I'm fine with this. I think Pattinson is the next DiCaprio. The guy did his Kidz Bop movies, got paid, got name recognition, and now he wants to do the adult roles.
I just think it's weird that no American actors are getting these roles. Batman and Superman are icons, but Bale, Cavill, and now Pattinson are playing them.
Not complaining, but I remember McG turning down a Superman movie because he thought it should film in America, not New Zealand. And Bale kept up his American accent in interviews, because he thought that kids or whatever should hear "Batman's" voice.
It would be like if they picked an American to play James Bond.
But I do want the best actor for the part, bottom line. So again, Pattinson is ok in my book.

Pattinson himself has either flat out said or at least insinuated that he knew the Twilight movies were complete garbage but they would open more doors for him in Hollywood than quietly doing a string of smaller pictures that get critical acclaim but don't earn a lot of money. And it worked, too. He's done a handful of really good movies since, and landed arguably one of the top two or three superhero roles in an age where the superhero genre rules the world.

Heh the title makes it sound like a talk show. A Batman version of Space Ghost Coast to Coast. You're welcome for the billion dollar idea, DC spies.

Get the band back together. Kristen Stewart as Catwoman, and the Mustache Dad and Jim Gordon. Taylor Lautner can play Calendar Man or something.

It's a trilogy now?
Eh.
I get it, but man do I wish Hollywood would stop counting their chicks before they hatch. Focus on making one really good movie, then go from there.
Letting people know this is probably another Batman series that's three and done too just leads to ultimately angry and disappointed fans if it is good because X didn't happen or they didn't adapt Y or how come Z wasn't used as a villain.
I'm cautiously optimistic about this first outing so far. I really hope Matt gets to make the movie he wants and it's more of a detective movie than any live action adaption we've gotten so far. It'd be nice to see the World's Greatest Detective, you know, detect.

I get what you're saying, but planning a trilogy will hopefully be good for pacing, and not bring us stuff like Batman V Superman, where 2-3 movie's worth of stuff is happening in one film, while simultaneously feeling like nothing's happening because much of it happened in the last 15 minutes.

You're not wrong. But man, DC's entering a wild new world with this whole "Worlds of DC" branding and I really want them to lean into it and not restrict themselves to the classic formula. Do live action versions or inspired ideas of stuff you might've never seen before, with Batman included. Gotham by Gaslight, The Doom The Came To Gotham, Kingdom Come, something Batman Metal inspired (like could you imagine if they marketed a movie as a seemingly straight forward Batman vs. Joker movie, only for twenty minutes in Joker dies and the movie's actually<iframe width="33.460000000000036" height="9.259999999999991" style="position: absolute; width: 33.460000000000036px; height: 9.259999999999991px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none;left: 15px; top: -5px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_7736872" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="33.460000000000036" height="9.259999999999991" style="position: absolute; width: 33.46px; height: 9.26px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 1603px; top: -5px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_47088059" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="33.460000000000036" height="9.259999999999991" style="position: absolute; width: 33.46px; height: 9.26px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 15px; top: 398px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_33270791" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="33.460000000000036" height="9.259999999999991" style="position: absolute; width: 33.46px; height: 9.26px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 1603px; top: 398px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_72458166" scrolling="no"></iframe> about the Batman Who Laughs?), I don't want them to get gun shy about that, or about ideas like "The Joker", because they tie themselves up into a trilogy for however years it'll go for and can't use any Batman related property because they might use it in this trilogy.

I'd be down to see them get nuts, definitely. Guessing Wonder Woman '84, whenever that comes out, and that Joker film in October are going to be big tests on how into the idea they'll be, since Shazam and Aquaman were big hits for them, but these are going to be a lot weirder.

Laughing at "kids should hear (Bale's) Batman voice.". Yeah if you want to be responsible for generations of nightmares.

Anna Kendrick as Poison Ivy! <3 Michael Sheen as, I don't know, Bane maybe Mad Hatter or Scarecrow spring to mind at first thought about it. Though I think he'd be an interesting choice for Clock King or Professor Pyg too. Maybe Gentleman Ghost if you're going in the more Silver Age direction. Man the fact no one's done anything with a TAS inspired Clock King in a movie yet is practically a sin. For as much as that series gets praised for re-inventing or tweaking other characters into their best versions, their take on Clock King is incredible and one of my favorite villains of any DC property.

I hope Pattinson is great as Batman. The guy deserves a shot at a big time, grown up, franchise. Most of the Twilight jokes are going over my head, because I've thankfully never watched any of those films, but the casting around him will be interesting. He's a very youthful Batman, which will impact a lot of character choices - Do they go for making the villains his contemporaries, or older? Does he get a major love interest or someone more minor from the comics?
And I have to say, I'm glad that DC are seemingly intent on leaving previous iterations of the character in the past. I hated Bale's Batman, and his stupid voice and his bland, steel and glass Gotham City. I never even saw Affleck's, because I found Henry Cavill so utterly pointless in Man of Steel, that it killed all my interest in DC movies.

Those are good calls, but I think he could be a good Mr. Freeze too. Unless people still want Patrick Stewart or Ben Kingsley. They're great, but since when did Freeze have to be a bald British guy? I would kind of like to see, who was it...Eli Wallach? Who had kind of the crazy white hair look. Or Sheen's look in Good Omens.

I am fine with this too. Been reading that a lot of people believe this is them introducing Terry and having Michael Keaton as an older Bruce Wayne. This is still confirmed as a younger Bruce Wayne right?
