Jeffrey Wright would have been an awesome Lex Luthor.
And I think Farrell has really stepped his game up. I liked him in Roman J. Israel Esq.

Serkis as Alfred is a good pick too This cast is coming along really nicely It's kind of ridiculously good. Granted, it won't work unless the story is good as well, but based on Matt Reeves' Apes movies and the clear direction he's taking casting, I'm almost certain this movie will be special. This is the first time I can remember a "superhero" movie going for a cast this strong since Richard Donner's Superman. Yea, like this has the potential to be one of the greatest superhero movies on paper if everyone performs to their capabilities and the story is on point. Every casting decision so far has been on point and even people who aren't really into Patterson knows that dude can act and you can't just write him off. This is almost like the SpiderMan PS4 game for me. My interest wasn't really high but I was intrigued and as more news comes out about this, it is becoming one of my more anticipated things to happen as the date gets closer.

Random question as I've heard differing information. Given the new Gordon and Alfred I am assuming this isn't connected to the DCEU anymore and is completely standalone?

I think they're likely setting up a Batman universe disconnected from everything else. As you said, the casting makes it pretty obvious, and it also gives Reeves the freedom to make good movies without trying to work around previous structures.

The easiest way to think about it is, everything is disconnected from everything until further notice It is a soft reboot to an extent on everything and it is a possible problem they will have to worry about later if they decide to connect everything again but for the foreseeable future everything is standalone until we get to Black Adam and Shazam because you really just can't disconnect the two

Man, it still seems a bit messy with how badly the universe had been managed. I guess it makes sense to have this Batman be disconnected given the detective nourish direction Reeves is going in too.

Like I said disconnected for now at least since you really don't need others with Batman but you have the luxury of doing so. I expect Batman to stay standalone though. If he ever joined up with someone it would be with the Joker movie but they said that isn't happening but you can never say never

Can't have a future Justice League film without Batman. I definitely can't see them connecting Pattison's Batman with Joker either.

Flash movie looks dead and Cyborg never got off the ground either. I don't even think JL is on the menu for the foreseeable future. There best bet is too just keep everything loosely together but I don't think we will see some big overarching storyline like Marvel. This format has worked for them and they need to stick to it. Pattinson as Batman is a great choice and I loved Cavill as Superman even if they didn't give him right direction so hopefully the next superman is someone they finally do good by Their trump card is they always have Flashpoint in their back pocket but I wouldn't even waste it

Hopefully they find a way to get Cavill back into the role too. I am definitely looking forward to Pattison in the role and the detective noir route of Batman.

HOLY SHIT.
I'm bowing at Matt Reeves' feet right now. His casting is so good, plus this definitely confirms Long Halloween as the main influence. Literally the only thing that could suck now is an ugly Batsuit.

Such an amazing read and anticipation for this is making me want to give it a re-read.

"Could" and "Should" are worlds apart. That said, I guess I can't shit on them too hard when Joker made a bazillion dollars for them so recently, it's hard not to imagine a ton of internal and external pressure to push for more of that.
Still, I hope they resist that urge and just focus on getting back to basics.

Joker and Phillips and Pheonix had a concept man. And it was (at least initially) designer as a one-shot. I groaned when I heard that rumor. Stop. Getting. Ahead of yourselves. I KNOW you want that MCU reach and money....but cmon. On the bright side I’m loving the batsuit and design rumors ...possible spoiler? {Spoiler}{Spoiler}blue and grey..white eyes..modernized version of the Adam West costume as well as taking inspiration from B:TAS for the movie.. All that sounds fresh.
