"I was in Las Vegas, Nevada at my first Grateful Dead show in the western U.S., and, it turned out, at the last one I would ever see. It was a magnificent May afternoon, the music was incredible, the energy was warm and peaceful, and the sea of dancing bodies swirled around me on the stadium floor... There is a fascinating karma surrounding the Grateful Dead and the community of Deadheads, and by karma, I mean the law of cause and effect and the intricate interplay of intertwining fates. The name of the band, which was divined from an Oxford English Dictionary which fell open to the phrase, is a kind of folk tale in which a man passes through a town, and learns that a pauper has died and cannot be buried because his debts have not been paid. The traveler spends his last penny paying the man's debts and for his funeral, and continues on his way. A little while later, his life is threatened by thieves, and out of nowhere, a stranger appears, scares away the thieves and saves the man's life. The stranger turns out to be the ghost of the dead man. That's a story about the law of karma, and that law was a beautiful thing to watch unfold on tour, where it always seemed to be especially visible. " - Eric Francis www.planetwaves.net/grateful.htmlContestants, Judges, and the FAN community, here are the songs submitted for Round 3: Racking Up The Miles. For this round, the contestants had to look to the open road to find inspiration. They had to imagine playing to sold out arenas in packed cities around the world, as well as small gigs in rural towns across the U.S. countryside. Our players could select songs that referenced life on the road, a life all would-be FAN Idol know the highs and lows of, or referenced geographical features like countries, states, cities, regions, as well as related phenomena like the World's great oceans and rivers, forests and deserts, landmarks and destinations. Here are the songs selected by our contestants, which range across the musical spectrum. Like last round, the songs will be linked in alphabetical order without song information, followed by a spoiler containing the titles and names of the songs' artists. 1. Oooh there is one I want to kick off about so bad.
There are a ton of big hitters so it'll be interesting to see if the judges favour them over some of the lesser known tracks. It may swing the game theory one way or the other

Automatic last place to Danny Rand for not thinking of us first. Automatic first place to Heald for calling him out. My team wins this round. It’s only fair, people. Heald, first place to Automatic's last place, I like that idea. Since we now have our bottom two, it should make the top of the field easier to figure out.

Without revealing anything, there is one song in this round that I am very thankful for discovering today. There were some great picks, but that one song is going to stick with me for a long time.

The worst part about this is when everyone says I love a song and i wanted to use that artist BECAUSE WE CANT HINT AT WHAT IS OR IS NOT OUR SONGS,I WANT TO HAVE A CONVERSATION DAMNIT All said,I feel pretty confident about my pick even when looking at the stacked round. So most likely i'm ending in the bottom

So most likely i'm ending in the bottom buddy, the amount of times in my FAN Idol career I've thought "oh, I'm in good shape for this round" and then completely tanked (or vice versa) is surely in the double digits by now.

Two sets of Judge's rankings are in for Round 3 : Racking Up the Miles! Please give the judge's time to do their thing. Depending on how things go in terms of time, I'll announce the theme for Round 4 when I get a couple more sets of rankings in.

Posh Spice has for years been amassing a library of world music and new age classical under a pseudonym. We have to make ourselves familiar with this and choose accordingly.
