The NFL has the worst OT rules, kinda surprised they haven't addressed that... I sort of disagree. What they have isn't the greatest, (I'd prefer both teams get a shot) it is far and away better than sudden death. Maybe if kickers could not hit one from 55+ (or longer indoors) sudden death wouldn't be so bad but playing for a FG under the circumstances sucks. Given the toll a game takes on the body I can't see them wanting to go to full quarters except in the playoffs. I just hate that there is a chance that only one team gets the ball. As much as CFB's overtime is gimmicky, no one has ever walked away from one feeling like it was biased to one side. The officiating maybe, but never the format itself. I mean, imagine an MLB playoff extra innings format where if you scored 3 runs, you automatically won the game and the other team didn't get a chance to bat. It feels really stupid that an entire half of the game has 0 chance to play in the deciding quarter just because of a coin flip.

Both teams should be guaranteed one shot. Then sudden death after that. I don’t see why it’s so hard, they’re halfway there with the newer rules.

That's kinda of an exaggeration. Before Boston started to win, the Pats made 2 Super Bowls and the Red Sox made it to a WS. The Browns choked against Elway twice, the Cavs was Jordan's personal bitch and the Indians haven't won anything worth a damn since they jobbed to the Marlins in '97. Yeah, of the 8 times the Patriots made the playoffs between 1960 and 1996 they made the Super Bowl and got thwamped. They won less than 4 games the same amount of time during that run. They didn't have any "great" players to hang their hat on outside of a friggen Offensive Guard.
Red Sox made it to a World Series but they made it the PLAYOFFS nine times in 90 years until the won a World Series in 2004.
Trust me, they didn't call Boston Loserville for nothing.
Between 1957-1987, the Celtics won the NBA Title 16 times which somehow always gets forgotten in the "Woe is Boston!" narrative.

Sorry most every fan I've encountered from there is a giant egotistical douche, there's a reason the term masshole exists. You probably haven't encountered many fans then. The majority of this fanbase that's 30+ is so used to being the "fellowship of the miserable" where everything and anything that could go wrong would go wrong they act like everything is going to turn out for the worst. Outside of the early 80's Celtics from the early 70's to 2000 this place was loserville. It was Cleveland. No disrespect, but...are you f***ing kidding me? Yeah, of the 8 times the Patriots made the playoffs between 1960 and 1996 they made the Super Bowl and got thwamped. They won less than 4 games the same amount of time during that run. The fact that it was Mahomes who didn't get a chance illustrates the problem, but it's a problem regardless of who it is. As fun as the idea of sudden death overtime is, I don't want a gigantic part of a huge game to be decided by an old man flipping some change.

That blows my mind. I couldn’t imagine ever getting remotely tired of my teams or choice being the best. My argument is simple, I don't care how good they are. If you make the best lasagna of all time, are you gonna eat that every day forever? Probably not, some change is good, and I feel like it's been nothing but Patriots for 20 years. This.

I've been a Pats fan since college and I am very tired of watching them win. It's exactly how I felt in the SuperCena days. That blows my mind. I couldn’t imagine ever getting remotely tired of my teams of choice being the best. I think me not living among Pats fans for the last eight years has definitely contributed. My husband, my kids, my in-laws, my friends. Everyone I know here roots for the Chiefs. All that has added up to me not enjoying the Patriots winning like I used to.

I was rooting for my team versus my wife’s team in the Super Bowl. Her Pats made it. My Saints got screwed. It is what it is.
The one matchup I loathed seeing was going to be the Rams vs the Pats due to part of the narrative we’ll have to deal with in the buildup for two weeks. That and even though I’m from near STL and I had zero connection to the Rams, i still feel for my family who were Rams fans. I hope the Pats whip that ass.

My favorite part of the Pats/Chiefs game was the Blow to the Head call for slapping Brady on the shoulder. That was some horseshit. The ref tossed the flag on what he thought happened instead of what he SAW. That's a reffing 101 failure.
My favorite part of the Saints game was watching them whine after the game. I'm sorry I can't hide my total disgust for the Saints. I'm still bitter about paying players to dive into Farve's knees a decade ago.
Bullshit aside, that was a pair of fine ass games. I was very thankful for that since it was -9 outside and I was looking for an excuse to not leave the house.

I don't think I am going to even watch the Super Bowl this year. The way these games went down today makes me sick and I'm just done. I hate, loathe, despise, you name it, the Patriots. I disliked them when they won in 2001-02. I quite liked that Rams team and they would be remembered as one of the great teams of all time if they hadn't been ripped off. And yes, I have been a Colts fan pretty much since Manning was drafted and really even as far back as when Harbaugh was QB. But both games today just broke my will to watch. I could maybe have dealt with Brady vs. Brees since that's at least a dream QB match up but I have little interest in revisiting the nightmare that was that Pats/Rams game. I don't care if the Rams get payback from that game after that garbage way they won today. I don't care if the Pats win and Brady gets #6. I know I even said it made for an interesting storyline but after seeing both games today and how those played out I'm just disgusted. So congrats NFL. You got your big market game. But I am done with the Patriots. I will not watch them in another Super Bowl. End the pain. What's bizarre is that a friend of mine was a long time St. Louis Rams fan (his dad lives in STL and had season tickets) and still considers the Rams his favorite team! I don't even know quite how to react to that. His dad now hates them for leaving the city high and dry. Maybe your friend is a real fan. Since LA fans stuck around when they went to St. Louis...what a concept.

I had no clue Romo was going to be this flippin' good Well, if you are a star QB in this league who was in the league for nearly a decade and was in the film room a lot as a player, you eventually learn the tells of players.

I had no clue Romo was going to be this flippin' good I was whining about his hyperactive enthusiasm, then at some point around the end of the game he turned into a psychic. It was truly amazing.

I would literally rather watch the Pro Bowl this year than another f***ing Patriots superbowl.
With that said, nuke the Evil Empire from orbit, Rams.

As bad as NFL Overtime rules are, I'll still take them over the old ones where a FG on the first drive could end it. Or the neverending College Football OT's.

Let’s not overlook how insanely good Julian Edelman is and has been. He’s going to be a pile of clueless mush by the time he hits 60, but he’s a freak
