I just don't get how someone of his level of fame and success doesn't have 13 grand. I work retail and I've had more than that in the bank before.

Crime Watch Daily didn’t set the world on fire, and I can’t imagine Hansen V Predator was making all that much. If he didn’t save his money when times were good I could easily see him getting into trouble like this.

Ironically I was in the middle of watching some random video on Youtube reviewing a Hansen vs. Predator episode when I saw this. I still watch those To Catch a Predator videos on YouTube when I'm bored. I know it's an awful, awful scenario.... but some of the situations are hilarious.

There are dozens of groups and individuals now that do those kinds of stings. Their videos are so damn addicting. If you haven't yet, check out popsquad.

Taxes, obligations, connecticut being a super expensive place to live and the assumption that making lots of money a few years means it'll continue for the rest of his adult life not turning out to be true. He's not one of those TV stars whose body of work produces a slew of royalties so is unlikely to be helped by past successes.

What I always wanted to know about his show? Do the pervs have to sign something for the show to air the footage of them taking a seat and being caught/arrested, and If so do they get compensated? (Lighter sentence, money upon release, etc.) Not that I have any sympathy for them, but who want that stuff to air?

They can air the footage without consent because it's showing a crime being committed.

You'd think the pedos would have a grapevine or something that lets them know that when the little kid asks if you want lemonade or something, to run out of there.

Consent to be filmed is implied by agreeing to enter or something to that effect.

Might be part of it but they also show the people who don't actually enter the place and when they do outdoor / public meetups.

No, it’s definitely been done for ten years or more. Hansen Vs. Predator was his not very successful attempt to bring back the glory days.

Guess does a lot to explain why Hansen vs. Predator was so far behind schedule and had a lot of trouble with getting people's Kickstarter rewards to them. Not paid since August and even then didn't pay all of it, damn.

In the case of being outdoors and in a public place, anyone can film anyone doing anything. There's no expectation of privacy.

There was actually a guy who asked Chris Hansen for a ride home after he was caught.
