That's as good a confirmation as any that Affleck is done. If at least one movie reviewer is to be believed, Ben's been gone for a while, but SAG rules kept things from going any further because they couldn't release him from his contact while he was in rehab.

Yeah, that wouldn't surprise me. Affleck being gone has been Hollywood's worst-kept secret since 2016.

I don’t think Affleck did a bad job as Batman, I think that the shithole that became Dawn of Justice just killed his passion for the project. I was excited during that time because he wanted to direct a Batman movie written by Geoff Johns.

Man, it upsets me as to how horribly WB messed up the whole DCEU concept. Ben was by far the best Bruce/Batman depiction that we've seen on the big screen and the potential was literally wasted. Now we'll never see a true Justice League film with them battling the likes of Metallo, Brainiac, Darkseid, Mongol, and a proper Doomsday depiction as well.
I was hoping they would've found a way to keep Affleck, however, perhaps this is for the best and he can move on to other projects without having to make it seem like he's not going anywhere. He's gone and Cavill is gone too. This sucks man.

I feel a bit bad for Affleck. From initial enthusiasm, it was just the perfect bad storm of both public and private misfortunates.

Why not just slide Manganiello into the Bruce Wayne/Batman role? Not too old, looks great, was supposed to play Superman but True Blood screwed him. Plus, good things happen when a guy from Pittsburgh puts on the bat suit. 😉
Maybe Jeffrey Wright as Harvey Dent/Two-Face as an homage to Billy Dee Williams.
I'd still be excited for DiCaprio as The Riddler. Or Hush.
Priyanka Chopra as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, because...why not? 😊 Or Talia.
Is Simmons still Commissioner Gordon?
I love Joker, but he has been done to death.
Maybe finally get Ben Kingsley or Patrick Stewart as Mr. Freeze.
January Jones as Silver St. Cloud.
I'd mark for Goldblum as Scarecrow.
Cranston as Hugo Strange.
Just spitballing. Any thoughts on my casting?

He's already made an on-screen appearance as Deathstroke, plus with this already confirmed to be a Batman in the first half of his time in the cowl they're almost certainly looking to cast someone in the 25-35 range. Jack O'Connell, Armie Hammer, and Jamie Dornan seem to be the front-runners.

I'll be "that guy" and say I want Affleck to continue. I really love his Batman. I didn’t realise anyone had to be that guy. I thought Afflecks Batman was quite well received Admittley I don’t really go anywhere else for my chat apart from here though

Yeah, just about everywhere I’ve seen had praise for Affleck’s Batman. I thought he was great myself but the movies were awful. The news that this one won’t be too connected with a shared universe is good news to me.

I liked Ben Affleck as Batman. I thought he played an older Bruce Wayne pretty well. It was just BvS was just awful.

Is there a possibility that Affleck is swerving us and he's going to surprise the fans/general audience by remaining as Batman? I definitely don't want him to leave the role.

Nah, Affleck has been out the door since filming wrapped on JL. With Cavil gone too And Aquaman & Wonder Woman more and more bein standalone, the EU part is dead.
Lookit the Shazam trailers, nothing about that looks remotely connected.

They even subtly rebranded to 'Worlds of DC' some months back. I actually kind of think them doin more separate films is a smart move. It differentiates them from Marvel, and they've already proven they're not good at it right now. Snyder really poisoned the well, good intentions or not.

On one hand I think they should've stayed the course and on the other hand I don't really like separate universe films. It would be one thing if they were initially started as separate universe films. However, I find it incredibly frustrating as a fan that they lost Cavill and Affleck so easily without so much as putting up a fight and finding a way to make them happy.
In the end it wasn't Cavill or Affleck's fault either. This just sucks. I hate how the DCEU has basically died without so much of a whimper honestly.

Yea, the point is to be as different as possible and so far as we've seen their separate movies of Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and potentially Shazaam have all done fairly better
Now does that mean I want to see a Cyborg movie, nah i'm good on that but they been trending better and need to keep it that way
