You know Hollywood you are looking for a good story, look no further than the real life story of the 1980's pop / punk all girl band the Go-Go's. If they made a movie about them, I go see it. If it is a TV or a Netflix movie, I will watch it.
Now question is, who would you cast to play them. A story about raise to fame, the destruction, and redemption, than destruction, and redemption of this group. And the fact they are all still alive is a miracle and a happy ending in itself. With all the drugs they did, they did everything to kill themselves.
You don't even have to be a fan of their music, to enjoy their story.

Part of me would want said movie to be titled "Can You Hear Them?" (with or without the question mark at the end, that's fine.)

I don't really know anything at all about the band members, but I do know that as a teenager I loved 'Head Over Heels' so much that I borrowed the Talk Show CD from my aunt and didn't give it back to her for about two years after I finally got around to burning the song to my own CD.

The only way to screw up a movie about them is involve Jon Chu, as long as you keep him away, I think we will be fine.
What I would include in the story, is their decline as other acts rose to fame. In 1982 they were the biggest female musical act in the world, (I have seen some old MTV tapes from that year and they were promooted heavily) and by 1984, the rise of Cyndi Lauper and Madonna, the Go-Go's were yesterday's news, even though personnel I thought Talk Show was better than Vacation. In a way that mirror what happened to the Spice Girls a decade and half later, with Brittany and Christina being their Lauper and Madonna.

They did a VH-1 Behind The Music which pretty much lays out the story, so... I don't know why we really need a movie.

I am all for this if you include scenes of the senseless gang war between them and the Bangles.

In the case of the Spice Girls, I'd say it was more about Geri leaving, but their last album was more about them trying to follow a trend instead of being themselves, which is usually never good. As far as casting, I don't keep up with any of today's actresses, but I do watch Disney a lot, so I would get Bridgit Mendler to play Charlotte, Debby Ryan to play Belinda, and I'll have to get back to you on the others

Funny you mention Debby Ryan, did you know she did a cover of "We Got The Beat" or was it our "Lips Our Sealed", one of those songs at least. I think whoever plays Jane, has the best role in the movie and best material to be nominated for awards.

Yea, I can see that-I wasn't sure what happened exactly because they were still doing great with Talk Show and I forgot about Debby doing one of their songs!
