It was almost like the GI Joe movies for me. The first was terrible, and the second at least embraced the core concept a little bit more re: nostalgia for the old cartoons. The Turtles movies were just bogged down too much by the weird as designs and Michael Bay's sense of what could generously be called humor. Yeah, I can vouch. I hated the first GI Joe Movie so much I’ve still never even seen the second one. It is worth checking out. It is pretty much a reboot itself. They kill off most of the annoying characters in the first five minutes, to be replaced with The Rock. The whole everyone being related thing is pretty much ignored. Cobra Commander wears his real armor. There is a massive ninja sword fight rappelling off the side of a mountain. Really this tells you everything you need to know about the movie taking a better direction over the first.

I honestly hated the "mountain ninja sword fight". Why are you stopping the plot of my cheesy sci-fi/military action movie dead cold for a pointless sword fight and some vague Asian mysticism? That's not just a problem I had with GI Joe: Retaliation, but basically sums up every issue I've ever had with the GI Joe franchise ever.

The second G.I. Joe was way better. Flint and Lady Jaye were played by atrocious actors, though.

So just re-watched the 90’s trilogy. One is still so good, but holy shit are 2 and 3 bad. Just started Out if the Shadows now, been a year or two since I watched this.

Just me or has the 03 version been shuffled off to obscurity? Only recall seeing one DVD out for it and it only had four episodes.

Shame too, that series was great Trying to collect that show on DVD is insane. They should release them in complete season sets but that probably will never happen due to rights issues.

"GI Joe: Retaliation"
Heenan : GI Joe - Retardation , starring the Bushwackers and Animal Steele !
Moonsoon : Will you stop ?!
(critics called Johnny Mnemonic for "Johnny Moronic" back in the day lmao)

So my re-watch of Out of the Shadows yesterday left me with 2 thoughts
1. That’s actually a more enjoyable movie then I remembered. Flawed, yes, but it really was like an episode of the 1987 cartoon brought to live action for better or worse. And let’s not kid ourselves, the 87 cartoon is flawed as f*** too
2. Actually disappointed they aren’t doing a 3rd. I wanna see overacting Madea doing a Neil Degrasse Tyson impression as fly Baxter Stockman
