B-movie, as well as David Carradine and Sylvester Stallone being in it. Anyway, it was a very entertaining flick, especially with the use of effects that a movie of that kind of budget can afford. Plus, Stallone was good in his role as one of the villains, something that is rare when seeing Sly in a movie.
80. Death Race 2050 - Part 2 of my Death Race marathon. This was my third time watching it and I have to say that I have had a lot of fun watching this. Sure, it's very low-budget, especially when looking at the green screen effects and the CGI. However, one of the best parts of the film was Malcolm McDowell hamming it up in his role as the main villain. I also must add that it was interesting that it was kind of self-aware parody, especially with it satirizing how America would become if it was taken over by corporations.
I will continue with my Death Race marathon, though I plan to do it like this, like I have done it multiple times, except this time I am including the latest one: 2, 3, 1, and 4. Of course, I could watch "Death Race: Beyond Anarchy" as it feels like it's separate from the other three, but chronologically, it took place after the first film.
I have a question. If someone were to watch a movie that someone listed here again, should that person skip listing it on this thread and wait until he/she watches a movie that the person hasn't listed?

I’m debating if I should unlist all of my repeat viewings. But the thread title is “Track the movies you watched (2019)”

But the thread title is “Track the movies you watched (2019)” True, but I meant repeat viewings within the same year, because the year is in the thread title. I will note that a lot of what I had listed were movies that I had watched before, but I listed them as part of the list for THIS year. Anyway, I'll do what I think I should do, and if I watch a movie that was on my list again, I'll just skip that repeat viewing for the list.

#198 - Captain Marvel
There are clear flaws in the movie, but the good heavily outweighs the bad. Larson is strong, while the supporting cast of characters is among the best we’ve seen in the MCU to this point. Great visuals and a fun final two-thirds makes for one hell of a ride that will leave you satisfied. [****]

191. Godzilla. Let’s look past the fact that Godzilla looked so stupid in this movie. There’s so much else that makes it suck. Bad writing. Boring as f***. Schlocky garbage plots. But for me it all boils down to Matthew Broderick being such a f***ing dweeb. That voice. Marrying Sarah Jessica Parker. What a f***ing loser. I liked this because Harry Shearer was in it and anytime he spoke I heard the Simpsons. Hank Azaria was in it too but his natural voice sounds nothing like any of the characters he voices except he sounds a bit like Moe Szyslak. f***, Godzilla is the least of this garbages problem. The gum sequence. Good God.

81. Death Race 2 - Now you're probably wondering why I started my second round of my Death Race marathon with this. Well, to answer your question, it's really the first of two prequels to the Statham film. Anyway, I enjoy this film, especially when you're familiar with Roel Reine's directorial style, especially after having seen his WWE Studios films like The Marine 2, 12 Rounds 2, and The Condemned 2 (I may revisit that one in the near future; I can't get over Orton hiding in the dirt and appearing completely clean after that). Just know that the races don't start until an hour into the film as it's supposed to set up how Death Race came about. It's fun for what it is.
82. Death Race 3: Inferno - Now this one was a direct sequel to Death Race 2, so if you watch these back to back, it makes sense. It had a decent premise with the different locale and Dougray Scott was entertaining as the villain. However, the ending was rather confusing. It made me wonder if Universal were initially going to make a follow-up, but it didn't happen as some of it was to set up the first film. It was ridiculous with a lot of its plot holes, but I guess I am easy to please and still enjoy this film.
83. Death Race: Beyond Anarchy - Okay, so I didn't go with my original plan to do all four films chronologically, but I have had an itch to watch this for a few weeks, so I decided to go ahead and watch it. Really, it's not that necessary to watch the previous three films as though it takes place after the first, this film went in a different direction as a lot of the theme was based on concepts from Escape From New York and also Mad Max. Not to mention that Frankenstein is the villain this time. So this was entertaining for its theme and setting, as well as fight sequences. The race is actually the big climax this time, so there aren't other races, except for a bit at the start of the film. If you enjoy brutal violence, T&A, and fast cars, then this film is for you.
I will watch the first film really soon.

#199 - Long Lost
There’s fine acting and an interesting premise here. It just features shallow characters and a twist that ending that makes everything worse. [*½]
