Much like they did with early heel Undertaker, I love the shots of terrified children when Papa Shango walks down the aisle. There's an adorable little red-headed child in one of the episodes who totally sells it.

There's an adorable little red-headed child in one of the episodes who totally sells it. Yeah, that was great. Young kids were (understandably) terrified of The Undertaker and I can understand them being freaked out about Papa Shango too. It was smart of WWE to use the shots of the kids to get them both over as scary (hey, it worked!).

It's really next-level sad watching Kerry Von Erich on these episodes, knowing how much personal turmoil he was dealing with at the same time. He cuts promos on repurposing his life toward his family and God and it all feels like these vague allusions to how his life had unraveled up to that point.

The amazing origin story of ROCCO is well, something. Maybe all those 'Legion of Sissies' taunts got to them.

Went back and watched the Shango/Warrior angle again for the first time since it aired. I howled with laughter. I will say that The Undertaker was just so, so awesome. Even in that wacky Berserker feud there was the moment where Berserker knocked him over the top rope, he lands on his feet, and in one motion grabs Fuji by the throat and takes the urn. Even almost 27 years later I popped for that. His promos are also eerie and understated compared to everyone else acting like a lunatic, including his own manager.

WWF Superstars was MY LIFE every Saturday morning from 1992 through 1995. This alone is worth the $9.99 a month. I really hope they add more years to this and add Wrestling Challenge. Watching these with my dad and sister are some of my fondest mementos as a child. It feels like a lifetime ago, when life seemed much simpler.

If they would add the shows + Wrestling Challenge from when they built up to Summerslam 1993, I could watch the shows again that started my wrestling fandom back when I was 8.

I watched these superstars eps back when they aired and I wasn’t that big of a fan of them as a kid but going back now at my advanced age I appreciate them alot more.Plus at 42 minutes they fly by and I love the Mean Gene & Mooney segments.

Child me was never a fan of squash matches or Virgil so if I was gonna watch either I wanted Monsoon & Heenan calling it so I always preferred Wrestling Challenge. One thing I didn’t remember was that there was so much attempted murder on such a kiddie product I know Undertaker is a zombie but Berzeker tried to impale him with a sword,Bossman was almost beaten to death,Guys have been electrocuted,Warrior was cursed with head goo which can’t be good for ones health and all of this seemed normal to me as a youth.

Superstars tended to have the "bigger" main event matches vs. Challenge, even though in retrospect those main event matches were barely stuff you'd see on Raw or Smackdown anymore. Gorilla/Bobby were the sole highlight of Challenge; once Bobby left at the end of '93 I kinda abandoned that show almost completely (it was on 2nd in the Saturday afternoon rotation, so I just bailed at 1pm after Superstars and didn't feel like I missed much). WWF was a cartoon when I was a kid. This stuff just bounced right off me and was harmless. The mid '90s killed that cartoon vibe by going really far (plus the talent changes over time did a lot to alter the traditional vibe) and then it all got real and........WWF/E changed for the worse.

Consider SS Raw and WC Smackdown. If that makes sense. 1991-92 was the time period where the WWF was doing more extreme attacks, etc. Still cartoony, overexaggerated stuff, but it was cartoon intense for younger viewers. Don't get me started on 1991 which may have been even WORSE. Electrocution, suffocation by casket, snake bites, snakes being killed...

I am sure that Wrestling Challenge was awful I’ve never gone back and watched it but as a kid WWF during this time just wasn’t for me but I loved wrestling so if I was gonna watch I wanted me some Bobby and Gorilla. As a kid always getting it hammered in to me by my parents & siblings that wrestling was fake I was always baffled to why they would book the matches they did if they wanted people to watch these shows.During 92 I enjoyed WCW & even Global more than WWF.
