Could see a partnership between AEW and Impact(if those rumors from weeks ago become true)

Probably for the best, he has potential to get more eyeballs on AEW and with Impact being on a channel with less viewership than ever before I can't see him doing much for them at this point. He *might* have been able to get them on a bigger network but I don't really know how much leverage Jericho actually has with mainstream audiences.

That’s code for “I want a bigger deal AEW, I have other options so you better offer me more”.

That’s code for “I want a bigger deal AEW, I have other options so you better offer me more”. If that's his mindset, I can't blame him. If you're in a position where you're able to make extra money, you should take the opportunity.

Chris had meetings with Dixie and Jarrett about coming in, he even negotiated letting Fozzy’s “Enemy” be the theme song for Bound for Glory 06. Chris then had a final meeting in 07 with Dixie and Jeff that Jericho himself leaked so the wwe would found about it and give him more money.

Jericho is a carny to the fullest and always working
He only considered it to put more pressure on WWE if anything and keep Cody/Bucks on their feet

As I was just putting, he def keeping Cody/Bucks on their feet despite the friendship he wants them to know he's an attractive commodity with options which I can't blame him
I think he said something like AEW pays more WWE

I don’t doubt AEW offered more, it’s just my opinion but the wwe wasn’t gonna use of pay him like a top guy anymore. I think there’s more to this than Vince passing on the cruise.

Oh of course they weren't. Vince was fine with letting him work in Japan but it seems like since Vince said no to the cruise Jericho has just said f*** it and doing what he wants
Chris is bigger outside the WWE than he is in it and while it be nice to have Chris around, they don't really need him there either.
It's the best option for all parties really while Chris still has his options open with NJPW as well

This is just my opinion but I think the botched ending of his feud with Kevin Owens really hurt his standing in the wwe. When Vince told Owen that he hated their match at wrestlemania, it’s still awkward to watch.

I just think it’s one of those things where Jericho is a legend but he doesn’t have enough standing like Brock, Batista, Rock where he can show up once a year to wrestle a match and have people talking It seemed he finally reached that status when he wrestled Omega in NJPW but he came back for Raw 25 and that was it

Callis is one of his best friends, I'm sure it at least was considered by him, and Jericho loves to stir people. Wouldn't be shocked if he still wound up doing a show for them sometime, but it would need to be something he felt like was a big deal, and I don't think Impact can really offer him anything big right now in terms of big interest matches.

The cruise definitely played a part in him going this far, I think. Jericho had a really great gig with WWE; show up whenever, sign short and flexible contracts so he could go back to his rock star fantasy camp whenever he wanted. I'm sure he got paid really good money for it too, Vince isn't someone who really tries to negotiate down the pay of his long-time loyalists, and he's said to be close to Vince. His time in Japan was always filtered through his sentiment of Japan not being Vince territory and that he wasn't going to work for any North American promotions. Hell, he didn't even work the US shows New Japan ran this year. He had Vince's blessing to work some New Japan stuff and play around in his off time, came back here and there in January regardless, it all seemed to be going according to plan.
But the cruise? Oh, that seems to have really stuck with him, because he went and got ROH and The Elite in on his offer instead, and got closer with them in time. Meanwhile, his attempt to sell Vince on an IC Champ vs. IC Champ match against Seth for Summerslam didn't go anywhere, while Gedo let him do his whole Pagliacci the Dad Rock Clown act and he was attached to something fresh and young with the Bucks. He also had the throughline to Cody, who probably helped facilitate the conversations and whose ambition has obviously dragged everyone in his orbit real far before. Did he say "f*** you Vince if I can't have NXT on my cruise I'm going to TNA?" Of course not. But I think it was a vital step in starting to put a rift of sorts between him and Vince, and setting him on the path to go play with his new friends who are better and cooler than his old friends.

If there's one thing about current wrestling that bugs me, it's Chris Jericho's insistence on trying to shoulder his way into a seat at the cool kid's table, when he should be hanging out in the teacher's lounge.

Meanwhile, his attempt to sell Vince on an IC Champ vs. IC Champ match against Seth for Summerslam didn't go anywhere As an aside, I really don't understand why on earth he would've even thought it would? It was a stupid idea. Seth really totally eclipses him in terms of the level of threat they're portrayed as and Jericho showing up with a belt that might as well be a made-up one like the Million Dollar title in the eyes of most of the viewers wouldn't have done a thing to make the idea any more credible. Add to that that it'd just be making NJPW look bad because Jericho would 100% be losing (assuming they even got THAT much out of it, given their name isn't even on the belt so a lot of people probably wouldn't even make the connection) and it's just a scenario where everyone loses.
