I just randomly thought this would be interesting to dig up. officialfan.proboards.com/thread/331432/move-monday-nights-march-updateIt's interesting to note just how much positivity there was for the move (and there were a few threads around the time I saw asking why TNA weren't moving to Mondays yet) compared to what a disaster that actually wound up being. If only because I freaking called it.

“After being introduced by Mike Tenay and making the announcement, Carter commented that she and Hulk Hogan said in October 2009 that they were going to "turn wrestling upside down" and they have done that. Carter also commented that Hogan indeed brought the "rocket fuel" that TNA needed to go to the next level”
How did that next level worked out for you dumbass?
That first Monday got you a million new viewers, and what did they saw?
A giant red cage that made it difficult for the camera to shoot the action. Out of shape and old Val Venis defeating Christopher Daniels. The Nasty Boys. Ancient and fat Scott Hall with Sean Waltman looking like a corpse. Bubba the Love Sponge.
Wonder why that new million viewers never returned?

Man, looking through that thread it is amazing the number of people who thought this was a good idea and were excited by it. I can't believe some people actually thought this would help them start doing regular 1.2's and 1.3's.

I was hoping it would work. I thought I posted to that effect but couldn't find anything.
I was very, very wrong to expect anything good from this. But I had hope.

The most shocking thing to me is that this happened almost 9 YEARS ago. That is surreal to me. Think about everything that has happened in those 9 years. Impact has gone through ownership and name and network changes. WWE has launched the WWE Network and moved off PPV, launched 2 development brands. TNA mainstays like AJ and Joe have left Impact and found success in WWE. Time moves fast in pro wrestling.

When they couldn't beat a dying ECW/NXT on a consistent basis.... there was no hope of them doing anything to Raw. edit: also a lot of people missing the big picture that when Raw went live on the first live show... Impact's viewership dropped. The unopposed hour is what got them a good rating.

It really killed it when people realized that they were rerunning it on Thursday night. Why have to choose between Impact and Raw on Mondays when you could just watch Raw on Mondays and then watch Impact on Thursdays; like before.

There was a lot of positivity but I ALWAYS knew this would end badly.

Worth remembering that Homicide was told that he didn't need to practice climbing out of the cage by Impact management because they assured him it was possible, and that he was working injured at the time (hernia).

Boy, am I glad I didn't weigh in on that thread.
Although I believe my attitude at the time was cautiously optimistic, but convinced that Hogan would Hogan it up. And I turned out to be right.

I had watched evvery episode from the first one on Spike. When Daniels jobbed to Val Venis, I walked away. It was the moment I went from being a TNA diehard, to an occasional watcher.
