I think he's got a good chance to be a Bret Hart type character. A true blue babyface who doesn't compromise his values. The fans will get behind him.

There’s a lot to be said for just going up to the big man and just talking with him.

There’s a lot to be said for just going up to the big man and just talking with him. Yeah but I think just as many people have tried that and got nowhere with it or worse. He is an unpredictable guy, especially now that he has more wrestlers in his employ than actually exist on Earth.

He is an unpredictable guy, especially now that he has more wrestlers in his employ than actually exist on Earth. Especially when one of those employees is TJP, who's been wrestling for 40 years, despite being 34 years old.

My opinion is, they could give the ball to about 30 other better options.
I like Ali, I think he’s boss in the ring. But his look and lack of character works against him for me. If he was on the indies, people would call him a Seth Rollins rip-off act.
Having said that, I enjoy the shit out of his ring work. That No DQ match with Buddy Murphy is only topped by Ricochet vs Adam cole as my 2018 MOTY

Ali's a decent promo who can only get better, has a look that sticks out, can work solid matches, and seems like a genuinely great person outside the ring. I think he can be that dude and I really enjoy the spotlight they've been giving him on Smackdown.

The only thing I dislike about Ali is his goofy looking Mortal Kombat entrance attire. It was ok for a ond off special entrance, but he looks ridiculous coming out to it every night.

It's funny cause there's lots of goofy shit in WWE I hate. I actually seem to be in the minority that thinks Balors demon gimmick is awfully goofy shit too. But Ali in his Mortal Kombat attire is awesome to me.

Andrade and Ali are guys you can build a show around if you invest in them.

He pinned the WWE Chanpion in his second match ever on SmackDown. That seems to be giving him the ball right then and there. I don't know. Shelton Benjamin pinned HHH on his first night on Raw. That was a massive deal at the time but we know how that all turned out.

Eh to be quite honest, I think that's what has been missing about wrestling as a whole. Wrestlers are supposed to be these larger than life personas with insane, goofy, and exciting attires that give the audience something cool visually to look at. One of the problems with wrestlers these days is none of them stand out, everyone of them looks and acts the same, and I feel like a return to cool costumes could actually be a way to differentiate these wrestling characters from one another. Ali's Mortal Kombat inspired attire is very cool, unique, and actually adds a breath of fresh air to an already stale entrance introduction anyways.

I have enjoyed him since watching him in the Chicago indy scene but I cannot stand the super hero style attire he wears

Not to go down that road, but the fact he wasn't laden with some terrible evil foreign heel gimmick is as surprising as it is encouraging. Was gonna day, he’s small and foreign. That he’s made it this far without being turned into a mustache twirling villain is a very positive sign about how the company sees him.

Bumping this thread due to this week's SDL. It seems they're incorporating Ali's unique promos in with SDL's video packages and it works but more than that Ali's really able to get the crowd behind him as the Joe match showed. That crowd was behind Joe since the beginning of the match but by the end Ali had them. They did well in there.
