Dreamer actually pitched to have Raven pin him at Wrestlepalooza 97. The audience knew that Raven was leaving to wcw so they pretty much knew that he was gonna lose, that would’ve been a cooler moment instead of what we got. Now when Raven returned, Dreamer pitches to reignite the feud but with a new dynamic, Raven would be the face and Dreamer would be the heel, unfortunately Heyman vetoed it. I’m calling bullshit on Heyman saying he had more ideas for Raven because when Raven returned he had awful programs. Raven himself admitted that he stopped caring and ecw was just a vacation until the wwe would hire him. On the other hand Tommy Dreamer’s ideas were better than what Heyman did with Raven in 99-2000. This. Maybe pre-'97, pre Justin Credible Is The Next Big Thing Heyman. After that? Not so much. Raven said that it happened because Heyman was burned out mentally and creatively, and that he should’ve taken a break and let someone else book.

Nor have I. Doesn't mean I don't buy him saying that in front of Raven to amuse himself. Wouldn't be the first time he buried a wrestler to their face, jokingly or otherwise. Raven said on his podcast that Vince asked the “who the f*** hired Raven” during a creative meeting and Michael Hayes told Raven later what happened. The point still stands. Possibly even more so.

He didn’t buried him jokingly, Vince was mad that Raven was hired, proof of this is that according to Raven, everytime he would try to pitch something to Vince he would brush him aside and would even get mad at times. Vince never wanted Raven back at the company, he was mad that he introduced Shane to hard partying.

I'm surprised they booked Raven in a match at Wrestlemania 17 with how much Vince seems to have hated him. That was probably the peak of his WWF/E career unfortunately.

According to Raven, in that match he accidentally crashed the golf cart, well he was told later that he almost hit the cables that would’ve killed the power to the building. Back to ecw. One of Raven’s final storylines was with Father James Mitchell, they were gonna parody a psychiatrist who conned the lead singer of The Beach Boys a lot of money. That was Heyman’s genius ideas for Raven.
