I want Ernie Hudson in it, but I want him playing his character from Congo instead. Captain Munroe Kelly! The great white hunter ("Though I happen to be black." (lights cigar)) Those ghosts better not touch his sesame seed cake.

I heard about 18 months ago that a new Ghostbusters cartoon was in development. Maybe if this movie does well enough we'll see that happen? In the meantime can they please release the complete run of Extreme Ghostbusters on DVD? That could be the leftover of the failed Ghostbuster Cinematic Universe that Sony was trying to push at the time. I remember when the reboot move was announced, there was rumor of a all Male version starting Channing Tatum and maybe Seth Rogan and a full length animated movie.

I assume the social media war will be far more interesting than the movie itself.

Leslie Jones was the prime target for coordinated racist and sexist attacks during the lead-up to the Ghostbusters reboot. Her personal website was hacked to reveal her personal information as well as memes comparing her to Harambe, the gorilla killed at an Ohio zoo. She 100% has the right to have this "What the f***" reaction to this new film, as it's essentially saying to her "Hey, remember the film that turned your life into a waking hell? LOL, we're making a 'real' reboot now!" This isn't Rob Zombie getting salty about his Halloween movies not being canon, this is someone who had her life ripped apart for a few months by insecure pieces of shit getting those things opened up. But considering the reaction to her reaction even here, the wonderfully tolerant messageboard, has been to dismiss her feelings and call her names, I'd imagine that's only going to be amplified on the Internet at large. I’m sorry, she got a really shitty break being in that last movie. Doesn’t make it right for her to attempt to start the same sort of movement against Jason Reitman and this movie. She’s making inflammatory, false statements to try and get people mad that this movie is being made. 2 wrongs don’t make a right EDIT: Like, we can’t even post the Tweets here due to her comparison between Reitman and a political figure. If that’s not intended to try and rile people up, I don’t know what is. She’s using her terrible experience as an excuse to attempt to start the same line in the sand attacks on this movie. She’s legit one step away from saying “If you support this movie, you hate women!!!” I like Leslie Jones and I get that she's likely pissed at Sony, she even has a right to be mad at Sony and how she was treated, how that cast was treated, was awful. But her committing the same sins as others with her movie is just not right. If she's going after Jason Reitman, that is REALLY not cool. He's innocent in this. Far as I know, he wasn't negative about the 2016 Ghostbusters film. He's the son of the original film's director and a damn good director in his own right. Going after him is just really wrong.

Yeah, really not seeing any fault in her getting upset. I also follow her on Twitter and haven't seen a single tweet from her about it, so maybe cooler heads prevailed and she deleted them? Or I'm not on Twitter nearly as much as my phone tells me I am

She's a hypocrite for whining about the new movie ignoring GB2016 when that movie in itself ignored GB and GB2.

I mean, that's why they're reboots- so the writers can start fresh without needing any in-universe references to the original film(s) in the storylines. Ghostbusters 2016 had plenty of off-hand references to Ghostbusters 1984 in it which is really all that was appropriate considering they're set in totally different continuities?

Character and Plot details for new Ghostbusters: www.joblo.com/horror-movies/news/character-plot-details-revealed-for-ghostbusters-3?fbclid=IwAR0qvkJlvqEXXgp3dVpEnsLzh6YUAEzoPpb2dgT_IbM-xU-S0QwSuygcweAAs we all know, director Ivan Reitman’s son Jason will be helming the upcoming GHOSTBUSTERS 3 (or whatever they're calling it) and the new movie will go back to the continuity of the first two films. And today we have some more details on just what we can expect to see when the movie lands in Summer 2020. None of this has been confirmed yet, but the info comes from trusted sources so I guess we'll eventually see what shakes out. First, Borys Kit of THR revealed over on Twitter that "The main characters will be 4 teens: 2 boys, 2 girls, per sources." And We Got This Covered laid out a few more details regarding the two central characters, a young boy and girl. The young girl will evidently "cross paths with the aforementioned boy at some point in the film and they quickly become friends." She’s 12 years old and "an insanely smart kid. However, she often has a hard time interpreting and expressing emotions and speaks with a flat delivery that makes her observations humorous.” Add to that the site reports that "though she wants to connect with others, she struggles with interpreting how her family and friends feel and has difficulty sharing her own feelings. Her science acumen is said to prove invaluable throughout the story, though." Sounds like Aspergers to me. But I'm not a doctor. As for the other main character, the boy will be 13 years old and is said to be "passionate about fantasy and conspiracy theories. Furthermore, he apparently approaches every situation with unbridled excitement for the unknown" and he "will narrate life in real time, adding descriptive color to the people he meets." As for the plot, the film is said to focus on a family who moves back home to a small town. While there, they begin to learn more about who they are and the secrets of the town itself. That's all we know at the moment, but I'm thinking we can expect to see all of this tie back to the original team of Ghostbusters in some way. But again, who knows? I also think these details make sense in that - following all the controversy surrounding the "all-female" GHOSTBUSTERS movie from 2016, Sony is splitting the difference and making the cast half male and half female. Smart move? I guess We'll find out come Summer 2020.

Ok, I don't watch Stranger Things, but based on what I know about Stranger Things, this sounds heavily influenced by it. Is that fair to say?

Sounds like an absolute dumpster fire already. Nothing I hate more in movies than precocious kids.

This really doesn't sound like it relates the the GB at all... this sounds either suspect or that it's like a stranger things movie being disguised as a GB announcement

The reboot lost money as censorship laws in China (no 'promotion of the occult') meant it couldn't get a release there iirc. How do you make a ghostbusters movie and get around that?

They might not be able to get a Chinese release, but they can still make a profit by not spending $300 million on making and promoting it.

It sounds to me like they took an existing "haunted house" movie and slapped some Ghostbusters IP over it. But hey, if it sells toys and maybe even gets some kids to watch the other movies and The Real Ghostbusters, then cool.
