Know what I hated most about Day After Tomorrow? There was a scene, right before the miltary chopper or plane goes down, I think, where someone remarks that the tempature is going down at something like a rate of 600 degrees a minute (I think they said like, 10 degrees a second). That's the most retarted thing I've ever heard, every structure on the planet would freeze and shatter in seconds.

Eh, I'm not pumped for 300. I probably should, since I'm into Greek mythology and history and all that, but it just doesn't click for me.
Probably cause it's being done by the same guy who did Sin City, a film which got so much praise only for me to completely hate it upon finally seeing it. And I can already see traces of that ( THIS IS SPAR-TA!!, ugh).
This one mini-scene in the trailer where this gal is dancing or something surrounded by smoke with semi-orchestral music playing illustrates my point perfectly. It looks like the kind of film that tries to be cool for the sake of being revered as cool.
Blah, no thanks.

I went and saw it tonight. It wasnt a MUST SEE or a classic by any means, but it was an enjoyable 2 hours and I dont feel my $10 was wasted.

And I have yet to see Hollywood do anything close to being good on Greek mythology, maybe the TV movie "The Oydessy" being the closet to this. "Troy" made me want to puke my guts out. And yes...the "This is Spart-A thing kinda comes off as...lame. Sorry I can't get past the way he says it...it's so over the top, it's funny. I can't help but shake my head at him saying it. I mean, its based on the comic book from that crazy miller that he dreamt up one day moreso than the actual battle

Ya, this is in no way historically accurate, not even close. Besides being based on the actual battle, it has no real connection to the events that happened there.
Oh, and for the record, the whole "This is Spart-a!", well, not that they spoke English in Ancient Greece, but it is very logical for Leonidas to say something close to that, as all Spartans were very patriotic and cared for Sparta deeply. Over the top? Yes. Something likely to be said? Ya.
