Was Petey Williams the only guy to pin people with this?

I like the move as an occasional finisher, but kicking out immediately reminds me of the Road Warriors no selling piledrivers back in the 80s-which even as a young guy I hated. The last piledriver in WWE that I remember was Cena/Punk on Raw. Did I miss any? Undertaker’s Tombstone? If you want to count the Mae Young Classic, I believe Toni Storm used it a few times there.

What's the Destroyer? Post the gif. I suppose I should’ve said Canadian Destroyer (flipping piledriver). I figure it’s gone beyond a single nationality at this point. Wow that was f***ing dog shit

Someone post that gif of Virgil doing one. See, as shitty as it is as a Destroyer, I can buy it as Virgil tries to piledrive the guy, the guy tries to counter into a backdrop or Alabama Slam, but Virgil hangs on and uses his momentum to counter the counter.

Once I saw the Canadian Destroyer done in conjunction with Joey Ryan’s dick flip, the move was killed dead for me.

Count me in as one who is cool with the Doomsday Destroyer as the execution makes more sense than the normal version. The only person who ever made the destroyer not look completely dumb was Petey Williams, and even then it was still pretty dumb. What's the Destroyer? Post the gif. I suppose I should’ve said Canadian Destroyer (flipping piledriver). I figure it’s gone beyond a single nationality at this point. WWE has adopted all the worst traits of the indies. First Seth's Superplex-Falcon Arrow nearfall now this. We're just missing that ROH Davey Richards bit with the superplex no-sold into a suplex over the ropes and we've got the full set.

Why is this move allowed but an old fashioned piledriver isn’t? There's not going to be many playground attempts at the Destroyer.

The OP doesn't bother me in the slightest. Especially the way Riddle goes totally limp after that knee strike.

Was Petey Williams the only guy to pin people with this? Drago's beaten people with it, too. Pentagon Jr. uses variations of it, but I think he usually wins with a package piledriver instead.

See these spots don’t bother me that much.
I see people giving that Davey/Edwards superplex spit a ton of shit but why? Why is that move “too unrealistic” and yet the Irish Whip is accepted? Lol. It’s wrestling. We all know it’s fake. The Canadian Destroyer would be a tough move to take considering you have to backflip with some dude hooked on your shoulders. I can applaud that.
Don’t get me wrong, SOME no sells bother me... but if someone’s finisher was say... a Canadian Destroyer off the top rope. I wouldn’t be saying “Oh that’s too far fetched.” I would just enjoy the visual of it and applaud whoever it is taking it.

I am still kind've a fan of the Canadian Destroyer but seeing everyone and their dog doing it kinda killed it for me a bit. If it somehow ends up on actual WWE television I'd expect it as a blue moon finish for someone not their normal one. Like how a standard piledriver pretty much only happens at Mania. Rey did one on Smackdown

Thing is, I don’t actually mind the Canadian Destoryer itself. My problem lies with how overused it’s become. You see somebody hit it, that should be it. End of match. When I see it getting used multiple times in a match, off the top, on the apron, through a table, and we’ve still got a litany of spots to go through.....nah, that’s where I’m done. I just see how WWE has latched onto apron spots and I just don’t want to see this become something that gets overused and is just another spot.

I used to love the move, mostly because the only person I had seen doing it pulled it off with flourish and made it LOOK good (of course talking about Petey Williams here). Over the course of the last decade, I've seen so many bastardized versions and oversold/undersold crap results that it's left a bad impression on me to the point that I never want to see it again.

The Canadian Destroyer is a level of stupid pro wrestling that loops back around into utter f***ing glory so I'm all for it. I want a segment where two dudes just give each other back and forth Canadian Destroyers like the extended chop exchange in a super stiff New Japan match. How about this? Kota Ibushi vs. Yoshihiko

Kota Ibushi vs. Yoshihiko This is perfect and almost there, but I need it to go harder than this. Complete with dude getting back up, no-selling it, hitting one on each other again then popping to their feet. Lots of fighting spirits yells. The crowd doing yay/boo back and forth as they hit them. Stage it like the most serious and brutal thing in the world when it's just f***ing Canadian Destroyers.

Only problem for me was, Riddle did a shitty job of the "don't sell temporarily because fighting spirit" thing. To pull that off, you gotta be totally glassy-eyed and on autopilot the whole time. It's also possible that the destroyer might be too confusing a move to use for that spot, because it actually isn't super clear at first which guy was supposed to have taken the impact unless the victim super-sells.
(also his character doesn't strike me as one that would have a lot of fighting spirit but something tells me that's going to be low on the list of things that bug me about his character in the coming years)
