Because coming off one movie that bombed, why not an immediate twofer, huh?
The amount of money Hollywood just wastes never ceases to me amaze me.

It's actually an animated version of Next Mutation.
or a live action version of Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
whichever you hate worse.

Sweet Jesus, I imagine Zack Snyder and Michael Bay collaborating would be the real-life equivalent of the Gatekeeper meeting the Keymaster.

Its not like it can get much worse than the last one I thought general opinion of the last one was largely positive. It had a few issues - the general design of the turtles themselves, the reimagining of Casey Jones, the cliched portal in the sky - but for the most part paid enough homages to the '80s cartoon to win people over.

Yeah, it wasn’t a great movie by any stretch but it was significantly better then the first Bay one. It was at least fun

That being said, my opinion on this- I’ll see it. I love TMNT and love them on the big screen. They knocked it out of the park with the 1990 flick. Probably will never be topped. We have already had the perfect Turtles movie.

We have already had the perfect Turtles movie. Yeah, it absolutely did bomb. It was made on a budget of $135 million and only brought in $245.6 million; given movies tend to have to bring in at least twice their budget to be a success, it flopped. Even the producers have said, "It just didn't find an audience." That's also under half of what the 2014 movie made, at $493 million, despite a higher budget. It bombed.

We have already had the perfect Turtles movie. I wouldn’t say the last one did well. It only did like $85 mil in North America with a $130 mil budget. It finished at around $250 mil worldwide which is not a strong success with the smaller overseas cut of ticket sales. Plus, the first one did like $500 mil worldwide, so the sequel was definitely considered a disappointment. Which, I’d 100% blame the quality of the first one for the disappointing performance of Out of the Shadows

I still think the 1990 movie is the best TMNT movie ew've gotten so far. Jim Henson's Creature Shop did a fantastic job on the costumes and the radio-controlled animatronics.

I thought it did a little better than that, for some reason I was thinking it made around 150 mil domestically.. Still, with Blu-ray/DVD/Streaming rights/tv rights it seemed like they probably made a couple bucks off of it. But, Turtles has proven to be an extremely resilient franchise, so I don’t think a reboot is throwing money away or even a bad idea.

It wasn't just the Henson puppets, although those were great. It was also just really well written and directed, and the human leads were superb. Casey Jones especially was fantastic.

It has heart, fun action, most of the jokes work, and it’s tonally a great blend of the hit cartoon and the Mirage comics.

If you can keep the budget under control, TMNT is always a decent gamble. Might not set the world on fire, but unlikely to lose your shirt. And I stand by it that so many people were burned by the 2014 movie, that they didn’t even give OotS a chance.

The first was terrible, and the second at least embraced the core concept a little bit more re: nostalgia for the old cartoons. The Turtles movies were just bogged down too much by the weird as designs and Michael Bay's sense of what could generously be called humor.

I hated the first GI Joe Movie so much I’ve still never even seen the second one.
